I would support any Trump initiative to regulate 24-hour cable news networks by enforcing journalistic ethics. They should not be allowed to brand themselves as news, or they must be required to report facts only without a left or right spin, like everyone else in journalism.

Shep Smith of FOX News comes to CNN's defense after Donald Trump refused to take a question from a CNN correspondent at his bizarre press conference yesterday. It seemed Trump got CNN and Buzz Feed confused or just took the opportunity to retaliate for whatever happened to bruise is ego.
If you don't like CNN, fine, but the President attempting to silence or disregard a legitimate news agency on his first day isn't a little frightening. FOX and CNN may have opposing world views, but all journalists know their jobs depend on the same freedoms. Trump seems to think he has to answer to no one, this won't be the last story he doesn't like, but the Office of the President has to answer the people he serves. He can respond with facts that disprove a story, and it will likely go away (well, unless it's a mindless "birther" accusation). But attacking the source (via Twitter, no less), be it CNN, Meryl Streep, or whomever, is beneath the President and a slippery slope.
Fox News anchor Shep Smith on Wednesday defended CNN after President-elect Donald Trump belittled one of the network's journalists at a press conference over a controversial report.
"President-elect Trump today told CNN's Jim Acosta that his organization amounts to fake news," Smith said.
Smith referred to CNN's Tuesday report that top intelligence officials presented Trump with information that Russian operatives claimed they possessed compromising information about him. The information presented to Trump, CNN reported, was based on a 35-page dossier which BuzzFeed later published in full on its website.
"CNN's exclusive reporting on the Russian matter was separate and distinctly different from the document dump executed by an online news property," the Fox News journalist said.
"Though we at FOX News cannot confirm CNN's report," Smith continued, "it is our observation that its correspondents followed journalistic standards and that neither they nor any other journalists should be subjected to belittling and delegitimizing by the president-elect of the United States."

The thin skinned President Elect will go after anyone and everyone who questions or challenges him. No doubt he will never be seen as statesman; moreso the antithesis of what we consider a statesman. You can't possibly seriously believe this. I know he's ya boy right now, but every President gets criticized and takes their lumps. But Trump doesn't lash out at the content, he lashed out at people personally. It's not that what Meryl Streep said was wrong or he disagreed with her, it's that she's an overrated actress. This is some petty stuff. And he's the President, not some annoying relative in your feed, people should be paying attention to what he says.
