Herbie Mann and Duane Allman.

I hear some licks in Duane's solo that he used in the Allman Brothers Band. What if he had lived to be 80 or more. H. Duane Allman may have been the most famous and revered electric guitar player in the world in 2024.

I'm sure from the licks the first guitar solo is HDA.

Been listening to a lot of John Fahey stuff lately, learning some of his songs in open C tuning. Current cd of his would be The Dance Of Death And Other Plantation Favorites

Gloria Lynne.  Heard one of her tunes on Jazz88.org.  Had to play some more.  What a voice 😎

Issac Hayes, The Look Of Love,

Fantastic version w/a Spooky tease in the middle, bomb guitar heavy on the wah wah pedal etc

& a so-cool heavily-echoed ending, esp w/headphones🎵🎶

Issac (RIP) is one of the great interpreters in the history of music

his later take of the Penguins’ Don’t Let Go, I mean not since Shaft was there ever such a cool cat singing a song😜🎼🤙

@stratdal That is a great song for Gregg. Dan Toler very nice on the guitar.

That is Gregg's second best selling solo album and his other one beside Laid Back to go gold ( 500,000 or more copies).

This band was one of the favorites of one of the Hispanics killed when the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapsed.

They were playing this in his memory. Nice celebration of his life with so many people dancing.

My favorite Gregg album.  He loved R&B and had fun making it.  The 80s were good times!

Good audio for this December 1970 Allman Brothers show.

I remember a friend I had in 1970 say to me at a summer 1970 show in North Carolina " Man they sure are skinny but they sure can swing!"

Actually Jaimoe and Dickey had muscular arms back then. Especially Jaimoe.

I've seen in print and on TV when Buddy Rich died of a brain tumor in 1987 that was the end of that kind of drumming!!

Never again will be see/hear that kind of speed, timing, accents and drive on the drums again!!

NOT!! Here is a man like the Lone Ranger wants to keep his identity a secret. But it NAILS Buddy on the blazing fast jazz diddy that ordinarily would separate Buddy from all other drummers!! Check this out and hang on.

There's some compelling drumming on this one too, amongst other things. Great song, great singing, great organ , great bass.

April 4th is Raymond Berry Oakley, 3rd's birthday.

He would have been 76 today.

Here he is singing lead vocals with Dale Betts.

And live with the Allman Brothers where they were playing at the absolute top of their game!

Jeez, I still haven't listened to the Derek and the Dominoes LP yet this spring. It is my official spring fever record. Sometimes gives my that ting. I felt that excitement for spring in my gut when I happened to rewatch this.
