Chinese rocket expected to crash into Earth this weekend

@porkchopbob Guess you're right. I seem to remember that Mattel made components of the M-16 rifle. For my $.25 million, I want something a little sturdier than a Game Boy for the steering mechanism! My first thought was that the AAA batteries had run down in the joystick. As curious as I am to see the actual Titanic wreckage - no, I wouldn't get into that tube either. So happy to not have that kind of expendable income! 😉

That whole thing about the " sub" looked and sounded sketchy from the get go. Could not pay me enough to get into that, and I know all I need to know about the Titanic. Not intrigued one bit to go down there. God bless the folks who passed on. What an awful way to go.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Some people just need to push the limits to the extreme. From what I've read, 4 of the passengers considered themselves explorers probably had no regrets. The rapid implosion likely made for a quick way to go, whatever that's worth.
But according to his aunt, the young college student was very nervous about the voyage and only went as a favor to his dad for Father's Day. So that has a few layers of sad.

@rusty PlayStation controller aside, the guy was knowingly negligent just to stick it to “regulation”. Same people who die in automated cars or are still sitting on Mt Everest. Fine if he wants to risk his life but he Should never have taken anyone down there with him. Next time they should just give the money to me and I’ll put a movie one all about it.

also read somewhere, They Couldn’t Find The Titanic on one dive & had to return - for a $250,000 ducat
This time they lost contact an hour 40 min into the dive
have read it takes 2-3 hours from surface to wreck site “floating” to bottom, depending on current
so they woulda been I guess at 8-10G feet when it imploded
wondering if any of the 5 bodies will wash up somewhere - the body of a Titanic victim washed ashore 2 weeks later
it’s a terrible tragedy, almost as bad in ways as the nearby shipwreck they were headed to - now they both live on in infamy

I guess if it was a "rapid implosion" they would have had no time to regret. Not sure any exploration is worth losing a life, but I guess that scenario/risk has come with that type of territory for centuries. Its the chance you take, and unfortunately it took a wrong turn.

I would be surprised if they would find any bodies. Almost like a needle in a haystack, or sea creatures might have something to do with it.
I guess this is beyond me, but it seems like there would have been more safety measures in place, regulations, checks and balances, etc.
Don't get it. I am sure they signed some sort of waiver before going, but if lawyers get involved now.....

Yeah looks like it’s come under the purview, or jurisdiction, of the Transportation Safety Board of Canada
I don’t know what-further could be “investigated,” they’ve established it was an implosion -
at least they’re wise enough not to look for any human remains, as you said that’d be like searching for a needle in a haystack
wonder if this will deter/curtail future Titanic expeditions - would hope so

Likely they are investigating the minutia of the event, the when and why it imploded. It could go to liability if the owner of the sub was grossly negligent. Not only would it provide engineering data, but there's probably just a great deal of honest curiosity as to what happened.
There's no chance they recover any remains. They've been at the bottom of the ocean for a week after suffering a violently traumatic event. Logistically dangerous, but also there's probably not much left to recover.
I'm sure there will continue to be people who want to go down there, just as there are people who sign up for SpaceX, but I can think of better things to do with my time.

🤙yeah am guessing the waivers they signed won’t amount to much once lawyers get involved/lawsuits are filed etc

they’re calling them “presumed human remains” - can they be ID’d, or do they know how many of the five were among the wreckage brought up from the deep
many ?s to answer still

Yeah I stand corrected. I wonder if they were contained within the wreckage. Break up was much less than what many were estimating, looks like its still in several large pieces, allbeit pretty crushed. The titanium materials of the sub were still strong individually, probably had a seal that failed where the carbon fiber meets the end caps. Most deep dive submersibles are spherical, so the pressure is distributed evenly.
This is why they recover and investigate, I'm not aware of any instance in which remains were recovered from such a depth, under such pressure. Usually seamen are left with their wrecks but these weren't seamen. I assume they'd be able to DNA test, if necessary.

Yeah hopefully it happened suddenly - just instant implosion & lights out w/out any inkling of trouble leading up to it
if it got Real cold in the sub, or heaven forbid they saw the walls getting moist w/water
….farewells all around & prayers for a quick end, the sooner the better - it wouldn’t’ve taken long

Well, I guess we won't know for certain until they finish their investigation. Assuming it was an implosion it would have happened before they knew it and the intense pressure and heat are probably why they are using the term "presumed".

Well, it wasn’t a Chinese rocket that crashed into earth
but it Was a Russian spacecraft that crashed into the moon (current report)
