It looks like St. Louis, etc. etc. It looks like the Black Lives Matter Protests we had in NYC. Are we on the verge of a race revolution in this country?

"The flashpoint for Charlotte's unrest was Tuesday's fatal police shooting of Keith Scott, 43, who according to police was armed with a handgun and refused officers' orders to drop the weapon. His family and a witness to the shooting said Scott was holding a book, not a firearm. " North Carolina's mayor later declared a state of emergency amid the unrest and said the National Guard and state highway patrol troopers would be sent to help police in Charlotte. Charlotte Police Chief Kerr Putney initially reported that a person shot during the protest had died, but city officials later posted a Twitter message saying the individual had been hospitalized in critical condition on life support.

Not sure, but President Obama has been a huge disappointment to the black community. He failed them.

Race relations are really bad right now under a black President.

Do you think last nite was a "peaceful protest"

Just curious, Goober, were you alive in the late 60's? Ever hear of the riots in Detroit Watts and Newark? Was Obama president then?

I don't think so, but if you ask a random person at a Trump rally they probably would blame Obama for the 1992 Los Angeles Riot.

The officer that shot this person was African American.

People might be protesting, but a lot of rioting, looting and vandalism.

Maybe Obama is to blame. The LA Riot was years after the plan would set in place for a foreign born baby to have his birth announcement put in a Hawaii newspaper so he could become POTUS years later. Anything is possible.

Video from the scene from the phone of the dead man's wife. She said he had a TBI (which means traumatic brain injury) and had just taken his meds. There is a point where you can hear something that sounds like a single shot. She is yelling he is not armed, you can clearly hear the police telling him to drop the gun, many, many times, she is yelling from a distance that he doesn't have a gun. She also yelled at her son "Keith, don't do it" several times.

Well if he had the faculties of a MAN, why did his wife think she needed to tell him what to do? Maybe we need to know the nature of his traumatic brain injury and what meds he was on. A police officer is telling him to drop the gun and they wanted him to get out of the truck, they say they will get an officer with a baton to break the window of the truck to get him out of the car. Why didn't he obey the commands of the police? Was he retarded? I called him a boy because from the video it sounded like a Mother telling her child what to do. I have revised the original post since you pointed out that age wise he is a man. Emotionally, and mentally what age was he? That is not known at this point.

The police arrived at the apartment complex with a warrant to arrest someone else when they came upon Mr. Scott.

http://www.nbcnews.com/news/us-news/man-arrested-fatal-shooting-charlotte-protester-police-chief-says-n653391

Photo beneath the two videos

"Police arrived at The Village at College Downs complex near the University of North Carolina at Charlotte to search for someone else with an outstanding warrant. Officers said they saw Scott holding a handgun as he exited his car and returned to his vehicle. He then exited again as officers approached him and became threatening, police said."

A photo, previously obtained by NBC News from local affiliate WCNC, appears to show a gun at the scene.

REMARKS: The people are protesting just because he was black and was shot. Photo in video of gun laying at Scott's feet when he was shot which supports what the police have said that when Scott emerged from the truck, he had a gun and was acting in a threatening manner. His Wife said he had a book not a gun, no book was found at the scene.

Someone with a traumatic brain injury who is on meds should not have access to a handgun. And if he needs his wife to tell him how to behave, what to do when confronted by the police, then he does not have the faculties of a functioning adult. The truth is the truth. People are protesting saying this poor innocent black man was killed for no reason, but now we see there was a gun on the ground near him. In a situation like this, IF someone is innocent and the cops tell you to get out of your truck, you put your hands up, get out and answer their questions. He did not do that. Why not? Either he was hiding something, or was messed up emotionally and did not know how to respond. But all the crowd is looking at is his color and that he was shot.

Are there two or more sets of laws for people? One for black people one for others? Blacks do not have to obey a police officer's command, but white people do?

A mentally compromised person can point or have a gun and not obey a police officer, but that's okay, they don't know any better so just let them do whatever they want? Did you learn nothing from the Sandy Hook shootings?

Wait a minute...I though you were against background checks and restrictions on who should be able to have a gun? Has that changed? Now your against people with traumatic brain injuries having guns?

Against background checks? No, I am not against that. I just think the laws that we already have are good enough for that. I also think that EVERY household should be able to have a shotgun to protect themselves from intruders, a handgun is more dangerous and requires more training. It doesn't take much to point a shotgun and put a four inch hole in someone and robbers, thieves know that. That includes households with a mentally dysfunctional person in it, though THAT person should not have access to the weapon.

People with traumatic brain injuries can have a wide variety of problems, many are paralyzed, partially or fully, some were oxygen starved during birth, or damaged by a forceps delivery, some were in accidents. So yes I would be against anyone with a tbi having a gun. If they are physically functional they could be able to have a stun gun baton in the house to defend themselves with, but only in the house.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/brentley-vinson-the-charlotte-cop-involved-in-deadly-shooting-171358198.html

Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department Chief Kerr Putney said that Scott stepped out of the vehicle with a handgun and did not drop the weapon despite “loud and clear verbal commands,” which were corroborated by witnesses,” prompting Vinson to shoot. Putney said there are at least two videos of the fatal encounter — from a police dash camera and a body camera — but has declined to release them to the general public because he does not want the footage to interfere with the integrity of the investigation.

Joe Bruno
✔ ‎@JoeBrunoWSOC9 Officer Brantley Vinson grew up in Charlotte. His father was one of the first black detectives for the Charlotte Police Department. His football coach at Jay M. Robinson Middle School, Larry Kennedy, told the local paper that he would frequently talk about one day becoming a federal officer. “I thought when he became a police officer like his dad [Alex] that it was a perfect fit for him,” Kennedy said to the Charlotte Observer. “I’ve watched this kid work his butt off from an early age. … He’s a phenomenal kid and happens to be in an unfortunate situation right now, and I hate to see him be in the middle of it and being vilified the way he is.”

Then you shouldn't have access to the weapon in your household.

It's just that kind of whacko who opened fire in that Houston mall this morning -- 9 wounded last count, gunman dead

you can't legislate a sick mind -- mass shootings continue to rise at an alarming rate -- not just in North Carolina but everywhere

My bad, was looking at title of thread

the guy in Houston was a lawyer disgruntled with things at his law office, the radio said
right here in NH (Claremont), a 16 year old boy was shot and killed by police -- cloudy circumstances --
3 people, including a local pastor were arrested at a rally protesting police brutality in Tempe, AZ

something is horrifically wrong in this country -- it's gun violence & no legislation can curb it
