“all in the name of their own political agenda”
- That is your assumption derived from your political agenda.

Not true at all. It is derived from their own public statements.

They are standing up for their Constitution Rights, against government abuse of the citizens and an activist court.

So are you saying that the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals is an activist court, and not the judge who ignored the mandatory minimum sentence in the first place?

Please, please, please go join them Muleman. Please... go stand up against government abuse of the citizens and an activist court. I'll buy your plane ticket.

Anyone standing up for these terrorists is a traitor to these United States.

Exactly what constitutional rights were violated? I don't see anywhere in the constitution where you have the right to shoot animals in a wildlife refuge, nor do I see anything in the constitution that allows you to commit arson?

Was just out in that area last week! At Crane Hot Springs, awesome! Malheur Wildlife Refuge, beautiful place, not a huge federal bite out of local ranchland, and absolutely essential Northwest regional oasis for a zillion species. Haha, I know that place well, there isn't anything at that little main office anyway. They should just furlough the few folks that work out there and wait out these guys. They will get bored and move on, there is absolutely nothing out there! That whole part of Oregon is as bleak as the moon. Lol.

i sort of agree BrerRabbit. on the other hand, will you feel safe going back out there if these guys stay for 3 months, 6 months, a year and start building their own buildings out there? i don't think any or many of them are even residents of the county or the state.

They won't stay long. Most of these guys have families to support. The "protest" in Nevada ended when those guys started losing their jobs and started getting eviction notices for not paying their rent or mortgage.

The feds should cut cut off all traffic into the area and eventually they will run out of food. Either that or they should use the opportunity to start rounding up the cattle on his Nevada property to pay their back the the money they owe the government while he and his goons are playing idiot up in Oregon.

I can hear the circus theme song right now. This has none of the gravity and political merit of something like the American Indian Movement at Wounded Knee, this is a joke. Send in the clowns, there ought to be clowns.

Honestly, giving these guys any press is just giving them power. The Malheur Field Office is literally nothing! they ought to just set up some trailers for a temporary office and let these asswipes keep the original office for their habitat, protect these jokers as the endangered species they are: Americanus Idiotus

wasn't much on the "news" channels tonight about it. i expect that will change as the week goes on, things will look weirder when those called in to join them by the "Boy" Bundy get there. remember they ended up getting those cop killers from indiana who, granted they kicked out, joined them last time. "Boy" Bundy , i don't know, but he may be biting off more than he can chew.

So you are ok with a judge issuing a sentence , having a person serve their time, and then having the feds step in and say " We think you need to go back to jail" and get resentenced? This is infinitely more terrifying than taking over a tourist information center and threatening a bunch of brochures and maps.

recommended sentences for a federal arson crime is 5 years minimum. yes something is fishy. were the original sentences fishy or ordering them back to prison, I don't know. as I said before, if something is wrong with it a good lawyer should be able to get it to time served.

tongue planted firmly in cheek, are you saying it is ok for people to take over federal property if no one is being injured?

No I don't agree with the tactics used here by this splinter group from the peaceful protest that went on earlier. Clearly there have been escalating tensions over BLM and FWS trampling of property and constitutional rights. The occupiers should consider that their point was made and
stand-down and pack up. Consider this a tactical media win. I will be surprised if they stay past today.

Didn't they put out a request on twitter for people to bring them snacks. I could pack better than these clowns. I'm not sure if the gov't should just storm the building or just wait them out. When this is over these people better get more than a slap on the wrist.

What property and constitutional rights have been trampled Goober? The land belongs to the people of the United States. Why should these ranchers get the land or grazing rights for free?

This is a total crock!

Ranchers think they can just claim land as far as their cattle can roam. Most of Malheur is wetland that is unsuitable for grazing. The buffer lands around Malheur are not extensive, and the reason they are the last decent sagebrush grazing left is because they haven't been trashed by overgrazing.

The way sagebrush works is the native perennial grasses can survive fire and drought, but once those grasses are grazed off, then non-native annual grasses take over. This is ok for a while, but the non-native grass is not resistant to drought and fire, so once that gets grazed, no grass. Dead range. The perennial native grasses are slow to take root, and can't compete with the fast-growing non-native grasses.

The BLM prescribed fires are managed to encourage perennial native grasses. Fire is mostly a good thing out there. All this woof about fires destroying the land is crap. The reason fire kills range is because the perennial grass has been grazed off, and the non-native grasses can't survive the natural changes out there.

Am sick of these guys who think they own the whole world because they run a few cattle! And then have the gall to snivel after they trash rangelands, then want to move in on a small area that has been managed well. Not only that, but a vast amount of the rangeland they trashed was public land that they paid minimal fees to trample! So don't try to tell me the US is doing the "trampling". I used to work for the Forest Service in an area where welfare ranchers ran cattle and in conversation they always referred to huge tracts of public land as "Their Land". "Our land goes from that mountain range over there to all the way to that one you see over there," some cowboy wearing a XXXXXXXX beaver hat worth more than his entire herd, indicating half of Arizona with a kingly sweep of the arm. Phony poser *ssholes!

If that buffer land around Malheur was just given to cattle ranchers it would be dead range within ten years. This is just stupid. It just isn't that much land anyway. I am sure most ranchers in Harney County know this. They manage their land "asbestos" they can, but once the native grass is gone it ain't fireproof ; )

It's frozen winter out there, I just drove through and saw lots of happy cattle lined up along the highway peacefully standing in the snow eating hay that was brought to them by truck.

Malheur has not crippled the Harney County economy at all, it is a great resource for them. If it wasn't for the BLM and US Forest Service and National Park Service there would condos on the edge of the Grand Canyon, the entire Western rangelands would be a dustbowl, and anyone who wanted to could buy, develop, and ruin our public lands.

These Bundy clowns are a bunch of d*cks.

I wonder if Trump will propose banning old white men from entering the United States.

That's his key voter demographic.

Nice photo op but you haven't seen them lately, have you?

Look at any rump crowd.

Old and white.

Damn, talk about being on the public dole. And that doesn't even include the free lodging they are getting while squatting in Oregon. I'm starting to think the drone strike idea isn't so bad after all (j/k).

Ammon Bundy Compares Oregon Standoff to Rosa Parks and Everyone Is Livid

On Wednesday, Ammon Bundy, posted a tweet about the ongoing anti-government standoff led by a group of armed ranchers in Oregon, and Bundy's statement is drawing fire from all who read it:

"We are doing the same thing as Rosa Parks did," Bundy wrote. "We are standing up against bad laws which dehumanize us and destroy our freedom."

One of the things that happens is that folks get inside their bubbles and get convinced that there's thousands, if not millions of people out there that agree with them. One of the first things said to the media when this started was "We invite all patriots to come and join us."

Which is, literally, "Come join us out in the middle of absolutely nowhere and let's have an armed standoff with Obama's Government!"

I think they expected more folks to show up by now. 😛
