What a strange album. I still don't fully get it, and I prefer some of Plant's solo stuff since then over this album, but I'm glad that at least a few songs clicked. "Shining in the Light" should have been the first single, and it coulda used some ace lead guitar playing, but at least it has some great Page riffs.

The single ""Most High" does not. It's a good song, one that makes sense in its placement in the sequence of the album, but as a stand-alone single meant to represent the return of Plant/Page, it didn't represent the duo in a way that won listeners over.

I like the album, its solid.  Hard to believe its been that long. It would have been nice to have JPJ involved in playing, writing and he can produce.

In regards to the retro review article above, I think expectations can be set so high, you are bound not to meet those in some eyes to a degree. Not obtaining the glory of the hey days I think sometimes is an unfair judgement to these artist. A lot of it has to do with the time/era of that form of music, the public interest, song writing well a little dry, perspective in musical tastes and styles can change as well.

Roberts solo stuff has been pretty good over the last  decade or more.....maybe a little to much World Beat vibe for me on his last two, but its quality no doubt. The guy can sing still. I saw him last summer with Alison and it was a good show. Highly recommend Mighty ReArranger.

This kinda relates to artists/bands making a return. But I have wondered if GNR will make a new one. They have been touring pretty solid since Slash and Duff came back in 2016.  Could they meet the public/critics expectations of Appetite and Use Your Illusion? I am sure they can still write really good music, the talent is there.

I am not really a huge Metallica fan, like some of the stuff here and there, but it sounds like they're current release is getting favorable reviews and the prior one did as well.

I am looking forward to hear what the Black Crowes are gonna come out with..... would love for them to put out a powerhouse rocking album. Put guitar based music back on the map.
