It took President Donald Trump less than an hour to criticize Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier for resigning Monday from the White House’s American Manufacturing Council. Meanwhile, it’s been two days since white nationalists and neo-Nazis overtook a college town in Virginia, and Trump has yet to publicly condemn them.

Frazier, an African-American, announced on Twitter Monday that it was Trump’s inadequate response to Charlottesville that forced him to resign from the president’s council.

“Our country’s strength stems from its diversity and the contributions made by men and women of different faiths, races, sexual orientations and political beliefs,” Frazier said in a statement. “America’s leaders must honor our fundamental values by clearly rejecting expressions of hatred, bigotry and group supremacy, which run counter to the American ideal that all people are created equal.”

“As CEO of Merck and as a matter of personal conscience, I feel a responsibility to take a stand against intolerance and extremism,” Frazier added.

Trump wasted little time Monday to hit back at Frazier for his moral stance.

Really? I think you're the one dense here. The guy quit over Trumps' response to the violence in Charlotteville.
The violence in C'ville started when a group of white people gathered to protest the removal of a statue of RE Lee. Counter protesters came onto the scene trying to stop the first group from exercising their 1st amendment rights to protest, the same right as anyone else.
A person (James Alex Fields, Jr) ran a car into the counter protesters (note: four blocks from the rally), killing one and injuring 19 others.
The female killed in the incident (Heather Heyer) is now being canonized as a hero for free speech.
Unrelated, two state troopers died in a helicopter crash.
The two sides continued to meet and fight until at the end 3 people were reported as dead and 34 injured.

Those who came to protest (a constitutional right) the removal of the statue are reviled.
Those who came to stop them from protesting ( a violation of their constitutional rights) are glorified.
The violence during the protests is being blamed on the protesters, the ones fighting the protesters are being praised.
Both sides are critical of the police response during the protests and have filed complaints.

Many of the posters on this site who are criticizing those protesting the removal of the statue, and have no problem with trying to throttle their freedom of speech, don't criticize the violence of the counter protesters

Those protesting the removal of the statue had as much right to their protest and freedom of speech as does a football player who chooses to sit or kneel during the national anthem.
If you are against one group protesting, you have to be against all groups protesting.

I'm not minimizing the violence or supportive of it.

The fact is that the guy quit in protest over Trump's response to the protestors.

You don't have to follow their rhetoric.

They still have the right to free speech and protest.

Two videos of the car hitting the protestors can be found on USA Today
https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/2017/08/12/charlottesville-protest-what-we-know-now/562372001/
scroll down and view the photos.

I also blame the police for not clearing weapons and other dangerous items from the ranks of protestors and counter protestors. There is no excuse for the batons, bats, tire irons, tear gas (protestors on both sides had it), and spray cans used as impromptu blow torches being allowed in a situation as tense as they knew this would be.

You dare characterize this as "Protest"? Hundreds of armed Nazis march openly in an American city, carrying torches, chanting "Blood and Soil" and evoking centuries of slavery, oppression and murder over skin color, one of whom uses a muscle car to slaughter and maim - not bottles, not piss balloons or spray cans but several tons of metal at high speeds, and you believe both sides are to be condemned equally, as does that putrid megalomaniac befouling the Oval Office. Says a lot. Sort of like…you sympathize.

This wasn't protest - this was nazi KKK domestic terror. Or do you think Timothy McVeigh and Dylann Roof were "protesting"?

GOP figures like Ted Cruz, Chuck Grassley, Orrin Hatch, and Paul Ryan denounced the racist violence immediately. Cruz released a statement describing "Nazis, the KKK, and white supremacists" as "repulsive" and urging "the Department of Justice to immediately investigate and prosecute this grotesque act of domestic terrorism."

at least some conservatives know right from wrong.

Again, you characterize an invasion of an American city by armed Nazis and Klansmen chanting, burning torches, murdering and maiming as a mere "protest" and "disagreement". Clearly you are a sympathizer. I'd say you should be ashamed but it seems that you, like Trump, are incapable of it and in fact feel justified because the terror was committed by those with whom you sympathize. I guess Adolf and Forrest just had a point of view.

Two more executives quit Trump's council
Moments after President Trump's off-the-rails news conference, AFL-CIO President Richard Trumka and Thea Lee are the fifth and sixth top business leaders to quit Trump's manufacturing council. Scott Paul of Alliance for American Manufacturing, Merck CEO Kenneth Frazier, Under Armour CEO Kevin Plank and Intel CEO Brian Krzanich all quit the presidential manufacturing council after Trump took two days to denounce white supremacy.

But he's good for business. That he will tell you. 😛

Trump attacks black CEO who resigned from White House council over response to Charlottesville protests
Kenneth Frazier resigned from Trump's American Manufacturing Council after he felt Trump failed to denounce racism

So he resigned in protest of people protesting?

Are you really this dense? Actually…there is plenty of evidence that you are - I withdraw the question.

So, to you, the Nazis were just some guys who like a statue and wanted to voice their opinions?

Mack, you must be really dense or can't read above a third grade level if you don't understand enough of what I posted to come up with a comment like that.

it makes me believe that you don't believe in the right of protest.

It was a gathering of HATE GROUPS: Neo nazi, Klan, and other white supremacist scumbags. I guess YOU think thats just fine and dandy, like trump.

So you think that only people you agree with have the right to protest??

Again, you characterize an invasion of an American city by armed Nazis and Klansmen chanting, burning torches, murdering and maiming as a mere "protest" and "disagreement". Clearly you are a sympathizer. I'd say you should be ashamed but it seems that you, like Trump, are incapable of it and in fact feel justified because the terror was committed by those with whom you sympathize. I guess Adolf and Forrest just had a point of view.

Your total lack of reading comprehension amazes me. Your parents need to get a refund from your local school district.

This is where you went off the rails. It is ok by you to protest a statue being removed (constitutional), but a protest against hate is somehow a violation of the constitution? They didn't come to stop them from protesting..... they came to also express their opinion - against hate and the the KKK. I think you need to think about it some more and take off your blinders......

Group A hates due to their belief system and Group B says it's wrong. Then Group B hates Group A due their belief system and their hate is okay? I don't get it.

Hate is hate and it is wrong<--IMHO

Hate Group B = X + MSM > Truth

So you support the Nazis and the alt-right? They are OK in your book? Fine people, right?

Keep in mind, a woman was killed and 19 others were injured by a member of the hate group. T

You need to get over blaming the media for everything that yiu don't like. It is weak and disingenuous.

There was a little thing called World War II. Perhaps you heard of it. There was a man called Adolf Hitler and there was a Nazi Party. Perhaps you heard of them. There was a thing called the Holocaust in which millions were rounded up and murdered because white supremacists thought they were inferior. Perhaps you heard of it. There was a domestic terrorist organization called the Ku Klux Klan which was comprised of American white supremacists. Perhaps you heard of them - they drive muscle cars into pedestrians, they're alive and well today and just killed a woman. They conducted a reign of terror against blacks and Jews which continues today. Perhaps you heard of this. They arose out of an America in which blacks were legally enslaved and treated like cattle. Perhaps you heard of slavery in the United States. They used to wear sheets and hoods to conceal their identities - they don't need to anymore because the abomination who stains the White House is their friend and actually employs them to advise him. Now they wear suits and ties and occasionally hold public office.

I would ask if this helps you "get it" but I don't hold out much hope. If you don't understand the depth of abhorrence, revulsion and outrage Nazism, fascism, the Klan and white supremacy can and should inspire, then there are pieces missing.

I think this thread is a good example of why we can't get anywhere. We have to stop pretending that "protesting" can only mean a positive act of patriotism. It's also other things. I fully respect any peaceful protest or protester, but let's stop fooling ourselves that they are used only for that reason. They are also outlets and platforms for people to release their most passionate emotions - why else take the time to plan and attend? And now, some are just places where people go who want to fight, verbally and physically. Yes, these neo nazis should be eradicated, but an angry mob chasing them out in a hostile manner is not the answer - it's not what Obama would've wanted from the left. He would've wanted a better strategy for countering them - something that didn't involve fighting.
