Anybody ever heard of this girl?  I hadn't until YouTube led me to her just now.  Wowie Zowie is about all I can say!  She really wails, but you'll know if you take the time to watch this all they way through.  She's 27 years old and lives in Kilgore, Texas, 120 miles east of Dallas.  This is a 10 minute video but if you just want to hear her play some really wailing blues guitar, go to the 5 minute mark.

Yes, I have. I also have a few of her albums. She is a good guitar player.

Me? Never heard of her. But I have now. From the same West Virginia show covering Hendrix. 56 years after his passing a 27 year old pays her respects.

@robertdee:  She's really into Stevie Ray as well, I heard a great instrumental tribute yesterday.  I'm brand new to her as well.

I've been wondering if she's related to Troy Venable, 90's ABB guitar tech.  He was from Tennessee and she is from Texas, so possibly not.

Also on the first video from the Wheeling, WVa show she seemed to have some Billy F. Gibbons licks.

She must have been very young when she was turned on to those blues/rock greats. She is just 27.

Yes until today I had never heard of her. There is another lady player I heard about in a Susan Tedeshi interview last year and I found some of her videos and she also was good but this young lady may be better. Susan is big on a young lady with the last name Foley. I can't remember the first name right now.

Here is a clip. I guess one could say she has a Texas blues style ( Billy F. Gibbons/SRV) but has her own style mixed in.

robertdee, my guess is that you're referring to Sue Foley.  I've seen her a couple of times and enjoyed the shows.  She's also featured occasionally on BB King's Bluesville Sirius/XM channel.

Ally played in our club in our small town close to Frankfurt/Germany in March this year. I made a video from the whole show with a good camera and separate micro. Ally allowed to publish a few songs but not the whole show. Here is the link (around 40 minutes)

If you want to see the whole show, please send me a private message.

@randall Sue Foley is probably right. The videos I watched she played a pink Telecaster and played it well too.

Just a quick comparison. Duane Allman was ONLY 24 YEARS OLD when he exploded live with this solo. I know we shouldn't compare different styles but just looking at pure kick ass energy. Have you ever heard Eric Clapton, Derek Trucks, Warren Haynes, Dickey Betts, Billy F. Gibbons and other of our favorites step on the gas during a solo like this?

I first saw Sue Foley opening for Buddy Guy around 1992.

I've seen Ally Venable a couple times too. Both are good players
