Tonight's Warren show was at another level. Instrumental Illness > Machine Gun > Instrumental Illness re-defined the Allman Brothers' instrumental. Across the stage the players stood stalwart jamming like a musical infield during the playoffs. The positions were: mandolin, electric banjo, Warren, bass, and fiddle all taking direction from Warren. Each player taking a spot and riding hard.

I knew when Warren opened with Tough Mama, a Dylan tune covered by Garcia's Legion of Mary that the night was going to go deep and it did.

The venue was only half sold so I really felt like I was in on a secret. A great, magical tour that people will talk about for years.

I used to spend time in DC years ago. The Warner Theatre was called the Earl Theatre back in the day. 

Harry Warner ( one of the four Warner Brothers, Harry, Albert, Jack and Sam, of Warner Brothers Pictures) bought the theatre without ever seeing it. 

Mr. Warner while in Washington on business decided to visit his theatre and when leaving, the management escorted the owner out to the sidewalk and Warner looked up at the front of the theatre and said " I own this place so put my name up there!" 

According to the story Harry Warner never visited again. 

Another funny Warner Brothers story is at the main studio complex in Burbank, California, actor Warren Beatty ( WB ) got into a shouting match with Jack Warner and when he stormed out Mr. Warner's office Warren Beatty turned at the door and faced Jack Warner and said " By the way I appreciate you putting MY INITIALS on the big water tower outside!"
