while Sunshine Music Festival is not returning next January for its seventh-annual edition, Tedeschi Trucks Band “has some special plans for St. Pete/Tampa Bay/Gulf Coast and South Florida fans for next year!”

I'm not too broken up about this. I can't complain about having a mini-fest right down the road, but didn't love the Boca venue. I hope this means we will get a proper show in a concert hall or amphitheater down here in south Florida, I was spoiled catching them twice a year when I lived in NYC.

Hopefully it means that TTB has been signed as a headliner for Wanee for the next few years. Wanee date announcement timeframe has come & gone and rumor is that the fest may be done. I'd be very sad if that were the case!

Hadn't heard that but last year's Wanee fest was pretty dead (didn't help that it was also very Dead Head - nothing against the Dead, but it was an overload). It still had it's moments, but Wanee doesn't seem to be attracting acts the way it was when the Allmans carried it, especially with 420 competing the same weekend as of late. Everyone at our camp was wondering if they'd come back for 2019. TTB would definitely be a game changer, but I think it's unlikely.

Live Nation / Wanee totally messed up not having Warren/Mule, Devon+Duane, and a Gregg Southern Blood tribute hosted by Scott Sharrard (like the ones he hosted in NYC).....plus a couple other bands that played Peach Fest.

Last year was the end of Panic's three year deal, so they are definitely at a crossroads.

Live Nation also puts on Peach Fest and has a done a better job with the lineup there the last 2 years.

For sure, Peach lineups have been top notch while Wanee lineups have been fading. Seems a lot of ABB-related musicians have chosen to only do Peach, and skip Wanee. Maybe it's a scheduling thing, or just geographic, but it's a bummer. Wanee has always had such a great vibe. Wanee's facebook site still seems pretty active which leads me to think it will still happen in 2019.

I would be sad to see Sunshine Music Festival disappear. Boca is indeed an awful venue but St. pete was nice and all those artists in one day was always a treat.

And Wanee has been a staple for me. Haven’t missed one yet. Spirit of Swanee Music Park in Live Oak is a beautiful place to have a festival. Mushroom Stage is magical.

If two of the best festivals Florida has going on all year round are suddenly gone without anything substantial to replace either of them that would be terrible.

The St Pete location is so much better, was actually planning to hit that up instead of Mizner in Boca even though Boca is just 5 miles down the road from me. I know it's convenient spot for a fest, especially with the Funky Biscuit right there, but Mizner is a soul-less Yorkie dog park.

And I agree, Mushroom Stage is the greatest place on earth. I love Wanee, been to 8 of them and have so many friends there, but I'm just tired of 3 days of Dead cover bands. Crazy Fingers plays for free every week in my backyard and now they are opening Wanee? Just might wait to see the lineup before I buy tickets this year.

I would take them at their word when they say they have something planned for Florida fans to make up for not having the S-Fest this year.

If Wanee is over then the Sunshine Fest should consider moving the January locations to SOSMP in April 2020 . . . All IMHO of course. I don't like the urban vibe of Sweetwater 420 and won't attend if. When I'm on vacation I prefer a more rural vibe as I get plenty of urban when I'm at home and not on vacation.
