There's been some discussion about the Brothers at the Peach Festival 2015. I think Greg's comment at the end of the show was, "Come again next year". He didn't indicate that they would be there but that we should be there. Thoughts?

I was about 20 rows back and heard it very clear. I'm 99% certain he said, "we'll see you next year". That could mean each member would be there with their own bands, or it could mean together as the ABB. Only Gregg knows.

heard the same thing.
I suspect if Gregg will be there it won't be with the ABB, but that's another thread

This is what was posted on the band's Facebook page last week:

"Here's the link to the Wanee Festival site for 2015: http://www.waneefestival.com/ And to be clear, the ABB is not performing at Wanee 2015 - but the festival is happening. Save the dates, April 16, 17 and 18 2015!"

You guys are giving Gregg way too much credit for thinking. It was probably just something he blurted out, as he's been known to do, and he said something he's said a million times before, with no real thought or significance to it.

What he actually said was "We are working on a new album, be out next year."

😛

Chastain Park Ampitheater, Atlanta, GA 2008 2nd night of the Brother's two night run- after the Whipping Post encore Gregg clearly said "...see you next year." In 2009 the Brother's didn't play an Atlanta date...unbelievable! Thanks Gregg.

I think he meant see you next leap year, because they did not play Atlanta again until 2012. 😛

There are certain things he seems to say from the stage which are canned lines. How many times have you heard him say "Ya'll are a good bunch" or "Can everybody hear OK?"

My guess is he's kind of on autopilot with the stage speak.

ah...more speculation on the ABB future. 😉 😉 😉 Thats a novel discussion to have. 😉

I actually backmasked what Gregg said.
"Dickey is joining the band, with Lawler on Keytar and David Goldflies on bass . ALL HAIL BEELZEBUB !"

Yeah, my guess is Gregg will be back and hopefully Gov't Mule and TTB. Will they play in each other's set - I hope so but I wouldn't count on it. I think once 2014 is over some of the bad blood may show itself. Derek's been wanting to leave for years and Warren may just be too nice to speak his real thoughts although his latest interview shows some of his feelings.

I completely agree with you there. You can almost just feel it.

Then again, Marc plays with Gregg now, Jaimoe just sat-in with the TTB at the Beacon and Oteil & Butch have done their music camp the past couple summers. Gregg was asked to be a part of the Warren Christmas Jam just this past December. That doesn't look/sound like guys who have a lot of bad blood toward each other.

If there is any, I suspect Derek may be annoyed with Butch for opening his mouth a the Jam Cruise last December about Derek leaving the ABB after 2014 forcing him to put out a press release (Butch's comments don't make sense if the band had planned to wind down within the year) and Oteil probably wasn't happy when Gregg said in an interview that Oteil quit the band last December. There may also be some frustration from Derek & Warren that they didn't do more shows this year. From their comments, I think they wanted to do 3-4 weeks of additional dates.

Overall though, I think the level of any animosity at this point is a mild simmer compared to times in the past. I think we'll continue to see collaboration among members in future years, probably starting with Wanee 2015.

IF the ABB continue and are at Wanee next year, I doubt there will be any colloborations with them and the departing members any time soon, especially 2015.
If the Allmans play Wanee , I think there would be better chances of DBGS playing there instead of Mule and TTB. Maybe outside of the ABB, memebers getting together, yeah,I could see that, but still that wont be anytime soon, IMHO.

They probably need some time apart. It would be kinda awkard getting back together so soon, kinda like breaking up with someone and then getting back with them in a few months. I think Warren and Derek would want to distance themselves for awhile , then maybe have something happen in the future where it might be fresh alittle more and been time apart for people to breath.

I surely wasn't suggesting the ABB are continuing or that the ABB are playing Wanee next year. The official statement is that they are not. My point was that I think we will continue to see collaborations among current members like the recent ones I cited. I suspect Wanee 2015 would be one of those likely times/places, since I would not be surprised if multiple family bands play the festival next year.

Here is my wholly uninformed theory about any discord this yr. I can't imagine Derek was angry about Butch blurting out that he was leaving, or that Oteil was when Gregg said he was. After all these years, such things are bound to happen w/ Butch and Gregg, and while an annoyance, I bet they laughed it off.

I can see a more serious scenario where, after WH and DT thought everyone was on the same page as this being the final year, then there was waffling on it by some. I could see DT and WH saying, "we'll do some more final tour shows this summer, but you guys need to tell us (and fans) that this IS the announced final tour." After receiving hemming and hawing and no straight answer, the two guitarists said "fine, we'll honor our commitments and that's all."

Perhaps the above discussions happened about the time of Mtn Jam, and was why the performance was sub-par. After the remaining band recognized that reconstituting the band would entail work, they resigned themselves to closing shop, and made an announcement as such. All was more calm at Peach and Lock'n as a result.

I do not expect any badmouthing by anyone in the band about the other. For the most part, they are professionals and know not to burn bridges. Add in a good measure of genuine affection that most have for the others and I do not see much in the way of tabloid-y statements going forward.

Again, the above is all mere speculation based only on my imagination.

Good post. I have a tendency to agree with most of what you stated. I too don't expect any bad mouthing amongst the current members.

No not at all lol

I think some of the comments we've heard from Derek (it's turning into an oldies act) and Warren (Gregg only writes songs for his own band) may be the tip of the iceberg.
