Trump Already Breaking the Mold
When you have to pay for your own car, you are smart enough to know to not purchase paint protection or rust proofing as these are just pure profit markups. Since Trump bought and manages his own airplane I assume he can sense where the dealership is having a field day with the current person responsible for signing the purchase orders.
Based on the length of a 777 jetliner (250 feet) that's approximately 16 million dollars a foot.
Tulsi Gabbard maybe for UN Ambassador??? Ahhh, some bipartisanship (somewhat)..... Everyone's thoughts? I like it.
I like it too. I do hope that we get some bipartisan appointees. I remember President Obama appointing Republican Judd Gregg for Commerce. Good move by the President, Gregg was just the wrong man. Robert Gates is another...sometimes those moves don't work. Maybe President shouldn't have picked Gates and maybe Gates should've declined.
I would've liked to be a fly on the wall for Trump's meeting with Gabbard. They likely share many of the same views on foreign policy, at least in terms of nonintervension. I think that is the big thing, the President and the nominee/pick has to be on the same page with similar beliefs. Which is why I object so strongly to alot of the candidates Trump apparently is weighing for State. Some of the names make no sense compared to what we think Trump believes.
I wonder though if Democrats may face some retribution if they serve in a Republican administration? Service to country should be paramount, but seems that people who do so are not looked favorably among their colleagues.
I also wonder how much Trump would do on his own if he didn't have Priebus talking in his ear. He picked Priebus and Trump is learning on the fly with alot of this stuff, not really a good thing even though some unconventional ideas that may come out of it can be good, but I don't think he himself cares if he picks Rs or Ds for a job. However the Republican machine won't stand for too much bipartisanship.
President Elect Trump has cancelled the order for a new Air Force One, over $4 Billion. He considers the cost way out of line and made a business decision not to proceed. Good for him.
You do know that $4 billion is a projection by one independent consultant and Boeing hasn't even come close to what the final cost may be? That the outlay to Boeing so far has been $170 million? That's a far cry from $4 billion.
Nah, of course not. You don't care.
Tell you what though, if Barack Obama had ever said "We want Company X to make a lot of money, but not that much money," you'd call for his impeachment for being a enemy of the free market system.
Not to mention the drop in stock the Boeing just took? Wait, I know, be an opportunist. Every time Trump bags on a corporation, take advantage on the price dip. Never let a crisis go to waste!

______________________________________________________________________________________The Air Force One model does come with some nice (necessary) toys though.
It isn't just one plane. Two were to be built. The current plane works just fine and The Air Force has certified it for at least five more years.
While a new plane might be nice it isn't necessary.
We are $20 Trillion in debt.I wonder what the undercoat would cost?

Here's what I do care about. A politician defending taxpayers, and exhibiting the rare trait of approaching things from a cost/benefit standpoint. I consider this a good sign of things to come.

Even though it's based on an easily provable lie? Nice standards. For all we know, it was a temper tantrum response to someone who dare criticize him. He has a hard time with criticism.
Predictably, you cut off the part about the effect of President-elect statements on the markets. Must be good with you, certainly wouldn't have been before now. Hopefully he won't criticize a company in your portfolio on upcoming business contracts they may have.
WAIT A SECOND! I know who can make the next fleet of Air Force Ones! Airbus! Since there isn't another American company that makes airliners, this is perfect! Expanding our global footprint!
No, duh, scratch that shizz. It's right in front of us.
Tupolev makes airliners, based outta Moscow. Perfect for Trump. Make Russia Great Again!

Made me wonder, what does Putin fly around in? A fighter jet?
Boeing stock closed in positive territory the day you voiced your concerns, Mr. Grouchy pants. Cheer up.

The new fleet wouldn't be ready to use until 2024. By then the cost of maintaining a fleet of planes built in the 1980s would be just as costly. I don't get what all the fuss is about building a new fleet of air force one is about.
