Bad note played by Duane in Statesboro Blues

Are any of you guys/gals out there aware of the, as Gregg Allman once called it, "Note from Hell" that Duane played on Statesboro Blues on the At Fillmore East album? For years, I never noriced it. Then one day, many years ago, I heard an interview with Gregg and he described a little mistake that Duane made at the end of his first solo on Statesboro blues. Duane plays that amazing solo and after he finishes the solo, and the band continues, if you listen real carefully, you can hear duane hit a really bad note that is out of key and was not meant to be. It is not part of the solo. It is after the solo is finished. Listen carefully and you will hear it. Gregg said that the band and Tom Dowd were trying to think of a way to eliminate that note but back in 1971, the technology didn't exist to do it. But the song was just so great that they decided to use that version on the album and just leave the note in there.
True!!! If you listen you will hear it!

Years ago I read an interview with Dr. John where he complained about the growing use of technology to achieve perfection in records. He said that artists would record several takes, and pick the best one even if it had a flaw. It was real. So Duane's bad note is a part of what happened that night.

Exactly!! And that is why I posted this. To show just how amazing that version of Statesboro Blues is. It was so good that not even a missed note could take away from the genius of the ABB!!!!! It is a truly great version!!!!
