Probly belongs in The Cosmos Are At It Again thread too, but anyways....

The Polar Vortex Is Splitting In Two
Which Will Trigger Weeks Of Wild Winter Weather

That’s verbatim from the Washington Post
Gina? Any merit to it?

There may be some Canadian cold air arriving in the last couple of weeks of January per Joe Cioffi, but the Siberian, Arctic Cold should hold off till February.

NC - snow for you folks.  Charlotte, up to eight inches.  If you don't have proper snow removal equipment, do what we do up here, hire someone to do it.  Call them before the storm and book them, like landscapers.

I have never met a snow storm I could not handle till the last one.  The stuff was like cement.  I caved in after two days and faced reality.  No blower was getting thru the stuff the plow left.  I couldn't shovel more than six feet of boulders.

Up here home improvement contractors supplement their incomes doing snow removal.  Pricey, yes, [$100 for a regular driveway], worth it? Yes.

Bunch of ice here!  Sucks.

I have a snow plow, I get kind of excited for big snow events, we were supposed to get 8", maybe even up to a foot!  Instead we got sleet and freezing rain last night.  What a mess.  Can't plow ice.  Spent a few hours chipping 1/4" of ice with minimal success.
