Interesting they say that Oteil and the peacemakers played songs that were originally for the Allman Brothers, but did not get included on HTN. Never knew that.

my recall of that evening was that we had a great time and that Mule was the best performance of that particular show.

I wish I could remember why I didn't go to this. I think I may have been on my first visit to China.

It was a very fun time and as mentioned it was a loooong night!

The night before, 3/21, was an epic ABB show with a 19 song setlist that included Chuck Leavell on 7 or so songs including Blue Sky (great Gregg vocal with Derek, Chuck & Warren taking solos), Jessica, Desdemona and a few other w/Chuck. Derek & Warren did a legit acoustic Little Martha. They closed with Layla. There is a great audience recording of this that I have somewhere in a disorganized music collection. I need to find it.

Chuck played on Elizabeth Reed on 3/22 too, if my memory serves me well.

Wish I had been there for those nights (particularly 3/21). I've only heard them on recordings. I was there the previous weekend and caught 2 shows including a great Sat night show from the front row of the Loge on 3/18.....when those tickets could be had for $75 each!

Forgot that Trey showed up for Liz Reed. If memory serves me correctly, I hustled to get a copy to hear his performance and remember thinking he was horrid when I finally heard it... all out of tune, timid and weak in the mix.

The 3/21 show that another poster mentioned is easily a top 10, probably top 5 all time show for me. Phenomenal energy beginning to end. Best Layla ever

I recall walking right up front to hear/see Jaimoe. Great stuff. Cool to see him in a blazer and very much enjoying himself. Thought the DTB was great. This was around when they hit that stride when Song Lines came out. Mike was really coming into his own as the singer and voice of the band. They might of been my favorite of the night.
Mule was great as always and I was exhausted by time the ABB took the stage but they delivered. Don't recall any specific songs really. Just powerful. Especially Butch and Gregg.

I just got married and friend as I was walking out tossed me the big house show shirt as a gift. Real cool for my only beacon show that year.

I didn't like Trey either. I think this was around when he was in deep with his substance issues. I really enjoyed watching their rise in the early 90's. Seeing then in small college gyms in 91 to sold out MSG by 95. No real radio, mtv play, way before the internet was breaking bands. That in itself is why i respect phish. Don't care for the songs though. My die hard friends tell me to trust them and go see them this summer. We'll see...
