LAFE - What is this guy saying?
Right before Duane says, "We Got a little number from our first album we're gonna to play for ya. Berry starts her up.." A dude in the audience yells something pretty loud. Then of course after Duane speaks somebody says, "Whippin Post!" and Duane acknowledges, "That's right you guessed it." or something to that effect. What is it the first dude yells out right before Duane speaks? It's plenty loud but I never good figure out what he says.

"Let Oteil Sing"
I've listen to that album at least 12 times since I bought it in July 1971 and I always thought that audience member was yelling " Instrumental Illness".
I've actually heard " Ramblin Man " yelled at a Gregg solo concert.
Joke or someone who doesn't know the guys as well as we do?
I always thought it's "Revival" which I never saw the original band do. But they did on occasion.
One of the few performances of "Revival", Duane introduced it as their "biggest hit", it being the first Allman Bros song to chart, peaking at #92.
Here's a full version from Duane's only show in Canada, complete with Duane and Dickey trading "Layla" teases.
Also on Idlewild South the credits only list lead vocals. Berry Oakley for Hoochie Coochie Man and Gregg Allman for the rest.
I always figured Dickey is one of the harmony voices on Revival and wonder about the rest.
In 1986 Gregg and Dickey played a tour together mostly in clubs and small venues and Dickey's band would play a set, then Gregg's band followed by a mixing of both bands and a set of Allman Brothers Band songs with Gregg and Dickey on stage together.
During the Gregg Allman Band set I had a chance to speak with Dickey and I asked him who are the voices singing the harmony ( People can you feel it? Love is everywhere) parts?
I was expecting Dickey to say he was one of the voices but the surprise was Dickey said " I know it doesn't sound like it for some reason but that's everybody in the band. Me, Gregg, Duane, Berry, Butch and Jaimoe. I well remember when Tom Dowd put us in a room around a microphone to record that. We were laughing and clapping and finally got a clean take".
Years later Butch Trucks said they did the same thing for the " chant" on Black Hearted Woman on the first album. And at the end of the chant that his Berry Oakley laughing and the producer didn't want to do it again so we used it and he kept Berry's laughing on the track without wiping it out real quick.
On that album Gregg wanted to do his lead vocals over on all tracks but the guy ( Adrian Barber..Tom Dowd wasn't available) didn't want to do it saying they were out of studio time at Atlantic in New York.
Gregg reportedly never liked his vocals on any of the tracks.
Eagles drummer and singer Don Henley recently said he can't listen to their first two albums and especially to his own lead vocals on Desperado because all he hears are mistakes. Sometimes when he is in a restaurant and they know he is a patron they will put on the first or second album on the restaurant sound system and to their surprise Henley always asked that they shut it off as he can't enjoy his meal and listen to those crappy performances.
And on an even worse note I just read an interview with the musician who replaced David Lee Roth in Van Halen and to my surprise he unloaded on Eddie. A big time drunk and druggie and a real jerk bag and egotistical beyond your wildest expectations. You wouldn't even know he was at the show until you heard him out there plugged in jerking off.
Eddie only thought and cared about himself and actually thought he was the greatest electric lead guitar player in the history of rock. No other player could touch him.
I recall in the 1970's telling in an interview how much better he was compared to Jimmy Page. All these people bragging about Led Zeppelin and compared to him ( Eddie ) Jimmy Page played like his right arm was broken.
I didn't know what to think of that from Eddie.
Neat version of Revival, background vocals on that tune are very good.

I totally understand only hearing the warts (or what you think are), but I also totally get not wanting to hear your own band for the bajilliionth time while trying to enjoy a meal. Really presumptuous thinking he'd want to hear himself. Don has an ego, but it's not like he's Mike Love or something.
@porkchopbob Yes Mike Love is convinced Mike Love is FANTASTIC!!
I saw the Eagles in the 1970's several times before I had to get a second mortgage to afford a ticket and always thought the Eagles was one of the cleanest and mistake free bands I had seen. Almost TOO clean.
I agree the last thing Don would want is to hear Eagles songs on the speakers in a restaurant while trying to enjoy a meal. I'm sure they thought they were honoring him but I understand Don's position.
Just in case Mr. Henley checks out this thread!!.....

I'm not quite sure where you got the Eddie Van Halen story from, but the guy who replaced DLR, Sammy Hagar, didn't say that. Eddie and Sam had a great relationship and Sam always said that Eddie was a great guitarist, songwriter and a great person. It wasn't until their 2004 tour where Ed was suffering from some serious substance abuse problems that Ed was acting inappropriately. Now, ever since then Sam has taken every opportunity to talk shit about everyone who was ever in Van Halen except Michael Anthony.
