I love some of Jaimoe's quotes in the new Gregg Allman documentary. Sample quote (I paraphrase): "I was planning on moving to New York to play jazz. Then I met Duane Allman, and that all changed. I thought, 'I can play jazz right here, with this dude'. Whoever would have thought of starting a band with two guitar players and two drummers? I don't think anyone would have thought that would work. But that was Duane's vision."

Supposedly Phil Walden bought Duane's contract from Jerry Wexler of Atlantic Records and Phil wanted Duane to put together a hot trio and introduced Jaimoe to Duane. They jammed and liked each other and Jaimoe canceled his plans to move to New York City and find a jazz band.
They went to Florida to steal Berry Oakley from the Second Coming and that was the trio. After recording a few tracks at Muscle Shoals, Duane lost interest in a trio and when they arrived in Macon for Phil to get them some transportation to use and sound equipment there were SIX of them!!
