Today's "Fresh Air" episode: How the rich benefited tremendously under the "Cares Act."
On today's "Fresh Air" episode, experts reveal how Congress included legislation giving the wealthy and ownership class additional tax cuts and incentives to hoard even more wealth...While the middle and lower class got crumbs...Er, I mean, $1200 dollars!

What I did find on your link was this article about the lack of oversight on which small businesses received money .. https://www.wrvo.org/post/loopholes-small-business-relief-program-allowed-thriving-companies-cash
The other day the Los Angeles Lakers returned the money they received. Why would they give $4.6 million to a $4 billion company with 200 employees? ... https://time.com/5828235/los-angeles-lakers-stimulus-paycheck-protection-program-coronavirus/
The more you learn about the CARES Act the more it stinks. I can't believe there isn't more outrage from taxpayers as they are getting fleeced.

I'm glad you could find it....The link I posted I think was only available while it was streaming.
As far as tax payer outrage goes, it's the same old story of the general public being distracted daily by all sorts of other news content.
Trump's second biggest advantage to the Republicans is that he constantly diverts attention from the crap they do behind the scenes to enrich the ownership class even further. He get's off on the attention and they screw the middle class even more....And he, his crime family, and other cronies get huge tax advantages for their speculative real estate businesses.
Far more attention needs to be given to this money grab by the ultra rich and to their army of lobbyists who are still, as we speak, asking for more handouts from McConnell. I do wonder how long the ownership class thinks the house of cards that is becoming the American economy can last as they chip away more and more at the foundation.
Income inequality is as big a threat to the nation as any foreign adversary. Destroy the middle class and there goes the nation. It's really that simple. The Care Act exacerbates income inequality even further. Eventually we will no longer be able to service the massive closing in on $30 TRILLION national debt and once that happens, chaos reigns. I dare say the ultra rich will not be immune to the destruction and collapse that will ensue if the world stops loaning the US money and we default on the debt we already have.
I'll try to find some time to follow these links.
To think that legislation that passed so fast and so unanimously is so messed up...why does that not surprise me?
These people rarely get it right when there is typical procedure with committee and debate and normal voting...so they rush it all and pressure everyone to vote affirmative and then tell us how much better this all is and have faith and then what...we expected it to work? It's not the first time I've been fooled, I'm sure it won't be the last. Can we actually do anything right anymore?
One thing mentioned in the interview by the guest was that some of the tax provisions that made it into the Care Act have essentially been pushed by lobbyists and the connected people in Washington for a few years now.
So, as usual, when a crisis takes hold use it to your advantage. Some of these provisions meant to shelter the ultra rich and hedge funds and CEO's and real estate speculators, etc. had been stalled previous for a number of reasons. Nothing like a pandemic to enrich the 1% even more....
All of the lost tax revenue we'll simply put on the credit card...No big deal, as the rich don't pay the taxes that service the debt anyway. A win-win for the ownership class once again.
There are two Congressmen pushing a bill to repeal this money giveaway .. https://www.forbes.com/sites/shaharziv/2020/04/27/proposal-unveiled-to-repeal-the-17-million-stimulus-check-loophole-for-rich-americans/#180f215038e8
"Sadly, the cost of these provisions was only calculated after Congress had voted to pass the CARES Act. Now, Representative Lloyd Doggett and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse, the two Congressmen who requested the JCT analysis, have unveiled a bill that would repeal the tax giveaway to million-dollar-plus earners. As the congressmen noted in a press release, “Together, the Republican provisions are among the costliest parts of the CARES Act, despite having no real connection to battling coronavirus or its economic fallout.”

Great that they're making an attempt at repeal, but I suspect such an effort is dead on arrival in the Senate....Unless people can turn up the pressure on the people who will determine such things. Those people of course being Mitch McConnell and Donald Trump.
In the meantime, this effort at repeal should be spoken of by every Democratic or Independent or even Republican running for office in the coming months. Every time they get a microphone in their face or have an opportunity to address this give away they should go on record as supporting its repeal. In other words, they need to be held accountable.
Lobbyists going to lobby.
Jesse Drucker should run for Senate since he's better at knowing what is in legislation and these overlooked tax provisions. Either our representatives don't 'care' that much or they aren't intelligent enough to know provisions of the bills they vote for. How much do our members in Congress actually control and write in these bills compared to the lobbyists?
Haste makes waste.
In the end, how much of these financial rescue packages are going to work as intended?

That's the big question I suppose. Given many people and small businesses have yet to even get a stimulus check, or additional unemployment benefits, or a small business loan, it's hard to determine how these rescue packages will make any difference whatsoever if the money is so late in coming.
