Shooting at Fort Lauderdale Airport
The first thing they said was that it was a terrorism incident. Then they took that back and said he had military id, so it was not being investigated as a terrorism case. Isn't it something, if the shooter is a military man and goes off on civilians, that is not considered terror?
Well it is certainly terrifying. I heard of this as it happened from a friend in Ft. Lauderdale who's flight was cancelled.

A military spokeswoman told the Associated Press Santiago received a general discharge from the Alaska army national guard last year, for unsatisfactory performance. He joined the guard in November 2014, she said, having served in the army reserves.
A spokesman for the Puerto Rico national guard, Major Paul Dahlen, said Santiago was deployed to Iraq in 2010 and spent a year there with the 130th Engineer Battalion, the 1013th engineer company out of Aguadilla.
Shortly before 5pm, the sheriff’s office warned that a planned controlled explosion would take place near the airport, although it was unknown if the package related to the shooting.
Remarks: Reporters on the scene said that he was shooting people in their heads and killing them that way. That's sniper style. To be able to do head shots on moving targets and kill them requires considerable skill, more than just a National Guardsman would have. He was a "combat engineer".
Carol Rosenberg does a real good job on terrorism reporting for the Miami Herald. Check what they will have as the news unfolds.

So many questions...so tragic.
Just like alot of these type of events at random places, we can all imagine ourselves in the airport waiting for luggage, just standing there.

"sniper style" to me is more like somebody a long range away, out of sight taking out targets. If you walk up to a person and point a gun at their head, or at other people standing immediately nearby that doesn't mean they all had to be moving targets. I have not read all accounts, but I would be hesitant to either give the shooter some kind of credit for having training beyond what his military service would've provided or implying he took on some special training or practice to undertake an event like today.

They may not have been all moving, but as soon as the first one or two were shot, anyone in the vicinity had to realize it was not just one person he was going to shoot, and at that point I would think they would have run. How many shots did he have in his magazine, did he reload etc. But the question remains, why did he choose head shots, if you want to kill a lot of people just aim for the stomach, they will bleed to death even if you don't hit a vital organ. There's a lot of unanswered questions and they may suppress it. I read something that said the govt. was forcing him to watch Isis videos and wanted him to brainwash him. Now that itself sounds crazy, however, we do know the govt. does do psy ops on people.
Additional info; he was in Iraq from April 2010 until Feb 2011, ended his military service in August. Became a Father in September, a month ago, started having problems. Nov. 7, complained to the FBI he was under mind control from the intelligence community. [since the intel people do covert ops work, how can the FBI investigate that? They can't, so since they know almost nothing about what the intel people do, they just dismiss his complaint and think he is crazy, which he could have been, but what if he was being controlled and brainwashed? It is a possibility. It's one thing for him to just say that he heard voices and they told him to do something, but said the govt. was controlling him. ] I have read accounts of what actually went on in some segments of Al Qaida where the young men were brainwashed, given drugs before suicide missions in Pakistan. These things DO happen. They use policies and procedures developed and implemented by our govt. Al Qaida did not develop the techniques and tactics on their own, they adopted them from the US govt. Think not, look into MK Ultra and psyops programs, get an education. ]
Does our military use techniques and tactics on soldiers to get them to be able to kill and not feel bad about it? Wouldn't they have to? How else could they get results in war? Just telling recruits these are bad guys so you should want to kill them only goes so far, most people have consciences and know that what you are asking them to do is wrong (at some point they realize that).

It is an act of terrorism; even if the underlying cause is mental illness
The most recent terror attack in Ohio I think it was Wolf Blitzer who said "We are not sure it is terrorism; but the person obviously wants to be identified as a terrorist."
What idiocy. These are all terror attacks. Some are "Radical Islamic." This is not a grammar class
It is an act of terrorism; even if the underlying cause is mental illness
Except terrorism is classified as violence in the pursuit of political aims. This guy was mentally disturbed, and one of our own, he had no cause (as far as we know). Calling it "terrorism" just because people were terrified serves no purpose. If you ignore the cause, you ignore the problem.
It may be hair splitting but not quite sure if one's political agenda is the results of hearing voices mandating it that there is still a political agenda. Not 100% sure.
I'm not ready to equate PTSD with terrorism.
I actually think he's psychotic; just saying its the act I judge by not the underlying cause. I think in order to mass kill you need some sort of psych pathology. Be it narcissism; lack of empathy; etc.
Isn't the bigger issue that he walked into an FBI office with a gun and child in his car, told them the gov't is controlling his mind to watch ISIS videos, and we gave his gun back to him and said "now carry on young lad".
That is really f**d up. From what I gather you lose the gun if someone else thiks you are crazy; but if you think you are crazy you keep it.
I am not saying that he was mind controlled, my feeling on this case is that he had something wrong, but I rule out nothing knowing the possibilities of some of the evil doers.
