Hey y'all. Just wanted to throw a quick review in. Was at the show last night and was just blown away. I guess I did not have huge expectations going in but they exceeded those and then some. John Mayer? The man has been baptized LOL! Seriously jumped in the deep end with both feet. Totally feeling it, tone down and just happy to be playing these songs. Bob, never heard him sing so strong in years! Still begging to let Oteil lose and turned a little higher but he is having a ball too. The band is so tight, cant imagine where they will be by New Years. Would see them every time they are around. Lets just hope they keep the truck moving. Found some clips so wanted to share.

Was also in attendance on 11/1. Very entertaining and exceeded my expectations. I thought Bob W was outstanding....... I thought Shakedown was the highlight of the night..... Heard two repeated songs from Friday's Phil and Friends; Bertha and Scarlet Begonias...... I'd give the nod to Phil and Friends on Bertha as I thought John Kadlecik (sometimes affectionately referred to as "Fake Jerry") worked much better than John Mayer in my mind. Scarlet Begonias was a toss up........

I really enjoyed both nights, but I'd go back to Phil & Friends before I'd do the Dead & Co. Phil is so incredibly unique and the group he assembles is always top notch. I thought Stanley Jordan was fabulous on Friday.

What time have they been taking the stage? Considering going to DCU but can't get there until around 8.

glad you enjoyed the show....the clips i've seen of Dead & Co. are not my thing-Weir sounds great, but Mayer, who plays some nice blues, isn't a good fit for GD music. All a matter of taste! i still much prefer Phil & his band of friends.

the first Phil show was outstanding & night two was ok but weaker. Was at the 11/1 Phil show & the addition of a third guitarist noodling & shredding over the other two players was a noisy mess at times. But that first show is worth seeing/listening if you haven't heard it yet.

looking forward to Phil's next band later this week.

Scott Metzger from Joe Russo's Almost Dead was the third guitar player dadof2. 11/1 was a recreation of the 11/1/1985 show from Richmond Virginia. I don't know why Phil pulled in a third guitar player although I've heard that Jordan often laid back as was not playing much rhythm.

Here's a mini review from Jambands:

Looks like a fun setlist.
So far the stuff I've seen w/Mayer looks good,he's done some homework.
Looking forward to next week in Buffalo.

Why are Oteil and Jeff the small font guys? Why can't all of the names be equally bold? That's just silly.
