Senate border security and foreign funding bill

This is the best border proposal I can remember that has been negotiated by members of both parties dating back to the W Bush years. The fact that there are those on the edges of the left and right that oppose it also tells me there has been compromise and strikes a good balance.
Will be interesting to see how the votes go in the Senate, but I hope it passes.
The Republican leadership in the House shows everything that is wrong with how Washington works. Members there misrepresenting aspects of this bill to justify their opposition to it. Taking ques from Trump and uniting against it instead of allowing themselves and their members to have their own view - debate it, vote on it, have it pass or have it fail, but don't simply block it out of fear of handing the other "side" and the sitting President a "win". This is bipartisan in nature. Who wins? A nagging, worsening and immense problem gets some solutions. That is a win for the country, not a party or person.
Mike Johnson likes to say that President Biden could do all these things already. Whether he can or can't - Mr Johnson should do what he can do to address it. Why rely on the President to do something, and if in Mr Johnson's view if the Presdient won't do something then he is only showing that he himself will also not do anything by not be open to the Senate compromise.
I do agree that the Biden Administration has made the problems worse at the border, never acknowledged the 'crisis' it has always been when they took over - so then what should anyone in a position to enact change do? When given the chance they should try to improve and fix it and that is what members of the Senate are trying to do. Say what you want about the foreign spending and aid that is present in the bill, or not in the bill (UNRWA) - I think on balance this is a very strong and necessary piece of legislation and I hope it passes the Senate and if the House leadership refuses to consider it I hope they pay dearly for it.
We really deserve and need better out of our elected representatives and the process overall is beyond frustrating.
Those responsible for getting it to this point should be commended:

And the House likes to say "we already passes a border bill", they did HR 2 Secure Border Act of 2023 - which I'm sure I would've also found agreement with. However it passed on a pure party line vote, not a single Democrat voted for it. Big problems really require broader support to have legitimacy

You know, events like this and the whole crock of sh:t that comes out of Washington just makes me think, screw it - why care anyway about any of it. Live your life, love your family and then you die and what will be will be. So much easier to just stop caring about stupid congress doing stupid things

At whose direction are the Republicans acting?

Most politicians are spineless and weak and like to frame themselves as wiser than their opponents all for what they think will be personal gain while pretending to have principles.
