Watched her on MTP today. In the last month she's shown not only is she skilled in her medical specialty but has mastered the art of political speak, parsing words very carefully, and dancing around the issues. I get it - She's seen how easily Trump tosses skilled advisors aside if they speak truth to power or don't bow in loyalty. But come on - she's one of few people in the position to protect the American people in times like this. I'm concerned that she's somewhat sold out & trying to protect her job as opposed to speaking up when that ass clown makes crazy talk and lies to the public.
On the other hand Dr. Fauci is more up front. I'd like to have all the medical advisors speak out much more because our lives are on the line, and this is no time for Trump to speak to his hunches and make statements that contradict those who spent their careers dealing with issues like this. Who are you going to put your faith and belief in at a time like this - an uninformed zealot & con man or specialists?

Maybe now you can take a moment and clarify your earlier attempt at explaining just what a luxury activity involves? And since you have so thoughtfully moved to the appropriate thread, here are my questions again:
"And just who makes that distinction as to what is essential? Are hardware stores essential? How about restaurant take out? Realtors? How about off road vehicle rentals? Staples? Is the line in the sand fluid?..Maybe it varies from community to community? How about "Stay at home"?...Can you go for a walk?...a drive? a bike ride? A motorcycle ride?....Who & what determines what is play"?
I understand if you choose not to address this, individual thought that does not pertain "playground" like behavior can be challenging.
Jesus, you really need it explained? If you can live without it, it ain't essential, therefore it is a luxury to us working class folks (wink wink). I thought you would understand that, Mr. Walking Tall John Wayne. Who decides what is essential? In this case, the states do as you are usually quick to point out. She chose to violate the state order and told the officer to arrest her so he did. It really isn't all that complicated. If you wanna waste your time petitioning the Gov. Of Idaho be my guest.

Some people fall into a trap when talking about or asked about this President. Instead of trying to explain, rationalize or sweep under the rug whatever thing he said; just state your own position. Do not try to defend him. State your own position on the issue and leave it at that. Let the President speak for himself and you speak for yourself. That is the best way.
Fauci is more up front, although on occasion, he too has tried to explain the President "he's trying to be aspirational" for instance.
Birx and Fauci are not political appointees, she doesn't play for the red team, but it's hard with this President. My biggest disappointment with Birx so far was her role in the google test site plan that never happened (at least not the way they said it would). I do not think she would purposefully mislead, she herself may've been mislead. Maybe we'll find out some day in a book what it was like and she no longer has to bite her tongue.
Some of us from afar say things like "speak truth to power", "stand up to him", say "Mr President you are wrong". If somebody wants to maintain a role of influence in both crafting policy direction and guidance to the general public, one has to walk a fine line. Stay in your lane, do your job, use your expertise to help the rest of us understand how your mind is analyzing and planning this.
If Fauci and Birx or anyone else really said what they felt about Trump neither would be around to maintain some control over the task force. I would bet if by some chance Trump gets reelected Birx and Fauci might retire rather than work for this President again. But as for now, we are still in the height of this health crisis and these are health experts. We need them to be a counterweight to the President...even if they don't always say what we would like publicly.

I read that she was the one who worked behind the scenes just before Trump spoke to the press & got him to denounce GA gov's plan to re-open. Both he & Pence had called the gov the night before to congratulate him. He's said to like her because she has graphics that make the point quickly.
Fauci needs a break & seems to be taking one. He can't do his job AND correct Trump. He does pretty much state what is fact at the time w/o regard to what POTUS is or isn't saying.
Presumably, the tiny pool of advisers he still listens to are urging him to get off the stage & quit doing pressers - that's why the quick dash for the door on Friday. They always end badly for him. Just let Pence introduce the experts & let them speak. He's apparently even more obsessed w/the bad look he's getting even from Fox. He just can't make the connection that if he didn't say stupid things, he wouldn't get flak for sounding stupid.
Then again, someone told me today he never said anything about injecting bleach. She hadn't seen the footage, but she knew he wouldn't say that. She also said the spike in reported calls to poison control centers throughout the country were hoaxes.

If she got herself fired would the person replacing her be more or less likely to speak up ? Hope she stays. I think if Agent Orange fired Fauci the markets would swoon.
