Trump has been awful from the start, and any one of many statements he made would have made any self-respecting public servant disqualify a vote, support, or endorsement for Trump. None of the Johnny-Come-Lately GOP types dumping him "now" impress me in the least. If they had real integrity they would have stepped up to the plate months ago.

It was just a few days ago that Kelly Ayotte waffled awkwardly but essentially endorsed Trump as a role model for children, ostensibly out of political expediency. Now, all of a sudden, he's a liability instead of an opportunity.

True, I think they're acting out of self-preservation no matter how late. The full NYT article charts who jumped ship after what comment. Still, the tapes do have him specifically admitting sexual assault. That was more than anyone other than Bob Dole could stomach.

Worse, I think his response to Howard Stern when asked how young was too young of "twelve" is even more repulsive.

I watched her response to the question several days ago. She looked really uncomfortable even answering the question. I think she qualified her answer the next day????

She is one of the main characters that should have separated herself from Trump in the early days when she could have saved some of her credibility. She's in a tight race. Hope she gets sent home by the voters. Maybe then she'll have time to reflect upon her decision not to dump Trump earlier on.

I'm not sure I know what the GOP is anymore. I used to think of them as fiscally conservative, socially conservative, family values party. They seemed to have morphed into the big spending, racist, tax cuts for the rich, grab them by the pussy party. The religious right are still on board for some reason, although it appears the days of pandering to the religious right are now over.

Wrong. Supporting Trump could help their opponents beat them in THIS election which is about as much "damage" as can be done to them. If repudiating Trump helps them get elected now, then that's one more term than they otherwise would have had no matter what happens later.

Maybe and maybe not. You do know that turnout has a lot to do with particular elections. On balance presidential elections draw larger turnouts.

The angry Trump jilted voters would need to carry their resentment forward and know that there is a House or Senate election on the calendar.
