We are in the middle of Speed Week and the big race is Sunday.
Any predictions, other than "There's gonna be one hell of a wreck.", hopes and worries?

Go fast, turn left and don’t hit the wall.
Have a cold beer.

As every fan knows, this race in particular is hard to predict.

The usual suspects will be up front for most of the race.

I predict Brian Vickers will run well and up front all day or most of it, but succumb to some downfall, much like the Shootout race. I like him as a driver and he has quite a story to come back, I wish him well, although it sounds like this deal with Tony's car will be short lived for Brian.

Chase Elliot will also run well, but I do not see him there at the end, although he is sort of a wild card here. I want to say this race usually does not favor "new guys," they seem to always suffer some issue, but Chase is a talented kid on a well established team, so that new guy thing may not bite him.

People that will probably finish well, Kenseth, Hamlin, Junior, Brad K, Logano, Kurt Busch and yes, I hate to admit, J Johnson.

If I had to predict someone to win, I will say Kenseth.

I've always thought that Daytona, since the restrictor plate rules, actually favors rookies who run the race cautiously.
I've noticed over the past few years that some of the bigger names actually drop back to almost the rear of the lead pack, sometimes with a little space between, to keep away from the almost solid group of cars running inches apart.
Most times the "big one" happens because of a tire rub causing a flat.

I don't have any predictions.

I am very curious to see how the Fords outside of the Penske Ford's do early this year. The Rousch cars were so terrible last year, might be because all their talent went elsewhere, but Biffle sucked most of the year too. Almirola had some moments for Petty, but really the Roush and Petty teams just don't compete for wins outside of a bluemoon these days. So I am wanting to see what kind of improvements those teams may have made. Daytona will be hard to gauge that unless they all run pretty well.

And the 88, always want to watch him on the plate tracks.

I think Ryan Blaney should run very well.

I'll be cheering for the Fords probably (not the guys from Penske who always win).

They need to get back to what their name says "National Association for Stock Car Automobile Racing".
Put the stock back into stock car racing. Using the old rules you would see front wheel drive 4 and 6 cylinder cars
running around the track.
Of course some of the new 6 bangers put out an amazing amount of horse power and torque.

Well, I predicted Kenseth and at the white flag, I was right, ha.

Second half of the race wasn't real interesting, but the final lap was pretty good!

If more races ended like that, I might tune in to watch the final 3 or 4 laps more often! 😛 Cool
