At least 126, mostly children, slaughtered as Taliban storm Pakistan school

Does it get any more heinous than this? Hard to fathom....
At least 126, mostly children, slaughtered as Taliban storm Pakistan school
Islamabad, Pakistan (CNN) -- The Taliban stormed a military-run school in northwest Pakistan on Tuesday, gunning down at least 126 people -- most of them children -- in one of the volatile Asian nation's deadliest attacks.
Hours after the attack, Pakistani troops were still exchanging gunfire with the militants inside the Army Public School and Degree College in the violence-plagued city of Peshawar, about 120 kilometers (75 miles) from the country's capital, Islamabad.
Two explosions were also heard.
By around 4 p.m. (6 a.m. ET), the Pakistani military had pushed the attackers back to four blocks of the school, military spokesman Gen. Asim BajwaI tweeted. BajwaI over an hour later said that six assailants had been killed.
It was unclear, by then, how many of the hundreds of students at the co-ed school -- which is for children of army personnel and has a capacity of 1,000 -- were still inside, not to mention how many more were dead or alive. More than 100 people were injured, ministers in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province said.
"2 more children, 2 teachers rescued," BajwaI wrote around 5:15 a.m. "6th terrorist killed in last block. IEDs planted by terrorists hamper speed of clearance."
Reports on the scale of the bloodshed spiked dramatically, from a handful to upwards of 100, in a few short hours earlier Thursday. Where the death toll would end up is still uncertain, though it's sure to be horrific.
Most of those killed were between the ages of 12 and 16, according to Pervez Khattak, chief minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, where Peshawar is located.
Scaling the walls
In a telephone call to CNN, the Pakistan Taliban -- Tehreek e Taliban Pakistan, or TTP -- said six suicide bombers scaled the walls of the school with orders to kill older students about 10 a.m.
The Taliban said "300 to 400 people are under the custody of the suicide bombers."
The military had earlier said most students and teachers had been evacuated.
Violent past
Pakistan has seen plenty of violence, much of it involving militants based in provinces such as South Waziristan, North Waziristan and the Khyber Agency -- all restive regions in northwest Pakistan, along its border with Afghanistan.
It is the home base the TTP, an organization that has sought to force its conservative version of Islam in Pakistan. They have battled Pakistani troops and, on a number of occasions, attacked civilians as well.
Schoolchildren have been among their targets. The most notable among them was Malala Yousafzai, who was singled out by Taliban militants October 9, 2012, and shot while riding from home. The teenage girl survived and, last week, became the youngest ever recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize for her efforts to promote education and girls rights in Pakistan and beyond.
And Peshawar, an ancient city of more than 3 million people tucked right up against the Khyber Pass, has often found itself in the center of it all. Militants have repeatedly targeted Peshawar in response to Pakistani military offensives, like a 2009 truck bombing of a popular marketplace frequented by women and children that killed more than 100 people.
Yousafzai said Tuesday she was "heartbroken by this (latest) senseless and cold blooded act of terror in Peshawar."
"Innocent children in their school have no place in horror such as this," the 16-year-old said.
Deadliest attack since 2007
Still, even by Pakistan and the Taliban's gruesome standards, Tuesday's attack may be the most abominable yet.
This is the deadliest incident inside Pakistan since October 2007, when about 139 Pakistanis died and more than 250 others were wounded in an attack near a procession for exiled former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto, according to the University of Maryland's Global Terrorism Database.
As recently as last spring, the Pakistan Taliban -- a group closely affiliated with the Taliban in Afghanistan and whose members swear allegiance to the Afghan group's leader, Mullah Omar -- and the Pakistani government were involved in peace talks. The government released 19 Taliban noncombatants in a goodwill gesture.
But talks broke down under a wave of attacks by the Taliban and mounting political pressure to bring the violence under control.
Taliban: Revenge for killing of tribesmen
In September 2013, choir members and children attending Sunday school were among 81 people killed in a suicide bombing at the Protestant All Saints Church of Pakistan. A splinter group of the Pakistan Taliban claimed responsibility for the church attack, blaming the U.S. program of drone strikes in tribal areas of the country.
And for the past few months, the Pakistani military has been conducting a ground offensive aimed at clearing out militants. The campaign has displaced tens of thousands of people.
The military offensive in the region has spurred deadly retaliations.
Mohammed Khurrassani, a TTP spokesman, told CNN that the latest attack was revenge for the killing of hundreds of innocent tribesmen during repeated army operations in provinces including South Waziristan, North Waziristan and the Khyber Agency.

Violence against children is one of the most despicable crimes I can think of
That being said these people have nothing to lose as they live off the land with the cloths on their back as their only possessions so life is cheap to them which is why we will never defeat them.
Does anyone really believe that if we put troops on the ground again over there to beat back ISIS that that will be the end of it? Once we leave they or some other extremist groups will rise from the ashes to take their place. We will never be able to eliminate these terror groups no matter how much money we spend or troops we send over there. All we would be doing is buying a little time until the next group takes their place.

And all that is said is why Israel continues to do what it has to do - to survive in the middle of this mess of Terrorism

These people are murderous religious fanatics. They are brainwashed maniacs. The only way to begin to counter it is to kill as many as possible and to defeat and scatter their leadership. There is no way to reason with this kind of evil. And it is exactly this kind of fanatical evil that Israel is faced with and Israel is constantly attacked for the minimal things it does to protect its people from constant death and destruction.

Children are the last form of innocence and purity on this earth and this is despicable.

I have read that most of the kids were between 12-16,hard to fathom what goes through the minds of people to design these attacks.
That being said it also raises the question of when is it going to happen again here?

These people are murderous religious fanatics. They are brainwashed maniacs. The only way to begin to counter it is to kill as many as possible and to defeat and scatter their leadership. There is no way to reason with this kind of evil. That is the problem Doug, if history has taught us anything you will never eliminate these terror groups. Unless you commit genocide there will always be individuals ready to replace those killed.

The Afghanistan Taliban have condemned an attack by the Pakistani Taliban on a school killed 141 people on Tuesday, Reuters reported. “The intentional killing of innocent people, children and women are against the basics of Islam and this criteria has to be considered by every Islamic party and government,” Zabihullah Mujahid said in a statement.
Remarks: Each group has their own beliefs about islam and jihad. No one should just classify all the groups as one in condemnation. I looked into what is actually going on.

1:07 PM Tehrik i Taliban say it is a revenge attack for the offensive going on in North Waziristan (by the Pakistani Military)
12:28pm - TTP says militants ordered to shoot
TTP spokesman Muhammad Khorasani tells AFP there are six attackers. “They include target killers and suicide attackers. They have been ordered to shoot the older students but not the children,” he said. A loud explosion has been reported at the scene. The blast has been carried out by security forces to bring down a wall to create an entry point into the school, according to officials.
The school is run by the Army, whose graduates end up in the Army and try to shoot the Taliban.
As to the offensive going on in North Waziristan, it is quite bad. The army wants to kill all of the Pakistani Taliban and affiliated groups and vows the operation will not let up.
http://dailymailnews.com/2014/12/16/no-let-up-in-zarb-e-azb-till-eliminating-terror-pm/
It began last summer, called Operation Zarv e Azab.
Darb e Azb implemented June 14, 2014
A military official in the main North Waziristan town of Miranshah told AFP that the coordinated operation -- involving airforce, artillery, tanks and thousands of ground troops -- has already started.
http://www.thenewstribe.com/2014/09/03/operation-zarb-e-azb-910-terrorists-killed-in-north-waziristan/
At least 910 militants have been killed in the ongoing operation Zarb-e-Azb in North Waziristan, Pakistan, ISPR said on Wednesday.
REMARKS: Now, the situation is, the state Army where the Taliban and others live, is coming after them vowing to kill them all, not let up, no matter how long it takes, what can their response be? They are fighting back, avenging the deaths of their people including children by killing army students before they can graduate and join the fight against them. THIS IS WHY IT IS HAPPENING.
To say that killing children is wrong, most agree with this. Should they just target adult soldiers?
The old argument Osama had where he supported the views of Syed Qutb that the world was a battlefield, that people in the cities voted for leaders who approved money and weapons and sent soldiers to fight and kill them made it permissible to kill civilians. The Pakistani Taliban do not do pre-emptive attacks. They attack back when they have been attacked. They have been being attacked by their own governmental army forces since June with this current military campaign. All they can do is fight back and avenge some of the deaths that their people have suffered. They cannot sit by and do nothing and continue to be slaughtered.
The Quran says that when people are under an oppressed ruler, they have to endure it because it is only with the will of Allah that the ruler was put in place over them. THey have tolerated rulers who were not on their side, but when a military campaign is waged vowing to kill all of them, they cannot just endure without fighting back, because it is on the basis of their religion that they are being targeted. The govt. believes their religion is extreme, so they want to kill them, to ensure their own security and longevity. That makes it a holy war, that makes their jihad permissible according to Islam. They are being fought on the basis of their religion. The Quran says there will be 73 false sects of Islam. So who is right? If the govt. thinks they are right, they should be willing to sit down with scholars and debate the issues. They are not. Why not?
Prior to Operation Darb e Azb no TTP were trying to take over the govt. All they wanted was to live in their own lands. The govt. decided at the urging of the US that they would have to be eliminated. When you tell a group of people whatever their race, creed, belief that you are going to destroy them, they can only respond with violence to disrupt what you are trying to wage on them.
I feel badly for the children, but I also think there will be more to come, killed by both sides.
"Thousands of troops will participate in this action. You can roughly say 25,000 to 30,000 troops will be involved in the operation," the official added on condition of anonymity because he was not authorised to speak to media.
"We are trying to finish this operation as soon as possible but can´t give an exact time frame. It can conclude in a few days but can also take longer," he added.

I agree. Where is the outrage from the Muslim leaders? They remain mute while these killings go on. There is no justification for executing children. Eradication of this element is now the only answer. They are beyond rehabilitation and redemption in this life.

Most leaders do not support the killing of children because the have not grown old enough to choose their path and make their own decisions. The Afghan Talibs stated it is un-Islamic, they do not even recruit children suicide bombers or allow the children to fight on the battlefield. Jamaat i-Islami said killing children is un-Islamic, but those who sent the attackers told their forces not to kill children. Apparently the children were killed in the crossfire

I know all of you think the Taliban have no rights, they only have the right to be shot at, bombed and killed by the military. WHY? You don't like their religion. Just like the Crusades and other big battles, one group against another because of their religious beliefs.

100% agree. There is no excuse, defense, reason, justification, rationalization or anything else that can begin to explain this massacre. It is reprehensible on every level. Period the end.
Gina, you could not be more wrong and misguided. No one cares what the Taliban believe. We only care what they do. And what they do deserves nothing but condemnation.

What about drones who mass murder children in their houses and villages, while they are sleeping not even knowing who they are and if they are the children of a suspected militant? The Pakistani Army killed over 1,000 people in Waziristan since last June, what about those children? Are they just in the way collateral damage?

Ed, we will all die someday, we are born, we live and then we die. I do not use drugs, I do not need to escape reality. How come you cannot see all the other children being murdered in Waziristan from drones, bombs? They are not ALL Taliban children. How come their lives mean nothing, why are they expendable, because of where they live?
Can you answer any of those things?

The Pakistani Military conducted 20 airstrikes
LANDI KOTAL: At least 22 suspected militants were killed in air strikes on their positions in Tirah valley of Khyber Agency on Tuesday 12.16.14 The attacks were carried out in Garhi, Dars, Dwa Thoe and Thor Darra.
The goal of the Pakistani Military is to kill Mullah Fazlullah, per Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Maj-Gen Asim Bajwa.
The actual attack was conceived on a previous Chechen rebels attack on a school where they were able to take hostages and facilitate the release of some of their members.
• Plan was hatched for release of at least 1000 death sentenced TTP operatives in exchange of students
• Laif Mehsud and his aide’s release was also in the hostage exchange agenda
• The Daily Mail’s investigations indicate that The Beslan school hostage crisis (also referred to as the Beslan school siege or Beslan massacre) started the first of September 2004, lasted three days and involved the capture of over 1,100 people as hostages (including 777 children), ending with the death of 385 people. The crisis began when a group of armed Islamic terrorists, mostly Ingush and Chechen, occupied School Number One (SNO) in the town of Beslan, North Ossetia (an autonomous republic in the North Caucasus region of the Russian Federation) on 1 September 2004. The hostage-takers were the Riyadus-Salikhin Battalion, sent by the Chechen terrorist warlord. On the third day of the standoff, Russian security forces entered the building after several explosions, using other heavy weapons At least 385 hostages were killed as a result of the crisis, including 186 children, with a significant number of people injured and reported missing.

Chief Of Army Staff General Raheel Sharif and the head of its main intelligence agency flew to Afghanistan on Wednesday seeking help for the situation in Pakistan. “The time has arrived for Afghanistan and Pakistan to act together against terrorism and extremism with honesty and effectiveness,” Afghan President Ashraf Ghani said in a statement. Pakistan said it had shared intelligence with Ghani. General Raheel Sharif and the head of its Inter-Services Intelligence agency, Rizwan Akhtar, met Ghani, the president’s office said after the surprise trip.
General Sharif held separate meetings with President Ashraf Ghani and General John F Campbell, ISAF commander.
REMARKS: The attack plan was modeled after a Chechen attack plan. TTP did not plan all of this, Al Qaidah was involved. Ashraf Ghani the new President of Afghanistan, is politically with the old Northern Alliance commanders and fighters. The ones so hated by Al Qaidah, that Osama ordered the execution of it's commander. Ahmed Shah Massoud. 9.9.2001
If Afghanistan participates with Pakistan in the mass murder of Taliban fighters in Pakistan, both countries may be destabilized. The Pakistani Taliban have said if the Pakistan military goes to war with them, they will come to the cities and do attacks there. The US will not be able to leave Afghanistan at the end of 2015.

Wait. hold on. Dont nuke mecca. Yet. Wait until Gina is on Hajj. Then obliterate the hive. Right when they are all gathered round Stoning the Devil, feeding their collective evil and feeding off their amplified evil through their false idol. Huh? False idol? Arent all idols false?

As mentioned why no outrage from anybody? while it's worse that it's children, but there is no excuse for this mentality
Remember Gaza and the bus stop bombings in Israel? The Palestinians were so beaten down, they had nothing to even fight back with, so they would get on a bus and blow themselves up, hoping that as they sacrificed their own lives, that their one life would take out many Israeli lifes, and if that happened on a big enough scale, it would make a difference and change the leadership of Israel and the oppression in their country. Eventually Hamas stopped the bombings. There was no world outrage for the conditions the Muslims lived under. Nobody cared. The situation in Pakistan is nobody cares about them or anyone in any country, if it does not directly effect them and their lives people do not care.
The situation in Pakistan is severe, civil war is coming, and Pakistan ia a nuclear armed country. Which means the US would have to get involved and be seen as the world bully, bombing people in rural villages.
The way to peace is each country manages their own problems without help, war planes, drones, bombs, troops from other countries. Regimes will come and will fall, it is the ebb and flow of the world. Let them determine their own destiny. Until we went to Afghanistan in 2001, there was no big war going on in Pakistan between the Taliban and the govt. The Taliban stayed in their tribal areas, living their lives.
The Afghans refused to allow Osama to use Afghanistan as his base to launch any world attacks, so we did not need to go there and disrupt that country, they would have handled that internally. There is so much wrong with the official story of 9.11.01.

Osama thought he would unite all the Muslims against the US when he was accused of the attacks on 9.11.01. It didn't work and millions were killed in Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan. We cannot bring democracy to Muslim countries who already have their own versions of democracy and secular law. We need to leave those lands and let them handle their own countries.

Wait. hold on. Dont nuke mecca. Yet. Wait until Gina is on Hajj. Then obliterate the hive. Right when they are all gathered round Stoning the Devil, feeding their collective evil and feeding off their amplified evil through their false idol. Huh? False idol? Arent all idols false?
Huh? What false idol? The Kabaa was built by Abraham with his son Ishmael. It is true during early Islam the Quraish had false idols in it, but Muhammad, the final prophet of Islam, had the idols removed. The war between him and the Quraish lasted a long time. The rituals that are performed to day are regarded as rites. All religions have them. There are prophecies that the Kabaa will be destroyed when Jesus returns and the grand jihad is ON with him fighting the anti-Christ. God is sick of religions, he just wants people to live and walk in his ways, all those drunken Catholic priests will have to give up their golden chalices sippin' wine all day on Sundays, and the Jewish rabbis will have to stop thinking that only Jews are entitled to the Holy Land, the land belongs to all of the tribes which migrated all over the globe.
All that is going on now is leading up to the Judgement Day. You don't escape it if you die, you get resurrected and brought back to deal with it. So all the people killed with drones, etc. they will be back, if God thinks they should remain on earth, they will help repopulate it. He has the final say, He runs the world. We are just custodians of it FOR NOW.
