I never really followed these guys back in the 80's, just not my cup of tea as far as their style of hard rock and metal.

I listen to Eddie Trunk quite a bit and he really raves this one, so I thought I would give it a try, was not expecting much. Very pleasantly surprised. Has a nice edge on a good part of the tracks list that I was not expecting. John Norum should get guitar player of the year for his work on this, outstanding. He really stands out as a great player on here. If you appreciate some great hard rock guitar playing, you might want to give this a spin.
Some of this almost has a little Deep Purple feel and some of John's playing reminds me a
of a melodic Blackmore

These tracks stand out the most for me. The others are good to, but I always dig the rockers more.

jszfunk you are speaking my language!

This album is tremendous. Europe made the cardinal sin of having a monster hit in the 80's with The Final Countdown and that has wrongly stigmatized them as a "hair" band. Like Eddie Trunk, I despise that term.

Europe's latter day output is closer to Deep Purple than any kind of 80's rock. War of Kings is a classic. Get it and enjoy it. Produced by Dave Cobb who produces Rival Sons so you know it is going to be good! They are working on another one now with him and it will be out in '17. Can't wait for it.

Fly the flag for hard rock and metal!!!

I hope people who have an interest in hard rock , take the time to check it out. I normally would not stump for a band with the history of being "hair metal" (not my cup of tea), but this is well worth a listen. Not what you would expect. Smile
Good to hear they are working with the same producer. I think he did California Breed's debut release too.
