It'd be interesting if L.A. won the next two games. If I were a betting man I'd say it goes back to Boston with them up 3-2.

What happens if Boston & LA win and Kershaw starts against Price?

gonna be like a football score!!!

Lets see how this goes down; different odds of there being a football score than if the game was in Fenway for sure

Kershaw got lit up. Kind of anti-climactic sine the Sox have been the top of the league since before the All-Star break. Another banner year for Boston, congrats.

But price was great. I think he should have been the MVP. Kershaw just can't come up big when the pressure is on (at least not with any consistency)

glad we were playing them not Brewers PCBob -- Awesome -- beat by 15 the win total of the previous 2 years, setting a team record along the way
Mookie or JD, JD or Mookie -- there's no pick, make em co-MVPs
previously a journeyman, Steve Pearce becomes a monster when putting on red socks -- who coulda forseen that

…..when Mitch hit that 3 run jack Sat nite, you knew a monster dormant the previous many innings, was A-wakened & no EL-A pitcher, ClayK incl, would be safe

Eduardo R became the 1st to pitch on 0 days rest, since Firpo Marberry for 1924 Senators
teams went a combined 18 for 118 in the 18 inning game (read it somewhere)

…..yeah we have the highest payroll -- but none can say that the boys weren't tops in every phase -- depth, balance, speed, power, good bench, good pitching

in short, BOSTON RED SOX are tops in 2018, huge parade/town turned upside down Wed

Saw this thing that said this year's World Series had the worst ratings in a long time. Interesting given that there were two iconic franchises.

Seems the World Series parade got a little out of hand yesterday. One fan arrested for hitting Cora with a can of beer and the World Series trophy was slightly damaged by another can of beer. Some idiot fans in the world...

Wow, Dodgers give Kershaw $93mm for three years. Guess his less than stellar post season record (and that's putting it mildly) doesn't bother them.

His lifetime playoff E.R.A. is just a tad south of 5.

Christian Yelich & Mookie Betts win their respective MVPs. Can't argue with that. Though I was kind of surprised J.D. didn't finish with more votes. That guy is amazing.

Same here -- as great as those two players were this season, JD I thought should've been MVP -- 43 HR, 130 RBI, .330 BA -- #s not often put up --

Gosh, not since Yoan Moncada has someone come with such rave reviews
& he ain't even a playah

instead, he's "Prized Hitting Guru" Robert Van Scoyoc
...who, with his "cutting-edge hitting instruction" is set to impart his wisdom on the LA Dodgers in 2019

they'll gather around the messiah next spring, and the skies above their spring training facility will part as he "preaches the importance of launch angle...a more athletic stance....keeping swing paths through the strike zone as long as possible, and lifting the ball in the air..."

as the "hitting strategist" for the AZ D-backs in 2018, the great Mr. VS "provided individualized, data-centric strategies on how to attack opposing pitchers."

this wildly enthusiastic espn article also said LA has hired a "game-planning coach"

It's such horseshit -- all this nerdy new-age hi-tech jargon/lingo/baloney will count for zero up against a high hard one or a nasty slider on the black

coming next to MLB dugouts, software for computer coaches to stream live-time data into the computer, to aid in upcoming at bats

I still like the competition between the lines, & of course, Ya Sawx, watta year

this other shit? hitting strategists AND hitting coaches, not to mention assistants for both?? Game-planning coaches to go along w/fielding coaches, bench coaches And the manager???

Messers. Doubleday & Cartwright would be doubled over, also doing cartwheels in their graves at what's become of the game they invented -- it's been overmanaged, over-administrated, over-financed beyond recognition, on the field and off

So Harold Baines gets in The Hall. Great guy, very good player. So are they wanting us to believe as a point of comparison he was better than Dale Murphy, Lou Whitaker and Mattingly who are not in? Same era. They were way better than Baines.

I haven't thought about Baines in this context. Lee you are absolutely correct these guys were better than Harold.

I guess this is basically what was once the old timers committee. There are 12 people that vote on it and you have to get 9, so 75%, just like the regular vote. That's how Trammell & Jack Morris got it.

What did everyone think of The HOF results? Rivera, Halladay, Edgar Martinez & Mussina. I was fine with that. I kind of wish McGriff would get in but he isn't even close unfortunately.

No qualms about any of those really.

Jim Kaat is another one you never hear a whisper about. Something like 283 career wins and double digit gold glove awards. That he could have the length of career that he did is a real accomplishment too.

Kaat is a fellow Meeechigander. Zeeland. Small town. Should he be in? You could certainly make an argument. Given the way the game is played now, I doubt anyone will win 283 games again.

I kind of relate him to Bert Blyleven who got in. Only guy from Holland in.

My thoughts on some of these guys is that they probably won't get in. I don't know how much some of the voters these days know regarding baseball and its history. Saying that, I don't see a lot of guys that could get in as the older writers retire so the younger guys probably won't even know who some of these players are(were).

There are several players I think should be in that aren't. And some that are in that I don't think should be. All subjective. someone's opinion.

Robinson was probably a tad underrated for the time. Given his contemporaries I kind of get it. And he didn't exactly endear himself to a lot of people in the baseball world.

I have had this discussion many times over the years with baseball diehards like myself about who was the best. From the guys you mentioned (and from that era) I definitely say Mays. I can't believe the Giants didn't rule the baseball world in the 60s. FOUR Hall of Famers on that team: Mays, McCovery, Cepeda, Marichal.

I find it fun to discuss who was "the best". So subjective. Even at a particular position. My all time favorite player is George Brett. When I was a kid my friend's favorite was Mike Schmidt. We would debate about that a lot. I guess picking one over the other would be a tossup.

Kind of like deciding Machado or Harper.

Same here, always loved those sports bull sessions
Mickey M should probably be included too -- my gosh if not for the injuries, his career numbers.....
same Ted Williams too, re missing 3 years -- who was greater, Ted or the Yankee Clipper
.....to present-day, fun discussions re Altuve/Betts

but thought the same thing when Frank was with Reds & those mid-60s teams w/Pete Rose, Vada Pinson, Jim Maloney, John Tsourias (? sp) Bobby Knopp, Deron Johnson & others didn't win more often
