I'd like to say this surprises me but it doesn't.

TV revenues, March Madness, bowl games with deep-pocket sponsors, massive amounts of gambling, alumni donations that hinge on winning, agents, recruiting, apparel deals, sports drink and supplements deals, fantasy leagues, naming rights, no pay for the athletes getting ground up…college sports is about as corrupt as it gets. Oceans of cash sloshing around. I say pay the players, guarantee a full-boat graduation injury or not, lifetime health insurance. It's impossible to believe that all this cash could not be spent ethically on the ones doing the actual work.

I agree.....I would add that we're now seeing the profiteering of youth sports becoming a billion dollar industry as well. Shouldn't the young men and women and their families be assured a bigger payout given the insane investment many of these families are making in their futures?

What I find most sickening is Pitino may still get his remaining $45 million dollar salary despite the corruption he obviously engaged in. That amount of money dwarfs any other salary at the university. It's beyond absurd in my opinion.

And it's been going on nearly forever. If you get a chance, read Jerry Tarkanian's excellent book, "Runnin' Rebel". John Wooden cheated for Christ's sake, according to Tarkanian, and I don't see that Jerry would have any reason to make it up. Wooden had a booster named Sam Gilbert who regularly gave money to UCLA players. But Wooden was never investigated. To the NCAA...........that would have been like investigating God himself. Bill Walton corroborated all this and asked why the NCAA has never come to him or any other former UCLA players and started asking questions. "We were taken care of", Walton said.

You'll find out what happened to Tarkanian's agent when he tried to pry Jerry loose from UNLV to coach the Lakers. He was stuffed into the trunk of his Mercedes with a hole in his head.

I agree with most of what you said except for lifetime health insurance. Really? Lifetime insurance for playing a college sport? Not many people in life get that.
