Who Are These Folks With Brother Gregg?

Maybe a promo for the Brad Gillis album he appeared on?

The picture says The Allman Brothers Band. Must of had subs for everyone but Gregg on that tour.
That is definitely Brad playing the red Stratocaster with black pickguard but is that Gregg jumping around and takes his shirt off. Butch said Atlantic records wanted Gregg to get out from behind the organ, stick a salami down his pants and jump around like Mick Jagger so I guess that is what this second video is.

Hey JSZFUNK. Do you think Brad here is as good at the wild playing as EVH?
Gregg did sing two songs on Brad's solo album Gilrock Ranch. Was surprised Gregg is in a band photo for that project. Did Gregg do any live shows?
The only time I saw Brad Gillis was in Night Ranger. Brad played a red Stratocaster probably the one here and another guitarist play a Goldtop Les Paul. So much loud shredding from those two it left a big roar in my head that lasted for 4 days and it wasn't music that was in my head. It was more like a loud jet engine wound up for takeoff.

Here is the Night Ranger lineup I saw. The guy on the Goldtop Les Paul does some of Eddie's double tapping and Brad Gillis is playing that same red Stratocaster with black pickguard and he is all over the neck and is wearing out his whammy bar.
They played in my area just a week before Allman Betts Band last fall at an outdoor social distancing music park but I didn't go. Was afraid that jet engine would be in my head for 4 days again.
Clearly Gregg Allman would have fit in beautifully with this band and if the Goldtop Les Paul player left, Dickey could have stepped in and did this easily.

I believe that is the Alameda All Stars who Gregg was playing with when he lived in Marin County. Mark McGee was the guitar player he usually played with and filled it out with the Alameda All Stars were Preston Thrall, Tommy Thompson and Mark Burgstahler and Tom Miller. @robertdee Oh no that's not Gregg. As far as I know Gregg never performed like that, and it's hard to believe he would, given what kind of guy he was. He seemed like a shy dude so I don't think he'd be into hopping around like that. I actually don't know who that is, but at first I thought it was Ozzy Osborne.
Freelance artist by daylight, music lover also by daylight.

I can't comment on that video other than to say it's a million miles away from anything in the styles of what I've heard Gregg play. But I do remember the Alameda All Stars were the foundation of one of Gregg's touring bands for a period. I saw a show or two with that version, and jimmy Hall was also in Gregg's band at that time.

@martind28 I wasn't commenting on the video, but on the pic linked in the first post above.

I got that. I was just commenting on the vids in general.
BTW - Are the Alameda Allstars still playing as a band?

Got it. Based on the website it looks like they are still active.

Brad Gillis is not in the photo

I was just joking around. Gregg and Dickey wouldn't or couldn't be in a heavy rock band. But Gregg IS on Brad Gillis' solo album from 1992 I think it was.
Brad Gillis is loud and fast and on the whammy bar often.

I always thought Night Ranger was akin to Toto - great players rolling over and playing for airwaves and big bucks. Gotta make a livin'.

Was informed Brad Gillis has played with the Almadea Allstars on a few occasions. Maybe that is how Gregg Allman was asked to sing and play organ on Brad Gillis' solo album.
When I saw Night Ranger after the last song Brad tossed his pick to the audience then the 4 or 5 picks tapped to his mic stand then unscrewed his whammy bar and removed two strings and tossed them so I tried to get closer with my arms up thinking he was going to toss that red Stratocaster with a black pickguard to the audience too but he didn't. Saw them on TV a few years later and Brad still had the guitar.

Here is Brad Gillis showing a lick he stole from Dickey Betts and how to play like a loud and aggressive guitar bomb.
