Howdy all! Used to post all the time on the blue sit in the late 2000s and 2010s as a teen. Feels good to be back. Miss the old blue site and everything is so different now but I still love the band. Wanted to share a new to me show that I recently uploaded to YouTube from one of my favorite eras of the Brothers.

I’ve never heard this show before and through the generosity of a trader named John Hoover was sent this show recently and it has really floored me. Dickey is in great spirits, playing like the guitar master he was with great stage banter between the tunes and the band sounds inspired! There’s a really awesome full band version of jambalaya that’s ripping that I’ve previously only heard acoustic on the 11/3 radio broadcast. Also Vassar need I say more?

Nice, the more from this tour the better. I've only heard the Winterland show and the Hempstead radio studio show.

@porkchopbob Yes! that's why I was so excited to find this one. The show energy is much different. The hinterland show seems to be darker and moodier.

Dickey is in great spirits on 11/6/74

@guitarplayntaylor91 Back in early 1975 it was in one of the music magazines then that the Winterland show was suppose to be Dickey's version of Gregg's " The Gregg Allman Tour" but it was decided not to release a live Richard Betts album. One thing I seem to remember is Phil Walden said they should have brought in Butch Trucks to play drums.

@robertdee I so greatly wished that would have or still would happen. Didn't dickey do two nights at Winterland? Hard to believe they didn't record both shows

@guitarplayntaylor91 I can't remember if it was two shows at Winterland. I imagine it would be. Gregg and Capricorn recorded more than one show for his live album in 1974. One in New York City and one in Passaic, New Jersey.

I remember Dickey being quoted as saying he didn't realize how hard it is to get a band to sound good enough for a live album.

They decided they didn't have a live album so didn't release it and I remember Phil Walden saying they should have had Butch Trucks on drums for the show.

The drummer used is also on the Highway Call studio album. It was a drummer Dickey liked.

I did some checking and didn't find whether they recorded both shows at Winterland.

David Walshaw was the drummer and Stray Stanton was on bass. Same as the album. They were liked by Dickey.

The only thing I found was the tour was a financial disaster. A big group of musicians on the tour including Bonnie Bramblet and it lost money.

But it said Dickey and Capricorn made so much money off the hugely successful Brothers and Sisters album that no one was upset including Dickey and Walden. Dickey did it just for the joy of playing music that he loved and much of it was outside the scope of the Allman Brothers Band.
