Bagent & da Bears should be able to secure the W for their fans

suspect to begin with, Carolina’s D stands only for Depleted, or Decimated, w/several top starters out according to the pregame > end result, Demolished/Destroyed etc - yep as was pointed out, the league would like to have a better Thurs night game - 3-14?? could be a record for prime time futility

Chicago people hating Detroit people is another good example.

I didn't know that was a thing. But a lot of people on the East coast are surprised to hear WI and Illinois have a rivalry. When they ask why I usually tell them basically Dan Akroyd in The Great Outdoors.

Oh yes, it is indeed a thing. I went to a Bulls/Pistons game years ago and wore a Tigers hat. People threw popcorn at me.

I wore a Tigers hat to a White Sox/Angels game and people booed me.

Regarding WI, cute movie, yes but Wisconsin is all about cheese and Spotted Cow beer. Whenever we go up there we bring a cooler and load up. Fun town!

That game was just terrible. The only point of interest was how it could affect the Bears draft position next year since they have the number one picks of both teams. As a Lions fan, I guess I want the Bears to win a few more games so they aren't able to draft two great players next year.

@lee I don't recall the Brewers and the White Sox having much of a rivalry when they were in the AL, moreso with the Tigers and Indians. I actually prefer their rivalries in the NL Central, gives a little more meaning when we play St Louis or the Cubs.

Bucks and Bulls never really had one either, probably because they were never good at the same time.

Yeah, I don't think the Brewers and Sox had a rivalry either. I don't think the Sox have a rivalry with anyone. Other than Yanks/Red Sox and maybe Cubs/Cards, there really aren't any in baseball. Football, of course, especially college.

Good point about Bulls/Bucks. Being relevant means a lot.

Besides, who can dislike Wisconsin? Oh wait, Bears fans. Wink

Dodgers/Giants is a pretty big rivalry. Mets and the Phils is sort of a thing. O's/Yanks. Well, everyone in the AL East hates the Yankees. But yeah, not as many rivalries in the MLB.

And if Bears fans didn't like WI they wouldn't spend their Summers there 😉

Have never heard of O’s-Yanks being a rivalry - Sox-Yankees, Giants-Dodgers are the ones I know - NY has same rivalry w/Orioles as w/Tygiz, ChiSox, Indians, other long-standing teams

we lost to a hockey rival, Habs, last night😣 - for the record tho, it’s really Rangiz - it’s always been them, then Leafs-Habs in Canada, ChiHawks-Red Wings in midwest, but Mont is as intense a ‘rival’ as NYR - so many battles w/Habs

many good NFL games today - Pats kick off in Germany this AM -

but yes those midwest teams, Browns, Bears, Lions, Packiz have been there forever & could be/likely are, considered ‘rivals’ - week from today in Det 4 xmpl - a huge game, even w/Bears down - can envision visitors stoked to the W in Fields’ return

….w/the Galloping Ghost, Red Grange - the Monsters of the Midway days, w/midwest legends like Jim Thorpe, Bronco Nagurski etc & on - then later greats like Otto Graham, Marion Motley etc

finally, the Lord Jeffs beat the Williams Ephmen ystrdy in college’s oldest rivalry

tough one for Browns today w/Balt, Browns got 32 on their unis - was 27-0 last week, & 27-0 the last time Browns played Balt - ‘you could look it up’🏈🤙🇺🇸

The cumulative effect of no Chubb, now no Watson will catch up to Browns in 2nd half of season - would love to see em stave that off 1 more week w/a W Sunday - they’re both 6-3, it’s big

⚾️I dunno - as you said tho, all the AL East hates NY - they all have a ‘rivalry’ of one degree or another w/NYY

but not Sox, that’s generally known as the granddaddy of em all🤙 - it’s festered ever since we traded the Babe - cool that NY & Balt have developed a rivalry too, hadn’t known

-

🏈Aaron Rogers is planning a return next month, IF NYJ is still in it, from what I read, along w/other factors -

even if they were & he returned, I wouldn’t expect any miracles if I were a Jets fan - a 40 year old coming off Achilles surgery is not prone to miracles, esp in his 1st game w/a new team in (what would be) a critical game, experienced & all

if Jets have been eliminated, he’d stay sidelined, from what I’ve read - that would be a wise decision

Pack is a young team so we will have to take our lumps this year I guess but still fun to watch for me as they grow together.

can relate to this Bill as a Pats fan - can’t say it’s fun right now, but Pats had too long a run to complain - this almost had to happen in a way - imo the game hasn’t passed Belichick by, they’re just in a down cycle - like Pack they’ll be back

they took us last Sat in OT up there

it reverses our way tonite here, also OT - no game is ever easy w/them

big bummer about Milan Lucic - hopefully his domestic trouble & injury both clear up quickly during his leave of absence

Pats are off this week

It’s a new Browns QB tmrw vs Steeliz - it was PJ Walker, now it’s Dorian, but most notably, Browns are bringing out of mothballs Joe Flacco, 38, for a tryout - would be epic to win this game

no player is as key to his team as Myles Garrett is to Browns - he’s having a career, all-world, almost MVP level year

upset special, D suddenly rises, Fields & O do the rest & da Bears shock Det in a rivalry special

pick NYJ over Buff, they’re playing w/urgency to be alive for playoffs when AR12 returns

Bad picks last week, watch me go today😮 - if conditions/weather are good down there, wonder if Aaron Rodgers will pronounce ‘put me in coach’ Dec 17 in sunny Miami - to be inserted 2nd half for a ‘dry run’

he’s targeting a Dec. 24 Meadowlands debut, if the weather is bad/footing iffy & they’re out of contention however, no go, & his 1st year away from GBay

….ends up being the last of his career in a bad-idea-from-the-start Flop of a Finale that shouldn’t’ve happened - he went nowhere, neither did GB

Browns know Broncs😠 - a win today & Cin over Pitts, yaman

holy **** - no sooner T78 on the hill, than T78 barkin signals - yep, Flacco-Rodgiz Dec. 28😵‍💫🏈(mayb)

time was when….😮🏈but now🥱 - doesn’t mean it won’t be a good game - let’s go Pats, NY spanked us on the sheet ystrdy, let’s turn it around on the gridiron today

well, a good game it wasn’t, to understate it -……played-to-their-records (a lot like that Carolina-Chicago Thurs nite game earlier this season)…..🥱

ended on a fitting note today, a bust - appropriate, And it spared the fans OT🏈

Nice win for Love and the Packers, the pieces seem to be coming together. It's just one win, but it's one they weren't supposed to win. Even in a few recent losses Love has looked infinitely more confident in the pocket.

Definitely better than Tim Boyle. Wow. Apparently Aaron Rodgers didn't help them run hail mary drills. This might be the most Jets season the Jets have ever had.

Speaking the TNF, I feel bad for Al Michaels having to pull Kirb Herbstreit's weight. Sometimes I forget Michaels even has a booth partner. After decades of being the best in the biz and he's saddled with a door knob like Herbstreit, hopefully Amazon can find someone else next season.

NYJ>NJ - MetLife, Meadowlands, unsure, it’s still E. Rutherford, NJ

bottom line, outcome affects AR12’s availability/playability this season - a loss would (all but) bounce them from playoffs, thus Rodgers to be shut down according to original plan

however, Aaron says he wants to return this year - word still around for 12/17 Miami whether it’s crucial or a playing-out-the-string game

pats wearing throwback unis today, awesome, mayb Chahgiz too - Pats’ll crank em, it’ll be like another AFL game - Boston Patriots 51, San Diego Chargers 10

Balt is idle, so critical for Browns to win today in LA & stay right on Colts’, I mean Balt’s heels - Myles Garrett (shoulder) will be “limited,” shoot

Denzel Ward out again, so D Dinged, but yo, maybo ol pro Joe Flacco can make O go go go to end zo zo zo & a surprise W

guessing Browns & Pitts 8-4, NYJ 4-8 after today - Pats visit Steeliz Thurs

no, Aaron won’t be on the field until 2024 - still key for Browns tho, a win secures home playoff game & makes-moot finale w/Cin

- 2 games left, 2 GB Balt - wait, actually Browns could still play for division if Balt loses Sunday

-
Aaron & Deshaun are QBs in limbo

it’s nuts imo for Jets/Browns fans to see them as “saviors” in 2024

Rodgers is too far past his prime & would have too much rust to shake off

Watson himself will look like a 40 year old - simply too much missed time, unlikely to have his usual speed

kley in Keev, wait, key in win Cleve-lind -

…key win-in Cleveland tonite, let’s go Browns

Win and the Packers are in, basically a playoff game against the Bears this weekend. Who saw that coming 2 months ago? Jordan Love is having as good as or better of a first year as a starter than Rodgers or Favre which is pretty wild.

Also, remember when Aaron Rodgers hosted Jeopardy? And now he's pushing more bogus conspiracy theories, another idiot obsessed with Epstein's list of associates. I always said Rodgers chose his words carefully, so it makes you wonder what dumb shit he hasn't publicly shared.

@lee tough break for your Lions, I'm counting that as a W against the Cowboys. They've dropped 2 straight to division opponents but the Vikings look like a hot mess right now.

I could get into a lot about the Lions/Cowpokes game. While I really like Campbell, I think sometimes he is too much of a renegade. After a penalty on each team, they should have just kicked a point after and the whole checking-in thing never would have happened. Having said that, the referee totally blew that. Didn't the official team get kicked off any playoff games or something like that?

Looking forward to the Bears/Packers game, it should be a good one. No rooting interest here. It would be something if The Pack got bounced two years in a row AT HOME from making the playoffs on the last day. Sunday is going to be a fun football day!

@lee I was kind of hoping GB would play Detroit but I'll take McC and the Cowpokes. It's all found money. 3 years ago there were only 6 playoff spots and we would be talking about the draft. But it's all about when you peak.

Fun final Sunday, next weekend has some great matchups. Kudos to Buffalo for keeping their chin up and grinding this season out.

Happy Getting Ready For the Playoffs Day!

This weekend was fun as far as who is in and out. I'm over Detroit getting screwed against Dallas. But I can't believe Dan Campbell was stupid enough to play his starters yesterday and La Porta got hurt.

Jacksonville losing. How?????

Bob, good for GB! I don't get the rivalry between the two but I enjoy it. I didn't want Detroit to have to play the Rams because of Stafford but that's what we get. I think there was something on the line with the Rams and the Pack regarding what happened this past weekend.

And I think you have your future QB. He made a few amazing plays yesterday.

Between the Pack and Bears? Well, you know how neighbors can be after 100 years of staring over the fence at each other.

I did a double take when I saw Darnold vs. Wentz for LA and SF. Stafford losing in Detroit would be pretty surreal.

I really didn't pay attention to either of the South divisions but not surprised Jax shit the bed.

"the bulls--- that has nothing to do with winning needs to get out of the building."

- Aaron Rodgers

also Aaron Rodgers, minutes later: "I'm going to talk about [Epstein and Kimmel] Tuesday on the [McAfee] show," he said. "Tune in."

Remember when Rodgers pined for more "weapons". Meanwhile, Love took a bunch of rookies and practice squad players to the playoffs.

NY Jets fan Rich Eisen is over it too.

Belichek, Pete Carrol, and even Nick Saban all step away on the same day. We all knew changes were on the horizon in New England, it was definitely time to turn the page. I once read the new owner of the Browns Art Modell decided to relieve Paul Brown because Brown conducted practice without ever leaving his car. Of course he went on to coach a few playoff Bengals teams, but the game had changed so much during his incredibly successful career. It will be interesting to see if Bill hangs up the hoodie for good.

Saban's retirement is a surprise until you realize how much more difficult it is to be a college coach over just the past 5 years. Recruiting high school players is one thing, imagine having to suddenly recruit across the portal?

The Titans also moved on from Mike Vrabel, which seems short-sighted. Too many coaches don't get enough time to turn things around. Just look at Detroit - Dan Campbell needed time to turn that team around, but the brass was patient with him while the team was initially terrible. It paid off. He's still a bit of an ogre, but you can't disregard the results.

I never liked Saban. I was at Michigan State right after he bolted from there and everyone on the campus hated him. I didn't care as I am a UM fan but I did find it amusing. I was friends with the athletic department surgeon and he said Saban left because he couldn't recruit with UM. Made sense to me. I was surprised that he left though.

The Belichick thing is interesting. I guess they already have their replacement in-house. They still have to go through those protocols though I think.

Finally, I wouldn't call Campbell an ogre by any means. Old school? Of course. I think I would rather have that than Eberflus making everything all flowery when it is obviously not. I think that guy needs to have a few more "teeth".

Does anyone have any predictions for the weekend?

I like Cleveland as I am on the Joe Flacco bus.

I hafta roll with the Chefs in the second game. Mahomes and Kelce will be fine, regardless if Taylor attends. Glad we have Peacock to watch it though.

Pitt/Buf - Buf rolls.

GB/Dallas - I think Dallas should roll them but the matchup has always been fun.

The big one for me is Detroit & the Rams. I didn't want to face Stafford and I'm afraid he will exploit the Detroit secondary.

Philly still has enough to beat Mayfield, right?

@lee Saban famously bolted from the Dolphins when he couldn't cut it in the pros too. UW had a coach who couldn't recruit because academic standards were too high so he bolted for, Oregon State or something? I forget.

As a UM fan, how do you feel about Jim Harbaugh? He's the biggest douche in football ever since he was a QB, I'd hate having him as my team's coach. I didn't watch UW while Bielema was there.

CB-HT - Texans are a joke, Browns roll.

KC-MD - Chiefs have the experience but are a little shakey. I'd take the fish.

PS-BB - Buffalo is rolling and the Steelers are lucky to be there.

GB-DC - Packers or McC in the playoffs? I'm taking the Packers.

DL-LAR - Lions. Rams are also lucky to be there.

Philly-TB - I'd take Tampa. Eagles are falling apart.

So you are picking The Ogre to win? Razz

Sorry, no way The Pack wins in Dallas, my friend. Cowboys by double digits.

Looking forward to three days of playoff football. Gonna miss the first half of the Clev/Hou game today, which I really want to watch. I'll catch everything else.

I wish Detroit wasn't on Sunday night but oh well. Better than fans of KC and Miami for that game. Most of the country needs Peacock. I understand the anger but it costs $5.99 a month. So just pay it can then cancel the subscription, right?
