Boston, NYY, and Toronto are all chasing that Wild Card. Might be better than a pennant race.

Not MLB but my hometown Little League team is one win away from making Williamsport and the LLWS. I believe their next game is on ESPN+ tomorrow morning at 10.

Because no international teams are participating even a regional runner up will make it to Williamsport. We are a small town of 25,000, with a lower talent pool to draw from.

Go Hastings!

I was at dinner tonight and the Flubs game was on. They were losing like 2 or 3 to nothing. I thought it was a replay. We leave and my brother in law asks me how I can root for them. I get home, turn on the TV and they are down 7-0. First inning. I guess he had a good question.

Yeah what you said b4 about Jake Arrieta proved out - hammered again tonite, now 5-11, 6.88 ERA - Sawx, Cubbies & Mets - all dropping like stones, altho we’re winning big tonite, finally

….the 7 runs we gave up in the top of the 9th could be the most telling stat to come out of this game

Guessing Tygiz’ll sit Miggy tonite in hopes of his hitting #500 this wknd in Detroit - also 50 hits away from 3,000 w/46 games left

ups to Adam wainwright, 39, complete-game 2-hitter & 2 hits of his own - also David, he’s found a niche as LA’s 1st pitcher, did his 4 IP last night to improve to 5-1, & even belted a double to deep CF

Brewers’ Burnes ties record record w/10 straight Ks - they’re really going, %age pts behind TB for 2nd overall

we’re right back in it if we win tonite & sweep Balt this wknd - only the division title will do, let’s go Sox

@stephen

Well they released Arrieta. I'm not surprised. I kind of called that one. A lot of the Flubs moves are kind of coming together. Theo Epstein quits, they trade Darvish, their ace and they bring back Arrieta. I think they knew they weren't going to resign their stars so they pretty much threw in the towel. Probably why Epstein quit. I've been to six games this year and even before the fire sale it was brutal.

Last night when I was watching the game and they were down by 7 in the first inning and Arrieta was still in the game I kinda knew it was the end. And who knew 10 guys in a row would strike out?

Regarding your Sox, I saw that score so I looked at the box score and I just figured they put some position player in to pitch at the end but that actually IS a pitcher.

And oh yes, the Flubs are getting spanked already today.

Brewers P Burnes strikes out 10 in a row to tie an MLB record. Way to bury the lede!

And the Crew are currently up 5-0 in the 2nd inning trying to complete the 4-game series sweep.

Not too much of an accomplishment against a high school team. 😉

16-1. There is an independent team in Chicago that I would rather see.

32G at Wrigley, 26G at Fenway at today’s matinees - ups to Cubs fans, that’s loyalty, Sox fans too - too bad their teams rewarded them by getting summarily Waxed

Chris Sale last pitched ‘on this day’ in 2019 - no telling how much he’ll help, he’ll for sure go no more than 3-4 IP at first - but he won’t hurt anything either -

no way of knowing if we can return to 1st-half form (of season)

too early yet to call our goose cooked - the oven is damn sure on tho

The Field of Dreams game last night was cool. I think it lived up to all of the pomp and circumstance. Costner was cool to start it off (on the MLB Network) but then he seemed kind of out of it if you will at the start on FOX.

The game itself was great. Very exciting. My wife is a big White Sux fan and she is screaming in the ninth inning when Hendricks gave up four runs. She hates the guy for some reason.

But a fun game. I wonder what they plan to do with the little stadium.

They gotta worry about the Yankees and Toronto so I guess there is a concern there.

So Stanton is up to bat after Judge closes the gap in the top of the 9th. I said to my wife, "he's going to pull the Yankees ahead, but the Sox are going to win in the bottom". Cut to Zack f-ing Britton warming up. Yup. I don't believe in fixed games, but can you imagine if the prime time Field of Dreams game was a dud? Still, was pretty cool. I bet MLB has at least one FoD game a Summer, rotate out different teams.

Costner sure can ramble like an old feller, but at least it was a solid 5 minutes without Joe Buck talking.

God, as soon as I saw that FOX had the game I knew that pain in the ass would be calling it. In the past 15, 20 years or whatever I have rarely listened to a Super Bowl on TV because he always calls it. I don't understand it. He knows everyone hates him calling games and FOX has to know it of course. So I obviously don't listen to the commercials. Not sure how the NFL allows it. If FOX wants the rights to the game, that's fine. Just make a caveat that he can't call the game.

In other baseball news, look who is in second place in the A.L. Central. My Tiggers of all teams. Tied anyway. And they have one of the best prospects in baseball in Spencer Torkelson. Who knows, maybe next year they will do something. I bet they could beat the Flubs. 😉

It's funny how all of fandom is unified in their hatred of listening to Joe Buck. Well, maybe Cards fans like him. But I began wondering, why does everyone think he's biased against their team? And while listening to him I realized, he never talks up the winner, he just dumps on which ever team is losing.

I will always remember watching the Game 7 of the 2017 ALCS and the Astros were up on the Yankees, and Buck couldn't stop dropping stats on how impossible it would be for the Yankees to win. For like 5 straight innings. I guess that sets up how dramatic it would have been had the Yankees come back (even though they were up 3 games to 2), but all it did was make it that much more difficult for Yankees fans to watch with the sound on. Of course, now we know the Astros were cheating, which makes Buck's commentary even worse.

But I guess he's a good, ahem, sport about it.

Don't even tease me on the Tiggers. There's no way in hell they can make a run of it.

🤙think you’re selling em short b - yeah Twins won tonite - but Det had won 11 of 16 coming in - if they won these series w/MN bookending the AS game they’d only be 3-4 games under .500

There it is - the biggest series this late into the season in Detroit, in many a moon - tied w/Tribe - his 500th could be on a walkoff tonite giving Tygiz sole possession of 2nd & 2 under .500, closest they’ve been all year - they’re goin good - ya never know - scalp em Indians - get well soon Tito - let’s go Sox

I think they benched him the last game or two because they were on the road and the Tiggers want him to get 500 at home.

Great debuts last nite, a no hitter for AZ’s Gilbert, & vs a decent opponent - Muhammad Ali’s grandson won his pro debut, altho vs a palooka-at-best opponent

Wish Sox could play Balt every time - solid return for Sale, he went further than I thought

Just wandering around w/Meanders Fra, wait…

just meandering around w/Wanders Franco/Suero

...What In The Name Of Brudsar Graterol Is It W/Bball Names

saw a new one just now, Yennsy - LA made a pansy of him just now - he & Yacksel have great-erol names but that’s about it

so many unique 1st names in bball, esp w/the letter Y - Yan, Yandy, Yadier, Yadiel, Yasmani, Yency, Yimi, Yonny, Yonathan, Yordan, Yuli, Yusmeiro - Yonder Alonso is no longer playing but Pete Alonso, Yennsy’s teammate, is

it goes all the way back to the letter A, had never heard the 1st names Avisail or Aledmys b4 - Astrubal, Adolis, Deolis, Ehire, Erasmo, Framber, Franmil, Jeurys, Jhoulis, Leurys, Magneuris, Ranger, Teoscar, Touki, Vimael, Wandy etc

Unique to baseball only⚾️😁 - best one I’ve seen, Johneshwy - how in heck would it be pronounced

Yandy, Wandy & the Wanderers - it’s gotta happen

…OK, speaking of the letter Y - it’s this week at Bronx - they’re only 2 behind us - let’s go boys, we can catch em (TB)

Anybody read this? Wow! I really think the guy is a jerk but this story is totally bizarre. If true, I don't understand why she went back. 🤔

https://sports.yahoo.com/trevor-bauer-dodgers-police-assault-investigation-los-angeles-225713636.html

They’re calling it a 7 day administrative leave - a suspension I guess - yeah pretty kinky stuff alright - consensual is one thing but yow - sounds like Bauer power busted a hinge, but who knows

what’s that song in Walking Tall - “punish me, make me feel the pain/punish me, make me crawl back to your world, but Don’t go and find another girl….”🤷🏽😶

Bauer claims she wanted to be choked & the other rough treatment they had during their 2 encounters - a recent article is descriptive

even if she did, when you’re a young multi-millionaire, you would be foolish to think that this kind of behavior wouldn’t come back to haunt you, consensual or not

yes the times they are not a changing - Bob Dylan has been sued for drugging, then sexually assaulting a 12 year old girl - in 1965

—————

Sox-Yanks, hopefully that never changes - two 2day in NY

who needs Clayton, LA has Scherzer, Hamels, Price, Buhler, Urias….

as great as SF is, imo Dodgiz would beat them in a playoff series

I would agree with you about him going down a dangerous path (no pun intended) but if I were in the shoes of any celebrity I would be super cautious because you can often be an easy potential target.

Nice win for the Yanks over the Red Sox this afternoon in the first game of a double header that pulls us within 1 game of them.

The Yankee bullpen is in shambles so they are winning with smoke and mirrors and a bunch of no name relievers. Still don't know how Loaisiga got out of that no out 7th inning bases loaded jam as he had full count on a couple of Sox.

Tough matchup in tonight's game as Eovaldi is always tough on the Yanks. We have rookie SP  Luis Gil going and he has been brilliant in his first two starts not allowing an earned run and throws heat 100mph. Will be interesting to see how he pitches under pressure but thankfully it is in the Stadium so will have the home crowd behind him. He better pitch good and give us some innings as the bullpen is shaky with Britton opting out of closing.

Lucky it is only a 7 inning game so takes some of the heat off the pen. We are getting healthy at the right time so should be an interesting pennant race the rest of the way.
