Was not sure where to post this, so since there are sports on the WP.....

The first round in this is considered to be one of the greatest rounds in boxing. These guys are punishing each other. I miss these days of boxing.

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

I have a Tommy Hearns shirt from when I was a kid.  Still have it.  My Dad like Hearns, so I liked him too.  It's a great era of boxing to reminisce about.

Amazing bout, & Hagler's destruction of Alan Minter when he won the title was just as devastating of a 3-round destruction - then bottles and other debris rained down on the ring from the angry English crowd

Thomas Hearns was part of another sensational 3 rounder too, altho the wrong side of it - won the first two rounds against Iran Barkey, then Hearns caught a leverage-loaded right hand and was knocked cold

I don't like boxing. In fact I think it is kind of barbaric, two guys pounding the crap out of each other but I guess it has been an Olympic sport forever.

But when I was a kid growing up outside of Detroit it was in the era of this fight. Those two, Sugar Ray Leonard and of course, Roberto "No Mas" Duran. This was before the pay per view thing so the matches were on TV and everyone rooted for Hearns of course. It was actually fun.

I remember going to a Detroit Pistons game at The Pontiac Silverdome in the 80s and Hearns was there watching the game. People were trying to approach him and get his autograph. He had this whole "posse" of security around him. He was nice and signed things for people but the guards were really careful.

When I went home I remember thinking that he was a boxer so why does he need security guards? He could beat up anyone, right? Like I said, I was a kid. 😀

I highly recommend the Showtime documentary "The Kings".  boxing fans of this era will not be disappointed.  Marvelous Marvin Hagler is one of my all time favorite athletes.

The Kings sounds good.  I'll add it to the list.
