Duane tapes to listen & review

I received the reel to reel tapes I had hoped and waited on. All this is stuff traded digitally, but being an analog freak I am excited to get some stuff in this format at 7 1/2 ips and pre any cassette conversion, that is from the day and farther up the genealogical tree of sound. Some is labeled by radio station and month. I need to cross reference these to show data base and list by show if possible.
1 reel Syria Mosque 1/71 (this one I ID'd)
"2/71 WXRT Chicago" 2 reels
"SUNY 1971" 3 reels
"Byron GA 7/70" 2 reels. old label tape on reels say soundboard
7 inch reels that oddly are part, not full reels of tape, music both directions.
Played Syria and part of Chicago. Syria while crisp is lacking on low end bass presence. It sounds like an off the board that needs mixing, channels are not proportionate in balance of instruments, etc... crisp and clean though.
Chicago needs more listen to all tapes, but initial listen is hopeful.
I'll post some pics and takes on sound as I listen over next few days.

This could be very interesting. Please do keep us informed.

2/71 Chicago ?

2/71 Chicago ?
I know part of the problem. It may be a radio station (WXRT) broadcast of a show from another locale and or date. I will put up setlist but so many were similar in that era....
Playing SUNY show and it does sound nice, Blue Sky and stormy Monday were sounded good just now. I need to A/B compare CD of Archive release of same show for sound comparison. I just saw tapes have a Whipping Post archive release does not.

WXRT, Chicago, IL
Early 1971
1. Statesboro Blues (3:51)
2. Trouble No More (4:08)
3. Don't Keep Me Wondering (3:47)
4. Done Somebody Wrong (3:44)
5. One Way Out (5:13)
6. In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed (11:09)
7. Stormy Monday (8:23)
8. Jam (3:58)
9. In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed (6:30)
10. Trouble No More

Bird - I think the Chicago broadcast is the WPLJ show 8/26/71....

Wondering how this sounds compared to the traded Atlanta Pop tapes

Wondering how this sounds compared to the traded Atlanta Pop tapes
Wondering these type questions myself regarding all the tapes...... eventually it will be interesting to A/B compare traded digital versus these. I don't have all these on CD and will need to acquire them. I have played Syria so much in past on CD (Capn Skip) that I know that sound. The tape I have is definitely before any digital mix and correction that has happened. Not sure how to describe, but more open and not as "heavy" a sound, maybe light on bass to some degree which has been adjusted on what is traded. Part of sound difference will always be the analog versus digital difference even on same system.
My cheap pawn shop amp died and have a 79 Sansui 719 in transit and I am pretty excited to hear this stuff thru a good vintage amp as it should be.

Syria Mosque pre Capn Skip.....
Pioneer RT-909 in action
Replaced my cheap amp with this, late 70's Sansui, sounds pretty decent...

nice
