Macon Question

Looks like I may be in Macon end of Feb beginning of March for a couple of days. Can anyone recommend somewhere to stay and is two days long enough to see everything ?
Also in Nashville for a couple of days later is there anywhere nice to stay near the Ryman Auditorium ?

Darren, I like the Best Western on Riverside here lately. Decent rooms, decent price. They have The Back Porch Lounge which usually has some live music/blues and features Brother Jeff Payne bartending on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. Rose Hill is down the road, literally, and there are plenty of choices for food nearby. You'll need a couple/three hours to tour The Big House properly and soak up the vibe. Same with Rose Hill. Do Grant's Lounge, but check and see what entertainment is there and when, as they sometimes do RAP type music. If you like that....cool! There's the Otis Redding monument over off MLK Blvd. and Riverside. You can get lots of tips on local ABB attractions from Richard at The Big House, I'm sure. You can also go to http://www.gabba.org/footsteps-map/ for the Macon Footsteps map.

As for Nashville, there are several hotels nearby the Ryman, but you will find that downtown lodging is very expensive - in excess of $300 a night. If you do decide to do that, I would be glad to help with other logistical questions. I don't live in Nashville, but I generally visit a few times a year.
