It’s not just Harris-Trump

Bruins-Maple Leafs

followed by the season’s first renewals of the oldest rivalries in sports - those midwest monarchs, ChiHawks-Red Wings, tmrw

& the granddaddy of em all - Leafs-Habs, Hockey Night in Canada, Saturday

we play NY later - regahdless, For Broonz, Rivalry Games Count As Much At The End Of The Season As They Do Now - we’ve seen it so often - winning in Tor is always 3 points, at least

tonight’s outcomes (puck/presidential) will be close, mayb to be determined in OT (shootout/electoral college)

Leafs star Auston Matthews out for tonight's game, upper body, day to day. Leafs do have a winning record, 35-19, I think, when he's out of line-up. Leafs haven't beaten the dreaded Bruins in a couple of years.

Yeesh - “shootout”??? - “shutout” was more like it - neither contest was as close as envisioned - they had 3 PP goals - gotta be better than that/guessing we will be

Grover Cleveland, Democrat - 22nd & 24th U.S. president, 1885-89, 1893-97

Donald Trump, Republican - 45th & 47th U.S. president, 2016-20, 2024-28

that’s how history books will read in future generations - Grover Cleveland always stood out among U.S. presidents b/c of his separate terms, now he has company

Cleveland was 56 years old when he took office for his 2nd term, a full 22 years younger than Trump

The nation was w/out a VP in 1885-89, Cleveland’s 1st term - his VP died shortly after inauguration, leaving the office vacant

the VP in his 2nd term was a familiar name in 20th century politics - Adlai Stevenson - young Adlai later became U.N. ambassador & a fixture in 1950s-60s era politics

at any rate there’s a real history there🇺🇸

Anyone for music talk? I heard Fleetwood Mac’s version of Black Magic Woman recently, had never heard it b4

Tango in the Night I think is a good FMac album

I love the ABB - overnight, it seemed to go from Duane/BO to Chuck/Lamar

of course we’ll never know how that 2nd six man band would’ve sounded had Berry lived

later add, awesome to see old friend Robert Williams III tear it up w/13 pts 5 reb 1st half tonite - he & Grant Williams both were good players for us

If that was new, and you liked it, then you should look into the rest of FM with Peter Green.

Yeah am not too familiar w/that era - Peter Green is right there w/Mike Bloomfield as one of the greats, not to mention Duane Allman & Dickey Betts, Roy Buchanan & Lonnie Mack, Buddy Guy & Albert King, Johnny Winter & Stevie Ray Vaughan…..🎶

fun to be surprised by ones outta left field like that, like For What It’s Worth by Cher, All Along The Watchtower by Brewer & Shipley….

It now looks like the kayaker faked his death after a reported drowning this summer at a Wisconsin lake

he staged his death & fled to Europe, they’re now saying, to meet up w/a girl he met online

abandoning a wife & 3 kids in the process

now they’re apparently onto him

craziness - wattaworld

It’s hard to understand why Lindsey would want to race again

she’s 40 years old, she’s been retired since 2019, she’s had crashes/surgeries, has won multiple events, doesn’t need the $ - the first hard crash could be devastating for her - bad call imo🎿

can recall when 1972 Olympic multi gold medalist, swimmer Mark Spitz, tried a comeback much later on in his 40s - the publicity was great, the event fell short

it’s always been hard for athletes who’ve been at the top, to retire - keep smiling & please keep it between the ditches, Lindsey

Home ice advantage

its a saying that’s applied forever - probly predates O6

Our team, our O6 Broonz, made a mockery of it last year - 16 home losses as of late in the season

-

we needed that game last nite, had an W2 going into it

didn’t happen - played decent, outcome, our 5th straight L on home ice - it’s crazy - you’d have to look it up for days to find out when that last happened

the club is out of sorts right now - Firing Montgomery Was Not The Answer - said so right off - we pull the plug too quick on coaches - all he did was compile the greatest single-season record in NHL history, 135 points

i get mad at Broonz sometimes - good thing it’s still early

back&gold forever

It doesn’t get any easier

behemoth back to back tmrw here w/Red Wings, Wed at ChiHawks

we need ChiHawks to go up there & smack Leafs tonite

elsewhere, Rangiz 4 Habs 3 Sat

& Sunday, a treat as all the greats gathered for B’s-Habs game to mark the 100th anvrsry of the very first Broonz game - w/the-then Montreal Maroons, at the old Boston Arena

all the greats were there, incl a message from the great Harry Sinden, 92 - watta treat

it tells the boys one thing - Sweep Or Bust - of this 3-game O6 set

Wow - just like the old days, Habs a home&home sweep of RedWings, in the process escaping cellar & passing Det in standings

Ottawa

yep, suddenly, the hottest team in the league & into the Atlantic upper echelon

…Leafs

they mean business this year - they always do but we got work to do to catch up to them - trust me we got Jan 4 circled - Auston is their Brad Marchand - he’s special, his absence showed that tonight

so a lotta excitement en Canada - in Florida, same thing, 2 teams, 1 headache

we gotta nab that last game b4 the break on Monday - the Great 8, injured, outta lineup, bummer - Wash is still playing really good tho

it’s been better recently, 10-4-1 under the new guy - watching St.L under Montgomery - like Wash, Cassidy & LV ahead of us in standings

🥅on the sheet or off, happy holidays🏒

-

⚾️& finally, RIP, Rickey Henderson - what a great - it was a pleasure & more to have him in Boston at the end of his career (2002) - from Cobb to Brock, no one was speedier than Rickey

the Great 8, injured, outta lineup, bummer - Wash is still playing really good tho

his return is imminent for the O6 - possibly Tor tonite, Det tmrw

or during our NYE matinee down there

watta great - he’s missed all of 50 games over a 20 year career, & at 39, was leading the league in scoring b4 a broken leg in Nov

now he’s back from an injury that shelves baseball players seasons at a stretch

& incredibly, only 27 goals away from Gretzky’s career record that at one time seemed untouchable

The Great 8 & The Great One - watta treat for hockey fans - it’ll be a treat to even be on the same rink w/that guy Dec 31

In Alex Ovechkin & LeBron James, also 39, we have two all time greats - history will record the fact of how lucky sports fans were ‘way back then😵‍💫’ to cheer the parallel careers of these all time immortals

those 6-2 coughups come from outta nowhere - we needed that game just to keep pace - it’s a 180 the other way tonite

🥅no worries boys🏒

it’s just a Garden-wide malaise right now - yep, now an L4 on the parquet - Jays didn’t really show up tonite - he’s allowed an off game for all he does - he doesn’t mail em in - but we trailed the whole game & were lacking energy (also Kristaps & Jrue)

Rangiz

no one can remember when they skidded to the end of the calendar year this bad - they’ve lost 15 of 19 - this after winning it all w/114 points last year

we see them Thurs & it’s on us to extend NY’s futility going into our game Sat in Tor - they are 2 of our oldest rivals

we need a W3 Big Time this week - 9 Consistent Periods Of Hockey boys

wash first this afternoon - they’re very good, so are we - they got Alex Ovechkin, we got Brad Marchand

Brad - like Ovi he’s missed hardly any games due to injury xcpt suspensions & Sept 2021 sports hernia surgery

his 16th year - Brad, 36, 15G 16A 31 points so fah - watta great

all we need now is that W3, also, Hampus Lindholm’s return

Make That Black & Gold Count boys

Habs

they’ve won 11 of 14 & are breathing down our neck - Det is still going

we’re in Ott tmrw aftrn - they’ve cooled off a little - not like us tho😠it won’t be easy to make up that L6 - we can’t afford to let them leapfrog us in the standings tmrw

from this forum to Montreal forum, someone teleport me there tmrw night - rooting for Habs in this one, it’ll be a funner & no maple leaf garden party🏒🥅however it says Leafs in the quote for a reason - they’ve outscored us, & most teams too, from the start of the season

somehow we gotta separate from the cluster & move toward Tor/Flor - everyone is good in our division

out of the woods we are not - but we’re Bruins, we’re used to the woods - that’s what our division is like right now - you can hardly tell the forest from the trees

🥅But Black & Gold Is Easy To Spot, So Let’s Go Boys🏒

Ft Wayne - it’s the Erie PA of the NBA - in Erie, some root for Browns, 80 miles away - some for Bills, about the same

Yeah Indianapolis is 124 miles from Ft Wayne

but Detroit isn’t that much further at 162 miles …. even tho it’s in Indiana, bettin as many Pistons fans as Paciz fans in Ft Wayne - after all, it’s the birthplace of, yep - the Ft Wayne Zollner Pistons (1941-48, NBL)

then they just made it the Ft Wayne Pistons when they joined the NBA in 1948

…up until that fateful day in 1957, when the Pistons moved to Detroit, more than 3 hours away

FF to 2025 & Pistons are back - both they & Indy are very good, potentially explosive teams - rooting for Ft Wayne tonite😵‍💫🏀👽to keep it a cluster in their division - they split their 2 games this season - hoops in the Hoosier heartland

da Bulls - let’s see how it goes - if all hands on deck & we play our game, we should be fine - there Have been inconsistencies….that come from out of nowhere - it’s a Long season -

we acknowledge NYK, the hottest team in the league - we visit MSG next wknd - if we don’t play top-shelf Celtics basketball then the game will be a bust, Win Or Lose - it’s that critical - whether sheet or court, MSG is our own private hell, always has been, incl the old MSG

Have never fully gotten it, but always take note every year when the appearance of Punxsutawney Phil is announced by two behatted men, one of whom is holding the furry little critter

it’s a harbinger, a lodestar along the life path, when the little woodchuck shows up - you know it’s the height of winter, now the days get longer, the skiing better

dont know how far back in culture/lore Punxsutawney Phil goes

but it’s one of those folksy grassroots, uniquely American events & a happy unchanging annual reminder

sometimes, when something seemingly means nothing/amounts to squat etc - it can mean a lot

Habs

they’ve won 11 of 14 & are breathing down our neck - Det is still going

just like that, Habs are L5 - Det, yep - a 180 the other way, W5 going into their game at Vanc

bottom line, we’ve played more games than anyone in our division & are likely to stay stuck in that cluster awhile longer - but standings fluctuate regularly in Atlantic div

Yar Broonz, we smacked Rangiz heah ystrdy, let’s smack em down theah Wed too - we’ve taken some smackings lately

🏒Ottawa has made its move, now we gotta make ours going into the AS break - the time to roll like our logo is now boys, gotta have that W over MN going into MSG Wed🥅
