B4 that a mini subway series & there is no shea-d in the citi -
the heat is on in Queens - this isn’t what Mets fans expected & in front of a full house, there’ll be a lotta pressure on T216 to come up w/the goods (zer tmrw, der Wed) -
if Yanks chase them, what will be louzer, I mean louder, Yanks fans cheers or Mets fans boos
by hook or by crook we gotta make a dent in the AL East, & pronto

Posted by: @stephenwattaway for ChiSox to snap that L10 - losing 9-5, they score 7 runs bottom of the 9th at an empty Comiskey after everyone had left
Det, same thing - looking right at an L10 losing 5-1 in the 8th inning last night
….they mounted a rally & snapped the skid winning in xtra innings, again w/few Comericans left at Tygiz’ Stadium
it looks equally bad for Sox right now - we’re a magnet for the .500 mark - no one else in our div is, but for the second straight year, we are - that’s bull - let’s go Sox
KC DFA’d JBJ - always thought Jackie had a Willie Mays type year in him - amazing fielder - a 180 the other way at the plate

Realize how unpopular it is to say,
but it just plain is too hard for me to believe that
a famous multimillionaire athlete
who could score literally w/any female he wanted to
would give it all the heave-ho
by holding a jagged steak knife to a woman’s throat, choking then raping her
but those are the accusations
Trevor Bauer would’ve known then & there that he was toast - mayb for good
which is darn well what he oughta be
if the accusations prove true
rape is the foulest most vile god-awful crime possible
he has denied it & countersued etc -
it’s turning into another DeShaun Watson case - don’t know if they ever found him innocent or guilty
—————————————-Bball
it figyid - awesome the love for the A’s in Oakland 2 nites ago (27G) - then qwikly back to the same ol last night & today (7G) -
their original team, the Phillies, visit this wknd - don’t know the exact lineage - they were the Philadelphia Athletics for years - Ty Cobb played his last 2 years w/them under owner/mngr Connie Mack
they’ll get big crowds, like for the Giants, Yankees/Sox, wknds etc
but still, the move is overdue imo - large ups, A’s fans - they’ve had a lot of good teams these last 50+ years in Oakland
Speaking of LV & ups - coach Cass & the Golden Knights, Cup winniz

there it is - it’s the oldest cliche in the book, it is what it is can’t hold a candle to it -
Cin is W5, Mil is L6 & just like that it’s a race in an NL Cen as moribund as the AL Cen & the WP here
so it Can be done
& in half the time
w/a wknd sweep at Fenway Pahk
Sox are under a microscope - this is as pivotal as last wknd in NY….
ie the long-term importance of attaining-then-surpassing .500 This Wknd, For Good…..
3 straight wins, 2nd straight wknd over them, & 1 large pivot up AL East for Sox
still some cellar time yet but pointed upward, & in a Large Friggin’ Way, key
we won’t lose for the next 2 weeks w/a sweep of Yankees at Fenway

Bryce Dallas Harper says he's bummed Oakland fans are losing their team and it will take a while for the A's to gain fans in his home town of Las Vegas. Which begs the question, what Oakland fans?
Maybe he forgot that his Nationals won a WS in a full stadium just a few years after leaving Montreal? Also, the Raiders appear to be doing just fine after their move.

Yes, and their hockey team too - it’s their 4th or 5th year there - they’re thriving, at the gate & on the sheet (obviously)
LV can support those 2 Oakland teams - Oakland can’t
wattan exile tho - 3 teams, outta town

It’s the worst of what MLB has become
a kid pitching out of his head in his MLB debut
lifted -
w/a no hitter going -
in his MLB debut
what’s worse, denying the kid a chance at history
or “inviting the risk of injury”
how can anyone be thinking about pitch counts or the possibility of injury, watching a kid pitch like that in his MLB debut, getting better as he went along
How god-awful of a risk is it to at least let him have a try at it - 3 more innings wouldn’t have killed him - they get rest periods between innings
what a joke - but that’s modern baseball
taking any odds the kid will claim injury this season
where will that leave their brilliant decision to take him out w/a no-hitter going in his MLB debut
but apparently he was working up a sweat, so their medical staff became worried
P U $ $ I E S - & brainless ones at that
oh just this footnote - they choked-&-lost the game - to rival SF - big Friday night at Dodger Stadium
no one seemed upset in the locker room afterward
they were happy for the rookie tho
…..it’s damn-near unbelievable
-
….our guy got nailed on a comebacker - get well soon bro
….NHL goalies gradually came around to wearing masks late 60s-early 70s
….I’d applaud a guy who decided to toe the rubber w/facial protection of some sort
there’s been a few this season, Nasty
finally, the poor cyclist who died - another thing brutal to see - on a hi speed downhill stretch -
another cyclist was possibly involved - horrendous crash over an embankment down a ravine into the water

Posted by: @stephenYes, and their hockey team too - it’s their 4th or 5th year there - they’re thriving, at the gate & on the sheet (obviously)
LV can support those 2 Oakland teams - Oakland can’t
Knights were an expansion team, they didn't move to Vegas.

🤙ya aware of that - they started 2017, Raidiz 1st season 2020, now A’s, who knows, 2025-6 or so depending on stadium construction etc…..
casinos/gambling joints on the Strip gottabe all over this - they’d get a lotta business from the postgame crowds

One sweep, west coast, NL
anutha, east coast, AL
both, the oldest rivalries in baseball
out west they’re making em forget the NY Baseball Giants (W7) w/their sweep of LA
had predicted a 2 week streak w/a sweep - MN is next
nice going boys, Judge or no Judge nothing is sweetah than a sweepah of Bronx Bombah
finally, happy birthday & as he rehabs, well wishes for a safe return to MLB, injured Jacob deGrom, 35 today -

Those 2 old geezers & 1st-ballot HOFers Might-Just-Mayb enjoy their next phone conversation after Mike’s game last night
Giants, in that can-do-no-wrong mode nowadays - Mike Yastrzemski the hero as SF scores 6 unanswered for their 8th-straight, & how much can Carl & Willie Mays love that
Reds, same thing - W9, they’re in 1st & Votto is returning - crazy - from Crosley to Candlestick, a present-day burndown in Cincy & SF -
heck the entire NL East is going (W17) - Pirates are L7 tho - many teams have gotten red hot then ice cold this season
we’re in MN this week, Chitown (Comiskey) this wknd - the Red Sox are fortunate NYY & Tor are currently a combined L7 -
let’s go Sawx, we gotta match these other hot streaks, howabout it boys⚾️

Jesus - from Redland To Riverfront & beyond, the great American ballpahk will be sizzling like Cincy chili & the weatha this wknd -
A Combined W19??? When could that have last happened (Reds are W11, Braves W8)
again it’s just farts, I mean fits & starts, for BOSox as we get ready for CHISox - the kid was tough today - it’s more “credit to him” than “we sahked” when it’s a CG 3 hitter
Redland Field & Fenway Pahk both opened to big love in April 1912
in 1933 both teams were sold
….to Mr Crosley, who renamed it/did renovations etc
….& in Boston, to Thos. A. Yawkey - same year - during renovations Fenway caught fire, setting back construction etc
then, after 58 years - 21 as Redland Field, 37 as Crosley Field - Reds relocated to brand-new cutting-edge (cookie-cutter) state of the art Riverfront Stadium in 1970
this in turn led to the 2003 opening to great acclaim of Great American Ballpark, one of the last of many terrific “.com” venues built specifically for baseball, from around 1990 on
only, in Cincinnati’s case, w/out a .com, corporately-sponsored name - that was a big breath of fresh air for fans -
what bball fan wouldn’t want to take in a game there, or many-such newer stadiums like it - no bad seats, modern but w/an old-fashioned take-me-out-to-the-ballgame atmosphere
….relocate the lumber Sox, these powah outages are killin’ us, dangit it’s 4 weeks at the bottom now w/no end in sight soon
thought NY sweep would propel us, didn’t (did have a W6 tho) - 3rd place in the AL East shouldn’t be that hahd to attain, let’s go boSAWX

Congrats to Domingo German on the perfect game last night! I watched the end of it and very exciting!

Sorry to interrupt your conversation with yourself Stephen.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

There it is - 4 straight for Bucs after a long losing streak - big comeback last nite - big game for McCutchen, Andrew is enjoying his return to Pittsburg
Forbes Field
opened 1909 - closed after 61 storied years & the move in 1970 to state of the art palatial 3 Rivers Stadium w/its “cookie cutter” design
Forbes Field opened 1909 - yep, then the ‘legendary’ (iconic?) 1909 WS, which in legend, Ty Cobb is supposed to have screamed “stay outta my way Krauthead or I’ll cut ya to ribbons” at legendary Pirates SS Honus Wagner
in legend, Babe Ruth was the only player to hit one onto the RF roof at Forbes - this definitely did happen
it was one of his final 3 career HRs - all in 1 game, & yep, none of his 714 went any further or he hit any squarer, the big guy maintained in later years
the aging slugger was closing out his career back in Boston then (Braves) in this 1935 game
Pops, Pirates all time great Willie Stargell, I Think put one up there in later years w/one of his mammoth blasts

There was that one in 1935 - Willie McCovey’s 1963 rocket off Warren Spahn at Candlestick Park (Willie later said “the ball landed in Oakland”)
& Reggie’s HR at the 1971 AS Game - completely outta Tygiz Stadium but for the light stanchion on the RF roof
yeah the great tape-measure HRs🥱 - ChiSox fans, wattabout Dave Nicholson - how about all of you in your chat rooms/FB groups (don’t all jump in at once🤫🤮)

Posted by: @stephen$216M is what it cost to put The Tandem, age 78, in a Mets uniform
guessing a few safe starts, say 36-44 tandem IP up to the pivotal July 4 wknd - then
IF UNINJURED……that’s when T216 will kick in full-bore for impatient NYCiti fans -
who will then be chanting “der & zer & now we’re der-zert” etc
OK the critical halfway point going into July 4 finds Max going, Justin no -
7-2, 3.87 ERA in 76 IP/zer
2-4, 4.11 ERA, 57 IP/der
its just statistical data, what some find easy to understand, others dont
the chant is now “der & zer & 4 days of thunder”
Mets fans have gone past impatient but the tandem is uninjured & I still think there’s a chance, advanced age & all, it’ll kick in full bore - they’re grizzled veterans, experience can count for a lot & go a long way

Posted by: @leeThe Padres and Mets need to start playing better, simple as that. Someone has to be able to justify all that $$$$ spent.
not happening, to put it mildly - the 2 highest-payroll teams, cowflop at the midway point
even T216M hasn’t helped, Amazins are 10 below .500 & facing a citi wide chorus of boos, angry catcalls & sarcastic snickers from disillusioned fans
same SD - full roster & all they’ve lost 9 of 11 & WAY back in NL West - Sox fans know that feeling in AL East

Posted by: @stephenConforto & Correa aren’t just below the Mendoza line, they’re off it altogether
…..after all that offseason BS, they’re 0-fer the season so far, basically
it’s every time - grotesquely bloated contracts - followed by flops on the field, every injury in the book & then some
lets go Sox
little has changed -
Michael slowly coming around, .236, 12 HR, 42 RBI - he got a sweetheart of a deal from SF - a career .255 hitter, $36M
Carlos, .217, 11 HR, 37 RBI - frequently injured, he nonetheless got a 6 year $200M contract with easy incentives to push it to $270M
for ups, both have played all but a few games - apparently Conforto will miss this wknd’s series against his old team
but still - this is l a m e - & not entirely unexpected

Posted by: @stephenDamaged Goods
usually ya get a refund
but Carlos Rodon, 6 years $162M
Jacob deGrom, 5 years $185M
Carlos has a bad back that he says is a chronic condition
Jacoby’s injury will sideline him longer than they thought - growing concern in TX
finally (just a mid season update), Carlos continues to convalesce, apparently he has a rehab start today, he may or may not return this month
like Chris, Jacob, 35, is history - Chris, 34, hopefully can return this season - they hope for Jacob’s return sometime next season -
both have had good careers, are in the twilight of them hastened by all the injuries, & will be shells of their former selves upon their return
…just coming off huge contract signings, w/1 hitch - they can’t fulfill the terms of them - signed up, & shut down - not uncommon in today’s MLB
cmon Sawx, we don’t love .500 this much

Posted by: @stephenwould guess some 200 IP in 2023 for T2 - (short reference, it’s the second pairing)
yep they had their career high water marks separately in their 1st pairing - Det fans remember it well -
Justin 24-5 in 2011, Max 21-3, 2013
most effective yeaz as a Tygiz tandem, 2011-12
der 24-5, zer 15-9 in 2011
der 17-8, zer 16-7 in 2012
….in 2023, act II not going as well but it said b4, If Uninjured At Pivotal July 4 Halfway Point Of Season - vintage full-bore tandem treatment still possible from these two old timers, 78 -
their two elders, Rich Hill, 43, & Adam Wainwright, 41, are at .500 - they might meet up yet this season

Posted by: @stephender 17-8, zer 16-7 in 2012
add in Miggy’s Triple Crown of 2012 & one can see why their fans would remember that season
? is, for good or bad
Tygiz made WS that year but were swept by SF
so was the whole season down the drain b/c of that
some would remember-first his Triple Crown, their pitching, winning the division & making the WS
others, “we choked on the big stage”
“you’re remembered by how you ended the season” …..
🥱

Posted by: @stephenwe’re in Chitown (Comiskey) this wknd - the Red Sox are fortunate NYY & Tor are currently a combined L7
now it’s Wrigley coming outta the break, & nothing has changed - TB & Balt are 2nd & 3rd overall, no one will catch them > the race is still w/NY & Tor

Posted by: @stephentheir full lineup is intact, now w/reborn C Gary Sanchez, & b4 you can say Benito Santiago, SD Padres are fast-approaching .500
Mets an equally slow start, gaudy lineup & all (these are 2 top-payroll teams) - T216/zer on the hill right now
we know a thing or two about slow season so far - but believe all 3 teams will contend
- we gotta be 8-10 games over .500 by the AS break
we didn’t get there - we Could get 8-10 over .500 but could stay 8-10 GB nonetheless
Its LA by way of Brklyn Dodgiz in the citi, where the heat will be on Justin - top-paid MLB player at $43M per, but only a 3-4 record w/a high ERA
my goodness they’ll give LA the ol Bronx cheer for starters
….& then turn the boos toward Mets if der is knocked outta the box
…SD, who knows - healthy roster & all, still no dice, amazing for a team w/Machado, Tatis Jr, Xander etc - heck even the ‘grovers, Joe & Tom, haven’t made a mound of dfrnc
fans recall some 10 years ago, when Padres, w/the lowest payroll in MLB, contended right up to last week of season

Posted by: @stephenTB & Balt are 2nd & 3rd overall, no one will catch them
Balt has pulled into a tie & watta series that’ll be this wknd
darn it! it’s the story of our season - we get warmed up, put a little run together, then thud -
this time, an L2 to lowly A’s - now it’s NYM - they’re no more welcome than NYY - yep a throwback outing for der last night - he figured to warm up -
it’s zer Sat afternoon, but no matter who we face, we need consistency boys, we gotta make our move Now⚾️

Posted by: @stephenhappy birthday & as he rehabs, well wishes for a safe return to MLB, injured Jacob deGrom, 35 today -
quote echoed-loud w/a verbatim X2, SUB IN
Stephen
113-62, 3.24 ERA, 1,700+ Ks
in this his 13th year, 1,470 IP - inactive last 3 yrs
we now know why he was always injured - often for stuff not related to baseball
not just 2019, but July 19, 2019 - they still talk about it down there - they were ystrdy - Stephen, 3 hits, incl a double, 5 RBI
….& w/his inner Frank Howard Dialed In - a 430 foot HR - a no doubter crushed to LF
his #s are really like no one else’s, & all fans have huge bday ups for Stephen - in hurling, he has few peers

Posted by: @bill_grahamI am not sold on the Orioles being for real yet.
they’ve proved out - they took 3 of 4 from TB, are tops in the AL at 61-38 & 2nd overall behind Atlanta
Sox look forward to Braves visit Tues & Wed, ya they’re Atl/were Milwaukee but they stahtd in Boston, the Babe ended his career w/them⚾️🤙✌️:sportsjunkie:
subway series week in NY, Chicago & SF - huge in Milwaukee w/Reds in etc….
Lets Go, Sawx

quick ?, had that Halos CF ever played that position b4
didn’t look like it - a routine fly ball that would’ve won the game for them - wattan adventure - he looked like a HS player
-
so what - big ? now, will they give it up for Miggy this wknd in Fla
they should givem the keys to the city for what he leftem to remember
literally from day 1 - yep a skinny rookie in his MLB debut, won it with a HR, the 1st to do that
that was mid 2003 - was on Fla’s WS team that fall
then 2004-07, Fla Mahlins (now Miami Marlins) - #s well-worth looking up -
no Fla hitter has ever equaled Miguel’s first 4 years there - in fact, his stats from 2004-16 are next to none, right there w/Big Papi & Barry Bonds
Cabrera, 40, deserves a lotta love where he had his famous start
make it a one-stop “wknd for a Marlins great, WS champion Miguel Cabrera, on his return to Fla, & his forthcoming retirement on behalf of the NL” so forth & so on

Posted by: @stephenUh oh - rumblings in Gotham
yep he’s back - ready to pass Judge-ment on opposing pitching as only Aaran-can, & beginning tonite, say the experts, NYY will be charging outta the cellah -
nothing has changed - now it’s part 2 - the experts were right the 1st time - probly will be this time -
part 2 may not begin tonite but that’s the rumor
.291, 19 HR, 40 RBI
& he only needed 49 games to do that
now he’s back for the dog days of August & the stretch run
& yep, opposing pitchers - esp in the AL East - are going, oh, s**t
lets go Sox, keepm in the cellah

they stahtd the season a tandem - 2nd time around as that too
part 2 however, wasn’t like paht 1
however, there is still a chance for an encore
For SEPT 4-6, fans will demand that all-staffs - pitching coach, bullpen coach, bench coach, strength & conditioning coach, trainer, medical staff
….then both managers -
juggle their rotations to give fans the matchup they wanna see
der vs zer
not der & zer
Justin Verlander VS Max Scherzer
at 78 years old, would be among the most elderly-ever of SP matchups - & obviously, would be far-&-away the Priciest Pair ever to start a game -
at $216M -
they can’t shea, I mean shy away from it, gaudy payroll & all, T$216M & all (while it lasted), nyM has slumped
however, Judge, C. Rodon, Nestor C. are back, Luis S could surprise people down the stretch, Stanton is finally starting to hit, & nyY can’t be counted out
so what, we have key div series this wknd - they’re all crucial now, ya let’s go Sox
