After the networks did not carry the President's live address to the country, this time, they are being pro-active having live streaming themselves. 9 pm y'all

http://www.WhiteHouse.gov/SOTU

He's being pro-active and in his gentlemanly, but firm way, he wants to get his messages out. He won't be sidetracked, shut out or shut up by news networks who are beholden to special interests. In one video I remember him saying "I'm not done yet", which pretty much tells you he is determined to continue with the initiatives he started when he took office. It would be nice if Congress actually worked together, but if they don't, the people will see them bickering like children. He will not stoop to their level.

It should be interesting, tune in y'all.

Exactly.
Obama is always willing to work with The Congress as long as they do what he wants.

Hopefully the speech will be more a comedy instead of the usual tragedy.

Been a political junkie my entire adult life. Don't care who the POTUS is and what party he comes from. The SOTU is about the single most painful thing a human can endure, up there with tooth extraction sans numbing and bathing the cat.

I'm sure the major focus of the speech will be on the national debt doubling from $9 to $18 Trillion in six years on his watch and the need for fiscal restraint. Secondary point will be underlining the need to address the radical Islamist situation. Those are sure to be at the top of the list.

Maybe (like the France demonstration) he'll decide that it doesn't need his personal attention?

I know it doesn't need my attention. I can't stand the clapping or faux outrage. I think it is the most disgusting display in all of American politics.

An ambassador from Saudi Arabia marched in that procession. Talk about ironic comedy gold.

So much is appearance; if you are golfing and you get bad news (previous issue I can't remember which) you stop even though in reality it changes nothing. Current administration is not good at grasping that point. Maybe James Taylor can bring his guitar tonight and sing "Handy Man"

Haha! That's great! I'm glad you are focused on the world affairs that matter the most.

Which President golfed the most?

Has any President golfed more than Boehner?

Do you really think Obama's golf game has gotten in the way of his job? I mean... really?

Well, he did say that he has to watch the paint peel off his wall. That would explain much of the intellectual stimulation...not to mention the added effect of inhaling paint fumes.

My point was about perception; Obama has admitted to not being very good at that issue re: playing the politics of perception in a crisis. I said it is meaningless to his performance; poor for his image.

I used to have a manager who, like a broken record, said, "perception is reality."

She got fired.

As a progressive I'm incensed that Obama isn't doing more with the power that he has to fulfill his campaign promises to the middle and lower classes.

But then I wonder about the whole perception argument when Congress is generally hated and perceived as a bunch of layabouts living off the taxpayers' dime yet are re-elected time and time again.

I think the entire State of the Union drama is meaningless to the vast majority of America.

You mean like continuing to read a children story in a classroom while hijacked planes are flying into buildings?

i am going to watch. I would like to see

1) Obama acknowledge a republican controlled house and senate

2) What he intends to course correct on Obamacare and Keystone

3) Any big ideas on improving infrastructure or restarting the space program for example.

4) Any action plans for improving the economy and the job situation

Instead, I think this speech will be all about class warfare, income inequality, minimum wage, illegal amnesty, and free college tuition.

1. Why? Is that really necessary?

2. He won't change his stance on either item. And he shouldn't.

3. The GOP led Congress has no intention of passing any bills for that.

4. The economy has greatly improved and unemployment is at its lowest since he took office, much to the chagrin of the Republican Party.

I've been reading that, because of the falling price of oil, the Keystone Pipeline is a non-starter. The cost of a barrel of oil has to be over $70 for the construction to make sense.

Of course Americans won't make any money off the pipeline no matter how much oil costs.

Do you expect Oil to stay under $70/bbl indefinitely?
