The Michigan Patriots

Protesters, some armed, spill into Michigan Capitol building demanding end to stay-at-home order

Last line of the article,
"No summonses were issued however two people were arrested for allegedly getting into a fight between themselves, according to Olesky."
Are we surprised?

What perplexes me the most are the ones bringing guns to these demonstrations especially assault type rifles designed for one thing only and that is body count. We sure have a lot of screwed up people in our country. Sometimes I wonder if we're past the point of no return considering the current president.

The need to tote your gun along to such an event is not only dangerous but I think speaks more to the way these protests are being encouraged by those who seem hell bent on stirring up all sorts of issues beyond the Covid 19 lock down.
There's a strategy at work by the forces pushing these protests all across the internet and on social media. Intermingling the lock down with gun rights and other issues (like abortion) gets a few more people engaged than if it was solely about the lock down.
Here in upstate, New York a few people at these relatively small events were holding up signs about banning the Safe Act. Incorporating wedge issues when you want to try and get a bigger crowd never seems to hurt turnout.

Bubba sez ain't but one thang gonna keep that dadgum virus out, and they is God, guts and guns! 😉

At one time I was following along with some things in Michigan, I'm not really sure what their detail is now.
People are growing tired of this. I'm seeing and feeling it too.
Proof we can only stay united so long, maybe it was a miracle we were able to do it for as long as we did in some ways.

Like I originally posted, maybe we're past the point of no return.

You know, it really pisses me off the the word patriot has been corrupted to mean wacko. You wonder if the true meaning is ruined forever.

You are correct. And I used that in the thread title as sarcasm; not to corrupt.
Seeing these wackos in the halls with guns is something that should scare everyone - right or left leaning. If they think this is the way change occurs or results are achieved, I doubt they will achieve their goals. I'm curious if anyone here believes what they did is proper or heroic? Nothing good can come with the optic of guns. What are they going to do - shoot a pandemic or shoot legislators if they don't get their way?

They were more likely geared up for a blaze of glory scenario to prove their point. No way they are dumb enough to believe for a second their weapons could serve any purpose other than get themselves blown to bits.
It was meant to intimidate anyone they could. You know, stand up to tyranny...or something.

I think it's more like military cosplay. They take advantage of any opportunity to take their toys out. Most trained professionals are more responsible than to walk into a public building and yell at police officers while armed. Meanwhile, they probably boycotted the NFL (briefly) over kneel-gate.

The story said its legal to carry a firearm in public as long as its not concealed. So if they are obeying the law it shoundn't be considered "constitutional cosplay," if they are exercising their rights. I didn't see any gun waving in police faces that is flat out stupid.

Come on Goob.....Of course it's legal to carry a firearm in public in some states. That doesn't accuse someone from being responsible with it. If anything owning a firearm comes with an even more inherent responsibility to use it wisely. I own guns and that's what I was taught. From my Crossman to my Marlin...
I support completely these peoples right to protest....Totally! But there's no need to bring a firearm. Peaceful protest is best I say..

Sean Hannity said tonight for the protesters to "leave their guns at home". Thought it might be an opportunity for some to agree with Hannity for the first time ever.
Hopefully those guns don't have rounds chambered. If they have rounds in the magazines that is one thing. If they didn't actually chamber a round there would be no accidental discharge, there could be 15 bullets in the magazine, but if they didn't take the step to chamber a round the rifle is essentially unloaded and could never accidentally discharge. Even when I conceal carry my semi-auto handguns I do not chamber a round, it does delay action if I would ever have to use it (I rarely carry anyway), but I want the extra layer of safety by leaving all the rounds in the magazine rather than one ready and waiting to go.
