Yes that is a good word for it. I saw Joe Pass once at a theatre. Joe was the only person on the stage but it worked. Dazzled the audience.

saw joe freshman year in college. just him. during his performance someone was talking in the audience. he stopped playing and told the person to shut up. much respect to joe and the audience loved it!
