I heard something interesting that I wanted to look into. Looking at teams' records this time last year. Looking at records entering games 11/21/21:
Arizona was 8-2, finished just 11-6 lost first round playoffs
Baltimore was 6-3, finished 8-9 out of the playoffs (injuries)
Cincinnati was just 5-4, finished reg ssn 10-7 went to Super Bowl
Kansas City was just 6-4, finished 12-5 lost AFC Title game
LV Raiders were just 5-4, finished 10-7 lost first round playoffs
Philadelphia was just 4-6, finished 9-8, lost first round playoffs
San Francisco was just 4-5, finished reg ssn 10-7 lost NFC Title game
So at this point last year, not everyone was quite what they appeared at the time. Wondering what teams towards the top of the standings might disappoint to end the season and what teams that don't appear as likely to make a playoff run, could get hot?

@nebish that's what I always keep in mind. In 2020 TB was 7-5 and then won out. 2010 Packers were 8-6 and then won out. It's always who peaks at the right time. Gotta love the parity.

Win out and they are 11-6! NYG are a fringe playoff team right now. Could be an interesting game between them. I'd submit that the Lions really shouldn't have won the games they won the last two weeks. All the chances that GB couldn't capitalize on and the pick-six / missed xpt situation certainly greatly benefited Detroit last week. With that said, I wouldn't rule out a potential Detroit win this week just because NYG is good, maybe a bit above average where I would rate Detroit a little below average even though the records indicate something much different.

Current NFL playoff picture.
Given the right odds, I could consider bets on teams currently out to make it...LAC, Cin and Wash.
Wash has a decent schedule, can't assume they beat Hou and Atl, but they should. 4-3 would seem reasonable, 5-2 best case?
@ Hou, ATL, @Nyg, bye, NYG, @sf, CLE, DAL
Chargers also have winnable road games upcoming, they need some health though. Best case can they go 5-3?
KC, @arz, @raiders, MIA, TEN, @colts, LAR, @den
Cincy is a little harder. 4-4 or 5-3?
@Pit, @Ten, KC, CLE, @bucs, @pats, BUFF, BALT

In terms of what the market thinks or what the odds are:
A few teams, to make the playoffs:
Chargers Yes -115, No -105
Cincy Yes -120, No +100
Colts Yes +550, No -900
Falcons Yes +330, No -450
Giants Yes -300, No +250
Jets Yes -100, No -120
Patriots Yes -135, No +165
Wash Yes +300, No -400
Packers are off the board pending tonight's game
Bears Yes +3000... No -10,000
Lions Yes +1400... No -3,500

Fuzzy Thurston's SBl ring up for auction. The reserve is pretty steep, no bids, ends tomorrow. Somewhere out there, somebody collects Super Bowl rings. Those people must own a mint.

Packers are probably done. They'd have to win out to get to 10-7, unlikely with the Eagles on deck.
Defense gave them the path to win last night but the offense couldn't connect. I wonder if Rodgers' thumb injury isn't worse than they've let on. He threw some ducks last night and didn't even get mad at anyone.
The rest of the league, the path to the super bowl looks wide open for a number of teams. Should be a good home stretch.

Redemption for Browns, & Lake Erie bragging rights to go w/it, nuf said (even if it is in Det)
that's what victory Sunday would bring - was the right thing to do to move it, why play in crummy conditions if it can be avoided, & Bills were going to be in Det anyway for the Thanksgiving game
maybe the best place to watch it would be Erie PA, with Buffalo 92 miles one way up the shore, & Cleveland 102 miles the other - the late great Charlie Daniels comes to mind, "you just go & lay your hand on an Erie PA fan, & I think you're gonna finally understand"
It's 168 miles from Cleveland to Detroit - 255 miles from Buffalo, so guessing Browns'll have louder crowd, plus the weather forecast for Buff'd make driving prohibitive if it proved out
Browns had golden chance to help Pats last week - they failed abysmally giving Miami 1st place
now they can redeem themselves - a win would make it a 3-way tie at 6-4 in AFC East, But Pats GOTTA Do Their Part - a win'd give them the season sweep over NYJ, that could be large if it stays close down the stretch

Thats what I was thinking as well.
Did not get to watch much football yesterday.
Lions win 3 in a row. Bills show up for them on Thanksgiving.
other games that day.....
- The New York Giants (7-3) play at the Dallas Cowboys (7-3).
- The New England Patriots (6-4) play at the Minnesota Vikings (8-2).
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

I was watching the Jets-Pats game because the remote was too far. I was too far in, I had to see who won the baseball game. My patience was rewarded, sweet punt return to seal the win.

Yeah that was pretty cool. Hard for me to say that about anything concerning the Patriots.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Browns had two key chances to help Pats in their last two games
flop
mayb Lions can tmrw
Pats’d then be extra motivated to return the help by winning their game, & finally gaining that elusive tie in clustered AFC East
its very simple - if Det can help NE w/its 4th straight win tmrw aftrn, NE will help Det w/its own 4th straight tmrw nite
….& just like that, putting prowling Lions in hunt for NFC North at 3 GB MN w/6 to play - combined w/Red Wings’ solid start, long-suffering MC fans have reason for cheer after years of dormancy, it’s good to see
a win tmrw would be among the most memorable of Lions’ annual Thanksgiving games
no 2 ways around it, gotta have that 7-4 deadlock going into Thurs at Foxboro - 3rd game in 12 days for both teams -
Dallas smacked MN, Pats will too
this is the clutch/crucial/pivotal Fun part of the season - lotta important games
happy Thanksgiving✌️🙂🎶

What a weird yet entertaining Packers game yesterday. Almost felt like a win the way this season has gone, just to see Rodgers back to his old self and the RBs running down hill. Even though the defense gave up 3527 yards, they had a few key stops against a great offense to keep GB in the game. And Jordan Love looked sharp, there are going to be a lot of conversations about him this week.

I admire your optimistic view pcb but last night's game was a defensive train wreck for the Packers.
The Defense gave up 363 yards rushing and 500 yards total offense and if not for a couple of 4th down stops the Eagles might have put up a 50 spot in points last night.
The Packers defense has 7 first round draft picks so I don't think it is lack of talent that is the problem. And yes, they have injuries but they have been less then dominant this year especially against the run and on 3rd down.
Probably won't happen during this season but defensive coordinator Joe Barry needs to go IMHO.
Hopefully they play Love the rest of the season. The rebuild starts now I think.
For a 10-1 team the Eagles defense was underwhelming to me. Wonder how that will play out in the playoffs.

I didn't say the defense was any good last night, but I guess you're a glass half empty kind of guy. They took the best team in football down to the wire, even had a chance to win after their MVP QB went down. Compared to the past 8 or 9 miserable games it was nice to see the offense move the ball and put up some points, even had a lead briefly. As I mentioned, the D was a sieve, but I'm not sure anyone could have stopped Hurts last night.
Packers stagnant offense has kept the D on the field and forced the Packers to go back to their passing game while playing behind. Maybe Berry should go, but the offense hasn't been doing them any favors.

I call it as I see it mate and don't believe in sugar coating things and saying everything is rainbows and unicorns when they are not. Not sure how anyone can say the glass is half full with last nights performance but everyone has different views on things I guess.
As far as taking the "best Team" to the end, IMHO I think the Packers are better than they have shown and Philly is not as good as their record. Even bad or mediocre teams have good games against superior talent. Philly's defense is not great against the run which played to GB's offensive strength so I would not read to much into the offensive success last night.
And the other teams have been able to contain Hurts this season to the point where last night was his first 100yard+ game rushing this season. If we are being honest with ourselves Green Bay's runs defense is one of the worst in the NFL and have had trouble all season with mobile QB's so not surprising Hurt has success but giving up 363 total yards rushing is a disgrace. Barry should be deadman walking after the season.
Rodger's new injury may be a blessing in disguise as it could enable LaFleur to start Love moving forward and avoid and messy showdown with Rodgers over playing time.
Hopefully they have the stones to start Love and deal with the fallout with Rodgers as I am sure he will not be happy sitting if he feels he can play.

So being pleasantly surprised a 4-win team (2 Ws in OT) on the road gives up 29 first downs, 2 INTs, an NFL record number of rushing yards, 40 points, and only loses by a single score in the final minute to a 9-win team is "sugar coating" it? I just didn't expect to watch the whole game. "If we are being honest with ourselves" anyone who thought the Packers' run D was going to be a monster this year was delusional. It's been their weakness for over a decade, so last night's defensive sieve wasn't a huge surprise.
The Packers are 4-8 and deservedly so. The season being realistically over for a week or two now, you look for the positives to take into next year. Last night, Jordan Love looked sharp. Seeing some of these receivers connect for the first time in weeks is promising. Seeing something other than 3-and-outs is promising. Return game looked promising. But for 2023. Whether it's Rodgers or Love next season, I have no idea. I feel like the brass would prefer to move on to Love. Rodgers' contract would be tough to move, but he looks ready to do something else - whether that's going to another team or opening up a vape shop in Malibu. Either way, it makes no sense to keep playing Rodgers if he's not 100% healthy. You're only playing for "not last place" of the North.
So, back to my initial point, it was an entertaining game that I was glad I didn't turn off after going down two quick TDs. That in itself felt like a win compared to the mostly unwatchable football the team has played this season, on both sides of the ball.

I didn't mean to whiz in your cornflakes PCB. I just have a different take on this trainwreck season and the near term future of the team.
The "experts" were predicting another 12-13 win season and we were told that with all the talent we could have a top 5 defense this year. Unfortunately neither came true so the team has been a major disappointment all in all.
As far as next year I could get excited if the team was showing improvement that could carry into next year but we are talking about a team that won 13 games each year the past 3 years which is showing a major digression. Based on what has happened this year and their dire salary cap situation it is hard to get excited for next year.
The team is already over the cap for next season and they have some very tough decisions to make on some key players. How do they resign Jenkins as he may command a big number? There is talk about parting ways with Amos, Lowry, Reed, Bakhtiari and our best offensive player Aaron jones due to their huge cap numbers. One of our best defensive players, Gary, is coming back from ACL surgery and the Defense look's lost right now.
There could be major drama with Rodgers this offseason and if he retires or is traded it could be major dead cap money.
I truly hope Love is a starting QB in the NFL but it is too early to tell which is why, IMHO, they need to start him the rest of the way if Rodgers is not in the plans for next couple of years.
So call me a glass half full kind of guy but I think we are in for some lean years coming up before we are competitive again.

RIP John Hadl - famous Chahgiz QB, his weird last name made him easy to remember, so did the fact that no other QB’s # was in the 20s, AND he was good -
his #21 is one of three retired Kansas Jayhawk numbers along w/Gale Sayers & Ray Evans - there’s also a statue of Hadl on the KU campus
hadnt known he had a huge year w/the Rams after SD traded him, they went 12-2, he was POY, then ended his career w/Packiz

Great QB with Rams but one of the worst trades in Green Bay History. They gave up a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd pick in the 1975 draft and their 1st and 2nd the next year. His time with GB was a total failure and he was traded with another player and two more draft picks for QB Lynn Dickey.
That was the beginning of close to 20 lean years for us Packer fans before the Brett Farve era resurrected the franchise.
Interesting when you think about all the Rodgers rumours this past off season where the "experts" were speculating the Pack could have gotten even more draft picks back then they traded for Hadl had they traded him.
Lets say Rodgers wants our of GB after this season but does not want to retire next year. With his huge contract what type of draft pick compensation could the team get for him now? thoughts anyone?

Interesting trade proposal for Rodgers. The writer thinks he may still be worth two #1 picks
https://heavy.com/sports/green-bay-packers/aaron-rodgers-trade-rumors-derek-carr/

Interesting article. I can see Carr playing in Green Bay. The Raiders can't seem to get out of their own way.
Regarding Rodgers, I have a few thoughts on him as I have kind of opined over the past year.
A. Do teams trust his character? I wouldn't myself. He kind of teased GB in the offseason for what ever reason(s). I think that is why Adams had enough and wanted out. I believe Rodgers could have solved that to begin with by simply committing to the team. I thought he and Adams were an AWESOME duo and could have made things much better than the season has gone for them.
I think his whole stance on getting a COVID vaccine where he tried to mislead people into thinking he was vaccinated when he wasn't (I think he said immunized) would bother me as a prospective suitor.
All the gibberish he spews on The Pat McAfee show is really odd to me. Seems like he could have a career in reality TV.
B. The money. I was shocked Green Bay gave him what he wanted. Seems like he led the team around by the nose trying to get him to come back. If I were Green Bay I would want out of as much of the contract as I could get so it would require someone to eat a lot of that. Not sure who would be willing to do that but I am sure a few teams will. Indy would be a great landing spot for example.
If they can get a serviceable QB and some picks I would do it, trade him. Think the Lions with Jared Goff and Stafford. That worked out well for both sides.
I know there are a couple of Packer fans here that may disagree with much (if not all) of what I said but that is how I see things. 😀

I think you've been listening to too much Skip Bayless, a lot of assumptions.
I don't agree with everything Rodgers says (or most athletes for that matter), but other than the COVID "immunization" nonsense, I haven't heard him say anything that makes me question his character. I don't think he does himself any favors by going on the McAfee show, simply because it just provides fodder for the trolls like Bayless, Cowherd, Stephen A. He's pretty measured in what he says, though I do think he thinks a lot of himself. Hosting Jeopardy might have gone to his head.
I don't think Adams tired of Rodgers, everything indicates he wanted to be out west and play with Carr, sign a big contract. Rodgers seems to be close to Cobb, Baktiari, Jones, etc, and Adams. I don't see the Raiders trading Carr away after landing Adams - but losing changes things. It did seem like LV had a hot hand and was on their way up while GB's window was closing after 3 straight disappointing playoff years. Had those years turned out different, no one would be questioning the money spent on Rodgers. I mean, he was still an MVP.
If he hadn't kept playing with that thumb and Love stepped in, this season would be much different. If Love could play, why is a lame Rodgers not sitting out and letting that thumb heal? I think coaches will have to take a hard look back at whether they did what was best for the team. Zeke used to come in for Starr. Young for Montana. Feels like Rodgers didn't want to give up his spot under center when he clearly couldn't throw, but coaches should have seen this.
I do think the Packers will want to move on from Rodgers. I think it'll be 2008 all over again. But I don't think it will be as messy as Favre's departure.

Lets say Rodgers wants our of GB after this season but does not want to retire next year. With his huge contract what type of draft pick compensation could the team get for him now? thoughts anyone?

happy bday to the guy 1st of all, he turns 39 tmrw - but that IS advanced age - as far as what Pack could get for him….not much it wouldn’t seem -
teams don’t want to give up top picks for an aging great past his prime, stumble the way GB did w/Hadl - tho Rodgers could boost ticket sales for a team too, we saw that in TB w/TB12
could see AR12 in a backup role, like Johnny U & Broadway Joe when they finished in SD & LA -
he could still have something left - he might still stay in GB - the last part of the season will tell the story - if he pronounced himself fit to play, he’d play, at least at Lambeau - fans would demand it
….Aaron is one of the greats, but time waits for no one🤙
mayb Pats will make a race of it yet, sharp tonite boys, let’s go 🏈

Rodgers might be 39, but he's still better than 3/4 of the starting QBs out there. If he stays sharp (it gets harder and harder every year) some team would add him as a 2-year stop gap, at the very least (if that's what he wants). He's not holding a clipboard, not with his contract. He's not the same 39 those gridiron giants were 50 years ago. A season after throwing 2 picks and getting knocked out of SB V, the Colts benched Unitas in '72. He started for SD (taking over for Hadl) but was then benched in favor of Fouts. Namath, meanwhile, was riddled with injuries by the time he left NYJ.
The big issue is his contract, makes him tough to move, but I think it matters more what Rodgers wants to do.

back-to-back MVP. I still think Rodgers has good football ahead of him. Broken thumb. Lacked cohesiveness and chemistry with new receiving group, and new receiving group was two rookies and two WRs from Clemson who aren't that good (or weren't that good). It was Lazard and an older Cobbs. Point being, if the WR situations is better, the thumb doesn't get broke and maybe the OL doesn't have a couple issues, this is the same Rodgers we've all seen before. As time passes, sometimes capability and ability drop off a cliff unexpectedly, but Rodgers is still a really really really good QB when all the variables around him are right.
Anyone hear the Dishone Kizer interview about his time with Rodgers and Green Bay? I heard a line or two on the radio. Sounded like Rodgers is into conspiracy theories, not surprising after his "I'm immunized" comment. Sometimes the more you know, the more you don't want to know.

I just read about that the other day. Rodgers definitely sounds like he "self-educates". Sounds par for the course with his Joe Rogan and Pat McAfee crowd he isolates himself with. Maybe there should be an SNL sketch where he hosts Jeopardy and corrects the show's official answers.

Well the Bears still suck, so that's good news! 😉
Kind of bummed for Garoppolo. After years of talk that he isn't good enough and who will replace him, he's finally having a solid season only to go down with a broken foot. Them's the breaks.

Yeah so-so most of the game, then Rodgers & Pack found their game in time in the 4th-qtr - yep Bears same ol’, Fields spectacular stats in another close loss - Rodgers 18-31-182
once the rust comes off, Deshaun Watson will put up Fields-like #s - guessing both Browns & Lions will have good stretch runs - Browns behind Bengals by 3 w/5 to play going into the battle for Ohio Sunday in Cincy - a W is imperative, paramount for Cleveland
Det has won 4 of 5 & peaked ystrdy - Pats are 6-6, 3 GB Buff w/5 to play, should handle AZ on MNF
