Don't forget Pete Rose to the Hall Of Fame while we're at it... Barry Bonds too...

Good old Youngstown!

I have to tell you, it does really feel good to always get attention from high profile national political candidates at election time, just to have the circus close to home and watch from afar if nothing else. Not often however does a sitting President in an off-election year visit.

I didn't attend the rally. I did attend a Sanders rally at that same location last summer and also saw Trump last time he came the same day.

Still getting caught up on the news of the evening today.

Trump calls for unity? Well, he has always said that, always called for that since day 1. Problem is he doesn't take any steps in that direction and does more to undermine unity than anyone. Now many 'on the other side' would likely "resist", but some would likely join a genuine attempt at unity and bipartisanship. Trump has done nothing to foster this. Still just alot of talk like everything else he does.

The clown tour of campaigning continues - A speech in which he said he could be more presidential than any other president than Lincoln. That line should have been saved for a comedy club.

A campaign event in Ohio the day after he delivered a highly charged and inappropriate political speech to boy scouts in West Va. Read the highlights of his disgusting speech to 12 to 18 year olds. He really is is incapable of knowing where to draw the line.

36% approval rating nationwide, lowest of any sitting president in 70 years.

The proof that he's making America Great Again & at the same time 1) making oodles of more money for his family and 2) trying to be the greatest autocrat who has ever been POTUS.

If a Trump supporter can so easily excuse his disgraceful behavior, imagine what else the supporter excuses in his home and with family. Anything goes I guess. Imagine the lessons being taught. the insecuritiies, the materialistic values, etc. What a nightmare.

I thought Clinton's and Nixon's were lower during the Monica Lewinsky/Watergate eras -- articles of impeachment were drawn up in both cases

What's going on in Youngstown?

Poverty and unemployment.

Hey now! Y-town has come a long way. Downtown used to be a place people avoided, but has experienced alot of development and attention. It's been helped by alot of growth at the University and also an indoor arena that Trump held his rally at which also hosts minor league hockey and at one time was home to a short lived minor league arena football team. The Cleveland Indians have a minor league program here as well. Some big name musicians have been hitting Youngstown. Elton John has stopped here a few times recently and Zac Brown will be here later this summer.

There is still industry here. Plenty of small specialty fabrication and steel treatment facilities along with a large French owned steel mill that produces steel pipe used in the gas and oil industry. Just west of the metro area GM has a large plant where the Chevy Cruze is made that bounces between 2 and 3 shifts as demand fluctuates. North is the Air Force Reserve Base that also handles some commercial flights.

Most live in the suburbs. Youngstown's east and south sides are still rough. The city K-12 schools are pretty bad. They've accelerated tearing down vacant homes, but there are still plenty around. Drugs and crime remain a problem, but not on the scale of 10-20 years ago.

Mill Creek Park is an absolute gem if you are ever in the area.

Former Mayor Jay Williams was picked to work in the Obama Administration. Trump also has a Youngstown native in his staff.

[Edited on 7/26/2017 by pops42]

pops has yet to figure out how the corrupt liberal media can craft a poll and select exactly who they will poll to achieve the results they have pre-determined.
This of course coming from the idiot that didn't think Donald Trump would be elected President.

The old adage "you can't fix stupid" holds true.
