The complete quote from his campaign:

"You're going to have such great health care at a tiny fraction of the cost. And it's going to be so easy."

http://www.cnn.com/2017/07/24/politics/senate-trump-health-care-vote/index.html

While I didn't agree with President Obama's healthcare plan, I'm still waiting for the President's "... be so easy."part to either replace or improve.

Hopefully we'll get it right in 2020. Can the Democrats and the Republicans show courage and support candidates that show leadership, responsibility, and compassion or will they succumb to their respective extremists... and their pocket books... Actually will our nation's citizens show courage and say to hell with them all...

"With malice toward none and charity for all." President Lincoln

I think we are all waiting, but people have pointed out to reduce the cost, services have to be reduced. They cannot provide all the services to all the people and reduce the costs. So what gets cut and to whom? People somewhere along the line are going to suffer. We have a lot of people who need health care and cannot afford to pay anything for it, what happens to them? State Block grants; well there will not be enough money in those to pay for all the services poor people need. It's not just poor people, old people need a lot of care also, as you get older, things wear out, it's expensive to fix old worn out parts. In NY use of the ambulatory surgery suite for a day surgery costs between $20,000-30,000, that's just for the room they keep you in while they prep you for surgery, and where you wake up and recover, then there's the surgeon's fees, anesthesiologists.
So, the population of New York in the year 2017 as per estimated data = 19.91 Million.

Affordable healthcare for almost 20 million people in NY?

What about other populated states, Florida Population: 20.61 million (2016).

And everywhere else in the US.

What is easy is saying things like that. Trump is a sloganier (not sure that is actually a word).

He has ideas, but nothing close to a plan and never had any plans. He has a host of things he wants or would like to see, but can't begin to explain or propose how those things would get done.

Cost.

Everyone has to pay something. The more 3rd party payers cover the costs the more patients/customers/people will use the services that somebody else is paying for. Then higher demand causes cost for services to rise.

The mentality of "I can't afford to get sick" and people living their life with that in mind could have more to do with lowering overall costs than anything. Accidents and unexpected illnesses will always happen to some and not others, it is the luck of the draw. But for those of us who make healthy vs unhealthy diet choices, exercise choices, personal conduct choices we can have an impact over our personal medical cost exposure and by extension the cost that any 3rd party payers would be responsible for.

To say he has ideas is giving him far too much credit. He says things in the moment that sound good to him even though he has no intention or plan to implement it. He plays the room he is in for his own vanity, go so far as to get impressionable children to cheer for him. Nothing will ever get done when the only purpose is ego and to spite the other side.
