Nugent told MLive last year that he would personally run for president if the U.S. didn't "get it right" during the 2016 presidential election. "Because I know exactly how to fix this shit," he explained. "It's called accountability. It's about re-reading your oath to the Constitution everyday. If you violate it, you're going to jail... Hillary Clinton, Lois Lerner, Valerie Jarrett, Barack Obama, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch."
He continued: "If they don't stop spending like mind-numbing dope addicts... if they don't secure the borders, if they don't arrest Hillary, Eric Holder, Loretta Lynch and Lois Lerner, if they don't get to the bottom of all this runaway criminality abuse of power, corruption and deceit in our government, I'm running for president, and I'm coming in with a crowbar."

Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Considering the July Jacksonville show.

I would rather eat maggots.

I would rather eat maggots.
Deep Fried or sautéed with butter and mushrooms? 😛 😉
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

I wish I was cool enough to admit I did not listen to Ted in the 70's and 80's.

Gonna have to agree with Alan on this one. Pass. Even with a free ticket and being invited to sit in, I would say no.

Would not cross the street even if VIP comped.

Ah hell, why not fuel the fire:

A maggot buffet, Free VIP seating, sitting in with the band and a chance to cross the road. Almost forgot - the chance to make America Rock Again......you guys are getting old. 😉

Political views, his music or just because he is Ted? 😉
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

if you are over 50 and have never seen Nugent before.......my god, why start now? and if you have seen him before, you really don't need to see him again.

Political views, his music or just because he is Ted?
Yes.

If someone buys me a ticket, drives me to the show, and supplies me with a sack of rotten tomatoes..............why SURE, I'll go!

Heineken - for me, it's a combination of all of the above. Meeting the band would only diminish my interest that's for sure. I listened to Ted plenty when I was 12 and 13. Loved the pictures of him and his Byrdland and "Wang Dang Sweet Pootang" seemed really risque. i also told racist jokes at that age and I'd wash my mouth out with soap if I could. Life is too short and sweet and precious to give Ted an inch of my brain or a moment of my time.

He puts on a good show. He's had some good tunes. Not sure why the distaste of him on this site. Saw him with Skynyrd many moon ago. I enjoyed it.
Everything in Moderation. Including Moderation.

As with Kiss or Kid Rock, Ted can put on a spectacle aimed at the Lowest Common Denominator. Once you hit puberty and / or start listening to something like what Derek Trucks offers, it's hard to settle for less.
Once you've eaten an excellent burger, you'll find it tough to settle for McDonald's.

Say what you will but few 70+ year old guitarists can hang with guy.
Especially while fronting a trio.

Saw him back up Aerosmith during their Toys in the Attic tour and he had the blue album - with Stranglehold and some other classics. It was a great show, but you couldn't pay me enough to go see him now.....

Who cares? he's just loud mouth a--hole. Never understood why people liked him. Any one who comes on stage with only a loin cloth on needs to be laughed off stage!

I'm going to be 34 soon, and I have never heard his music. I'm not going to start listening now. 😛
An acquaintance of mine on another site said how he saw him live at a state fair and it was by far the worst concert he's ever been to. So, I will not be going to any of the shows because of this, and they are far away from me.
If you like his music, and love seeing him live that's great. I'll just continue to listen to the ABB, dead, mule, phish, DTB/TTB, various Jazz musicians, and music from central and South America instead.

Not sure why the distaste of him on this site.
Mostly because he is a vocal right wing conservative republican, and this forum is heavily liberal democrat.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

If you want riff rockers, there are better riff rockers. If you want blues rock, there's better blues rock. If you want lead guitar, there's better lead guitar.
I'm partial to 1970s rock, but some famous 1970s rock is second tier, to me. I don't listen to Styx because other bands did that thing better; if i want melodic rock with prog elements, I will put on Queen or even Kansas.
Ditto Uriah Heep and Foghat; I think of Heep as kind of like Deep Purple but not as good. I'll take Purple. Foghat to me is generic boogie rock. I could listen to better boogie from old J Geils or something.
I put Ted in there with those guys. Why listen to Ted when you could put on, say, Mountain or Johnny Winter?
Molly Hatchet too. Second tier. Other bands did that thing so much better.
With latter day hard rock or metal, i don't listen to Quiet Riot or Autograph. Why bother? Van Halen is so much better. Why settle for pale imitations?
I can enjoy some derivative second tier stuff. The Cult is an example. I like old Kiss too, even if it is recycled Alice Cooper with some poorly executed Page licks. I dig it. But it is also inherently mockable. Ted Nugent's material is like that. Jeez, go listen to some Cactus.

The Amboy Dukes albums Journey / Migration, Call Of The Wild, and Tooth Fang & Claw were fairly regular in my rotation back in the mid-seventies. After that the music got repetitive, predictable, and pretty juvenile.

Believe me I understand the hate and would not pay to go see him. But to dismiss him or Kiss for that matter as someone did as hacks, is foolish. His first solo album is killer. I still listen to it regularly.

For sure. "Hibernation" was an incredible recording, soundpainting. You could see the snowbound wilderness in the feedback. What set his guitar tone apart in the phase-shiftin 70s was his independence from effects, just straight from semihollow to tubes, raw drive, and tasty feedback. Nugent would not like this comparison, but he and Jerry Garcia really turned feedback into beauty.

Agree . If someone's music was REALLY that bad or they were totally inept at playing instruments
then I highly doubt they would have made it in the music world and would have been doing something else as a means of employment.
They sold a bunch, numbers don't lie.
Maybe his music/ guitar playing is not as technically savvy as maybe as someone who played in the ABB. Not a lot are, so do we dismiss someone because they're style of music/ playing is a little different or we don't like it or their view points ? That would be ignorant to do so.
You cant compare Derek to Angus, Ted to Django, Keith Richards to Steve Vai, and etc. Sure you can say maybe the TTB are more diverse and creative
in they're music, but that does not make them a better of band than others, just different.
Not a big follower of Ted , but I do enjoy some of his music.
Everyone has a plan, till you get punched in the face,

Never been much of a fan. I suppose he has a few good songs. Never saw him in concert, and probably never will. My concert dollar only goes to who I really like. I'm too old to spend my money on bands that don't do much for me. Ted Nugent, Foriegner, Styx, Journey, all fall into that category.

Nuge Musings
Cat Scratch Fever is a well written and well done pop rock song. Catchy, has held up, and still is great. Have to give him that, anyone that writes an enduring hit.
Saw the Amboy Dukes when in high school. Was slipped some stuff, so was wasted. I remember the guitar player (no name then) played two guitars at once, necks up. I need someone to let me know if this was possible or drugs I do remember someone saying the guitar player was a crazy man.
And my personal Nuge story
Two years ago was a table at a breakfast joint down on the lake, kind of a tourist town. So place filled with few locals and bunch of tourists. At table next to me is a family, two kids, a mom and dad. Now, before I go further I must describe myself. Long hair ponytail and at that time no beard, just a below lip patch, and medium build.
So I feel this like, presence, at the table next to me. I look over and this guy (dad) is looking over intently, right at me. Disconcerting. I wait. Peek over again. Still intently looking at me. Creepy. Then he leans in. "Excuse me sir, I don't mean to get in your stuff, but you look a lot like Ted Nugent". I had trouble coming up with a quick response. This was a first. I don't think I look like Ted Nugent. I laughed and somehow sluffed it off, haha..... Then after a minute I look over and he is still staring at me. (yikes). He leans in again. Says, "Sir, no, I mean you REALLY look a lot like Ted Nugent".
The little light buld in me head came on dimly..... this dude thinks I AM Ted Nugent! (PHUCK)!!! I see the whole family is looking at me, and back at dad, and I realize they all want to crawl under the table at that point due to embarrassing dad. So I broke his heart. Yup. Dude, sorry, I am NOT Ted Nugent.
I screwed up. I should have said: Dude! I love my fans! Give the Nuge your arm! Taking pen I write a big Ted Nugent signature and a little rifle drawing. The I say: Dude! Run to a tattoo parlor quick! You'll be famous! A Nuge Arm!

Not sure why the distaste of him on this site.

Try being a little open minded and separating the art from the politics. Alec Baldwin - enjoyable actor. Real life assh0le. Barbara Streisand one of the greatest female voices. Real life assh0le. Uncle Ted should just STFU, but he puts on a good show and knows his way around a fretboard.

Hahaha- good "Ted's Double" tale bird72. Same thing happened to me several times, not quite as intense. Its the hair, and some vague teutonc facial features. Guys like Ted Nugent and Willie Nelson provided a way for those shocked by ultralong hair to process the concept, which literally saved my life sometimes. Ted Nugent brought long hair to parts of the country where they will kill you over it. Must not have reached Creole, because I had the classic Easy Rider cafe experience in 2000, didn't get served. If I had walked in with a guitar case they probably would have warmed up. Hair is gone, just scruffy not even shoulder length now, and twice recently had millenials snap pictures with me because they think I am a dead ringer for Willam Macy on Shameless. Dubious honor for sure. Asked the kid, cmon be honest I won't get mad, is this an insult? He said no man, it's totally dope!, top cable show with Game of Thrones, you should be gettin coin for it . . .Haha go figure and here I just thought I was an old hobo. Hahaha!
