@stephen: Booker ends up with 47........he can only be described as ridiculous. And there are so many MVP candidates in the NBA this year that it's also ridiculous. Let's not forget Damian Lillard. As far as The Lakers, I'm not sure that in the long run the Anthony Davis trade is going to be such a great thing for their future. I know they won it all last year and it's hard to argue with that. But Davis, still only in his 20's, looks like he will have nagging injuries throughout his career. As Shaq said, hard to understand why they even played Davis last night. Lakers gave up SO much to get Davis, including rising star Brandon Ingram, Lonzo Ball and FOUR first round picks!!! Like I said, championships are hard to argue with, but the Lakers may have seriously mortgaged their future to do it.
Phoenix - Denver is going to be a great series!!

Yes it will robslob (Phx-Dnvr), & ditto on Nikola Jocik too, Immensely talented player - could go round & roundabout the various attributes of him, Giannis & Embiid - centers that compare w/most any
Yep, Bklyn-Mil, another corker - game 7 LAC-Dallas, hmmmm, tough call - it’s a wrap for Clips if they play DeMarcus Cousins & Serge Ibaka😒😜 - Kristaps came up empty, Kawhi a monster night & Reggie Jackson hit it outta the park for LA😜
if Embiid healed up & they got past hot ‘lanta - I’d like Phila’s chances as well as Nets or Bucks for finals✌️🤙

Bucks got CRUSHED. I'm not surprised actually, I was actually worried when I heard James Harden got injured. The Nets have so many weapons, they are almost better when they are down one, especially Harden. Bucks will be done if they can't turn things around at home.

Good point, that 3some was hardly intact at all this season but they still had one of the top records - won’t be another rout like that - have noticed former LAC force DeAndre Jordan is no longer in their rotation - bumped by Griffin’s arrival/Durant’s return
can relate about the possibility of being done, Bs down 3-2 - envision Jazz over LA - CP clutch in crunch time last night for Phx

Ok, I give up, who are the "Bs"? The Bucks?

Posted by: @stephenIt’s my bad PCBob - w/so few sports minded & no hockey fans, I thought I’d put puck as well as hoop posts in the thread - kinda merge em I guess - a ‘hijacking’ of sorts I guess, not so cool....
have tried to keep it to topic w/mostly hoop posts - haven’t always succeeded tho😮🤙 - Yep Bucks will be right there, could be their year!
just one of my 🥅 🏒 asides - howabout Habs, yow
Still say it could be Bucks’ year - also continue to insist a shame no love for their 1971 team & players

@stephen ah gotcha.
1970s champs (Bullets, Sonics, Blazers, Warriors, etc) seem to get forgotten, maybe it's because the ABA was hot competition. Bucks even lost to the C's in 1974 when they were in the Western conference, something a lot of Bucks fans today probably don't even remember.
Bucks won't be around long if they play like they did last night.

Yeah that was the Big O’s last year (‘74) - watta tandem that was tho, Kareem just starting out, Oscar a veteran - they were some teams - Jabbar has been quoted that Larry Costello was the best NBA coach he ever had
hoping/guessing present-day team’ll make a series of it

Phx moves on, surprising sweep altho no Jamal Murray was big for Den, then Nikola ejected 2nd half tonite - Really rootin for Jazz to set up conf final w/them, the 2 top teams
Mike Conley has missed the series so far, he’s as key in Utah’s scheme of things as Murray was in Nugs’

Dominant win for Clippers last night to pull even with Jazz, 2-2. I agree Stephen, Mike Conley's absence really hurting the Jazz who have become the Donovan Mitchell show. That said, Clippers are showing that when Kawhi Leonard and Paul George both have it going on, they have enough to compete with anybody. Marcus Morris was huge for Clips last night, 5-5 in the first half from 3 point land. Pulling for Clippers to make the Conference Finals for the very first time in their 51 year history. (Think about that.......that's got to be some kind of record for futility). Just hoping here that Leonard's injury is not serious, he was bothered by some kind of ailment at the end of last night's game.
Leonard says injury is nothing to be concerned about:
https://www.si.com/nba/clippers/news/kawhi-leonard-on-apparent-knee-injury-ill-be-good

CLIPPERS CLIPPERS CLIPPERS
For them to pull it out in Utah without Kawhi was a SHOCKER but that's a huge understatement. I've never thought much of Paul George but he sure put it in my face last night! 37 points 16 boards. Marcus Morris and Reggie Jackson came up big in support of George.
Love what Charles Barkley said after the game: "Game 6 is The Clippers' game 7. They are not going to beat Utah in Utah two straight games." Yeah, pretty doubtful that they could.

I was pretty surprised they pulled it out too. I mean, everyone was. Also, the Hawks comeback was pretty epic. Didn't see that coming.

@porkchopbob: Nets just CANNOT keep the big 3 healthy and it took 49 points by Durant to win that last game in Brooklyn. Can he do it again in game 7? Doubtful I say but you never know. Irving is out (I assume for game 7, looked like a bad sprain) and Harden is playing hurt. I'm picking the Bucks to close this thing out. If Durant, Harden and Irving were all healthy I don't think this series would be much of an issue.
Two possible elimination games tonight. GO CLIPPERS!!!

they came to play (1st half), then went away (2nd half), who needs Kawhi, they had Terance Mann……
big disappointment for Jazz

@stephen Yeah, was Mann UNREAL or what? Seems every year some unknown rises up in the playoffs.
I see an intensity and passion in The Clippers that just was NOT there before Tyrone Lu came in as head Coach this year. Says a lot about Lu as a Coach and not a whole lot about Doc Rivers who they fired last year. Let's not forget The Clippers blew a 3-1 series lead to Denver last year.
Phoenix vs. L.A. should be a great series but with Leonard out I have to go with Phoenix. Looks like Chris Paul is possibly out though due to COVID protocol which would be a huge blow to The Suns.

@robslob I don't know, Brooklyn has been tough at home, regardless of who is healthy. Lots of injuries all around this postseason, and some teams have managed to pick up the slack.

Ben Simmons is some kind of bad JOKE. I would think the Sixers will do everything in their power to move him in the off-season but he is Philly's second highest paid player after Embiid so who would be willing to pick up that contract? Barkley said it after today's game 7 loss to Atlanta: Simmons is afraid to shoot and not only that, he is terrible at the line as well. How can you depend on someone like that who is supposed to be your second best player? Here's an amazing stat they showed: In 5 out of 7 games in the Atlanta series, Simmons did not have ONE field goal attempt in the 4th quarter!! In the other two he was a combined 3-3.

But also, let's give the Hawks some credit. Did anyone see the #5 knocking off the #1 in 7-games? Now both #1s are out. Bucks can't afford to sleep on the Hawks.
Speaking of, I really thought Brooklyn was going to take Game 7, especially in OT. When Durant launches a ball from deep, you just expect it to go in.

I like the sports threads better, & agree both counts, Ben Simmons is quite overrated, & Atlanta looks like the real deal - along w/G Trae Young, Collins & Capela give them a very effective frontcourt - should be a great series

Fun fact: Before moving to Atlanta from St Louis (where they were the only team to beat Red Auerbach's Celtics in the Finals in 1958), the Hawks played four seasons in Milwaukee. Prior to that, they played in Buffalo and were briefly coached by Red Auerbach.
Coincidentally, the 1901 Milwaukee Brewers moved to St Louis and became the Browns, while the Milwaukee Braves moved directly to Atlanta.

Posted by: @stephen🤙Time will tell robslob - briefly, the penalties fit the crimes, those Phila & NY fans have been permanently banned & the Boston fan has been charged w/assault - presumably he too has been banned - the NY one at MSG was weird, a Knicks fan threw a beer at a Knicks player
if Kemba’s health had held up, imo it’d’ve been a different story - you could be right, Danny himself said he viewed his retirement as “a big step forward” for the franchise
he was as good in the front office as he was on the court, his record proves that & there’s no reason coach Stevens can’t be as successful in his new role as he was on the bench - familiarity is good
Danny coached Phoenix Suns
& was a better player than Michael Jordan
….on the baseball field🌎🦕
Maybe this position is something of interest or more of goal after getting a feel for coaching. Maybe he was just tired of dealing with the players.
I remember 8yrs ago this summer when that bombshell was dropped here in Indy when Brad announced he was leaving. Could not believe it ...right out of the blue. I think alot of people in this city and fans of Butler was hoping he was going to stay and turn this program(small school) into a power house like Coach K did or what Mark Few has done. I hope he succeeds at what he does, but personally I would rather see him back in the college ranks were he can really put his craft to work than wasting his talent dealing with the NBDiva's.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

@jszfunk: "personally I would rather see him back in the college ranks were he can really put his craft to work than wasting his talent dealing with the NBDiva's."
Yeah, possible that's why Brad Stevens decided to step away from the court as a lot of them certainly are "NBDiva's"!
While it's got nothing to do with Boston, I personally think that Ben Simmons is the personification of DIVA. The dude believed ALL his hype coming out of LSU. WHY ISN'T A GUY WHO MAKES THE KIND OF $$$ HE DOES LOCKING HIMSELF IN A GYM 8 HOURS A DAY UNTIL HE LEARNS HOW TO SHOOT A BASKETBALL, both jump shots and free throws? Well, I guess you don't need to when your sh*t smells like perfume..........
Wanna know what Ben Simmons is making? This year he was in the first of his new 5 year deal. He made $30.5 million in 2020-21. By the last year of his deal? It will be over $40 mil. I'm relatively SURE that the Sixers would love to dump him since truth is, all he can do is pass and rebound. For THAT kind of $$$? Who is going to want to pick up that contract? The Sixers fans should boycott their games unless Simmons can: A. Get a jump shot. B. Shoot at least 70% from the line.

Would like to see Bucks win tho don’t particularly care
….but Devin Booker & Trae Young are the two best players in the world right now & a final w/them would be fun
same LA, would be nice to see Rondo, Boogie & their veterans get into the finals & a chance at a title - Paul probable next game, Kawhi still out
What if it was Hawks - riding the pine (essentially), former LAC multi-time NBA 6th man MVP Lou Williams, now much further down in Atl rotation
know little about our new hire, if the team likes em so do I🏀

Like I said, Bucks can't sleep on the Hawks. They are playing lights out right now. Dig deep or go home.
After years of the same Finals matchups, it's kind of nice to have a fresh mix of teams in the mix. Of the current teams left, only the Bucks and Suns have made it to the finals in the past 50 years - the Suns in 1993 and 1976; the Bucks in 1974 and 1971. The Hawks haven't been to the NBA Finals since they were in St Louis. This is the Clippers first trip to the Conference Finals.
I'd think it'd be interesting to see Clippers-Bucks, a healthy Kwahi vs Giannis rematch, but both teams are currently in the hole.

After a game like tonight’s one wonders how Hawks ever walked onto the same court w/Bucks, much less beat them 1st game

Someone must have had a word with Ben Simmons. I assume it was Doc Rivers.
https://www.yahoo.com/sports/ben-simmons-opts-out-of-olympics-to-work-on-shooting-225326547.html

The Suns sure turned it up last night - they were hitting everything. Giannis is going to have to step it up on Thursday.
