Ok, folks. Here it is. Perhaps the final "Will Dickey Show Up?" thread.

My money is on the "No" side of the coin at the moment, but who knows? Maybe this last run of shows (as far as we know) will inspire some peace-making between Dickey and the others. Gregg's book makes it clear he is willing to play with Dickey should Dickey make some concessions/apologies and change his ways. But will that happen?

Only time at the Beacon will tell.

And those opening notes of Blue Sky...

Enjoy it either way.

Jack

Not a chance. He's on good terms with Warren and Derek, but Dickie has burned bridges with a few members of the band, and of course, Gregg's book napalmed any other bridges that may have remained.

There should never be a "last thread" on Dickey. I posed the question in early September, "Where is Dickey?" and people got mad at me. Except one thoughtful chic who expounded on the difficulty Duane's death placed on the band members. I know Duane. His personality is exactly as mine. What is needed right now is someone like Duane to go to Gregg and say get the fuck up off your ass and contact Dickey and invite him to the Beacon. Do this for eternal posterity and for the legacy of this scene that Duane founded. This scene for me has always been about the absolutely unique music created by these musicians-including fuckin' Dickey. So Gregg do not hide on this issue, get Dickey to the Beacon.

Richard Forrest Betts will definitely show up.......in Jan.....at the Sunshine Fest in Florida.....with Derek Trucks......after hunting season is over

Rumour has it that Warren,Greg,Jaimoe & Butch will show too,and join them both onstage.....but will not be joining him hunting

(I made that last part up)

Earlier this year, Trucks hinted that a Betts cameo may be possible this week. “Not only for the band and the legacy, but for the audience too, it would be something nice to tie it up,” Trucks told Relix magazine. “The whole story of the band is this dysfunctional crazy family. I think for it not to go out right would be a shame.”

"Warren treaded lightly when asked about whether Dickey Betts would perform with the Allmans at the final shows, "I would like to think so. Me personally, I'd like to see that happen." He then went on to say that both he and Derek felt weird about moving on with the Allmans without Dickey and he'd love to see Betts sit in at the Beacon. " Warren Haynes

Dickey will be a show.I think they all realize it is the right thing to do by hitting the high note on a personal and musical level. It is time to make peace and avoid any regrets due to an over abundance of human pride.

Cross the ocean to some distant land
We'll reach the end we'll all be singin'
and we'll all be friends
Back where it all begins"
