Duane on Blue Sky
Just saw this on FB. Isolated Duane on Blue Sky.
I needed something like this today
Just a beautiful song. Amazing how Duane could be so intense and could also play so pretty. Dickey too.
Thanks, I loved that
What struck me is how much space he leaves in his parts. He really lets it breathe.
Bonamassa would pick 17 notes in each of Duane rests.
Very cool find. Thanks for sharing.
This may be the actual last note for Duane on Electric guitar. Dickey said that and Gregg thought that was right. They recorded Standback, Blue Sky and Little Martha. They were all tired and decided to take a break then return later and finish the album.
Apparently they didn't have a name for the album then either. After Duane died, Butch indicated Capricorn had "The Kind They Grow In Dixie " for the name. Butch told Phil that sucked and said Duane once said " There ain't no revolution just evolution and when I'm in Georgia I eat a Peach for peace". I think Butch said to Phil name it " Eat A Peach To Peace" and Butch said someone shortened that to "Eat A Peach".
It was their first album to go Platinum (over 1 million in sales) and peaked at No. 4 out of 200 on the album chart. Of course Fillmore East later passed 1 million in sales.
Eat A Peach is not only one of the absolute best Allman Brothers albums but a great album compared to other rock albums.
The interplay between Duane & Dickey on Blue Sky is darn near a religious experience... I listen to it everyday...
That’a great!
thank you
Thanks for starting my morning out right
