Lockn stream

and after all of that incredible all-star throw down Joe Cocker sh^t from the 37 minute on.....and as my brother Leon Russell comes out and starts the encore with a wonderful solo rendition of "Mad Dogs and Englishmen"......Susan comes out and kisses Leon on the cheek.....and I cry like a baby......what a slamming jam...again..first two songs...and then 37 minute on magic.....

Standing up front... knowing in my heart I was in for one of the greatest musical extravaganzas in my life, the Mad Dogs and Englishmen was everything I anticipated and more.
The next morning I ran into Leon in the parking lot of the hotel. He was driving his scooter. I told him how much his music meant to me... I told him that, at 12 years old, I knew all the lyrics to Carney. I told him how "Baby Jane" made me weep. And I told him that, during the entire amazing performance, I was anticipating him singing,
'Cause I love her, and she loves you
Just myself and forty friends
In the name of Cocker power
Out here on the road again
With Mad Dogs and Englishmen
What an amazing three days.

Straight into the Phil set. This is what I wanted to see.
Every performance was straight into the next. Three days of bombastic music... just, simply, incredible.
I'd look at the second hand on my watch in between sets... most of the time not more than a minute between performances.

"He started to throw in These are my favorite things from the sound of music,"
Maybe this was tongue in cheek, always hard to tell on the Internet, but Carlos was almost certainly referencing the famous John Coltrane rendition.
Call me Captain Obvious, but I couldn't stand the thought that somebody out there thought MFT was just a show tune and didn't know the epic Coltrane version.

well, we all heard Trane's version for the 1st time at one point in our life.
Listening to that now - great set.
Actually, several jazz teases (Birdland, Work Song, Summertime, Chim chimeree - Trane did that too)
I like this show better then the FTW shows. That's not a Warren vs Trey thing - I like Trey.
To me, the FTW was more GD like, the P&F show 9/12 was more improv, open jamming.

Here's the 9/11/15 Phil and Friends set on youtube:
And here's the 9/12/15 show with Warren and Carlos:
