At first I thought you were seeking asylum in Australia Hemp to escape the US!

I read the article.

I do not know what to do with all these people. There millions, if not billions, of people in the world that would seek better lives for themselves if they could. There is poverty and health crisis, crime and persecution. All I know is that the US can not accept anyone and everyone that wants to come here. It is not our responsibility to see to it that everyone on earth who seeks a better life is given one.

I am not against legal immigration. While I do think it could be tweaked more in the national interest rather than for reasons of diversity or humanity alone, expanding our legal immigration numbers would be fine with me. The review system for those trying to come here legally and illegally badly needs expedited so everyone can be processed and either allowed in or sent back.

Long term detention for illegal aliens is a bad thing. However, so is letting all that want into this country without following the lawful method of gaining entry.

Remove the incentives many illegals come for (employment). Make it harder to come illegally (physical and technological barriers). And expedite the process so the potential for long term detention doesn't exist.

LOL i feel your confusion Nebish. Belize and ? accept refugees. in general i think ....lol...ok....there are some translators from the Iraq war that have been left for dead....afgan too. uhmmm.....there are countries that should be fled because of violence? where do they go? what about the syrian refugees? i mean, theoretically these are people looking for a better life, not becoming criminals.

it's above my pay grade to decide.

There's a labor shortage in the Central Valley these days.

Machines or robots?

Those facing shortages at their farms, where increased wages can't attract the workers, if the farmer wants to keep their output rather than downsize due to lack of labor, they can increasingly look towards machinery to do the work. Otherwise, if we are talking about immigrant labor, it must be legal immigrant labor and there will be a tipping point of how much you have to pay for human labor vs what it takes to purchase machinery. Just make those machines in the USA of course.
