Steely Dan @ Humphrey's by the bay, 4/19

A $204 ticket on the day of sale, I managed to score a seat in the 16th row, dead center for $70 just moments before the curtain rose. Well worth it! Maybe my 6th or 7th SD show over the deacdes and Becker and Fagan haven't lost a step. Pretty nice setlist, but the most lighthearted moment came when Donald turned on a shouter in the first row who was yelling out requests: "This is our band and we'll play what ever we want, so just ...chill"...and when the heckler responded, Mr. Fagan shifted his piano bench and looked right at the guy and responded, "You want to hear those songs?....form your own band and play them".
Right on Donald.

I may have left a few out near the start of the show; all in all a pretty solid performance. Still one of my favorite venues of al time.

I bet that was a spectacular show! Glad you had a good time and scored a great deal BigV. I'm going to make sure my next trip out to the Golden State includes a show at Humprey's.
Good on ya Man!

16th row? I'm jealous Vince. How long did they play?

How long did they play?
Almost exactly 2 hours. 13 band members including four horns, all of whom had the opportunity to showcase. I was talking to some peeps who had been there the night before as well and they had said that about 50% of the set-list was different, would have been cool to have seen them on consecutive evenings. Becker played some simple leads, but the star of the show was a guitarist named John Harrington (I believe)...who as Walter stated had been with them for 15 years. They're about to start a bigger tour in June with Elvis Costello as the opener...

Thanks for the review, Donald is great and he cracks me up just watching him, did he sing Dirty Work?
